    These were standard issue for my work for a few years. They're 5 years old now.
    They work with usb c docks for charging display output etc.
    They will only charge from usb C once they already have some charge. If you flatten them they won't charge in usb C.

    They're OK.

      Standard for mine too - but i wouldnt say theyre ok - Horrible machines, we had countless issues with them requiring hardware replacements.

      Wouldnt touch HP by choice.

      These HPs are absolute junk. I have an 830G5 (work issued), and I work in IT. I really take good care of my equipment, but the hinge started to develop play around the 3y mark. My girlfriend also has a HP (11th gen Elitebook), and within 12 months, the screen had developed play. I have a Thinkpad X230, which has a hinge that’s still going, 11y later, with no play. When these laptops are aiming to compete with the likes of the Thinkpad, they really do fall when the hinge can’t even last a few years.

      I also have a Dell Latitude from a few years back and they do seem to have better hinges, but admittedly I haven’t had it as long as the HPs.

      Another issue is the drivers….
      Only HP certified drivers allowed…
      Cannot install intel official drivers :(

      I thought it was just me
      I always found surestart such an ironic frustration
      With my first probook it would power on to surestart screen and stay they for at least 20 minutes, so power off they power on and the b would start up swiftly.

      Later the elitebook would do similar up to an hour to boot but forced power cycle the dam thing would boot up.

      I've has similar experiences from time to time with all brands, but looking at that patronising SureStart when it is incapable of starting : unspeakable

    Sucks when arguably the extra RAM got removed, and then offered back to you for extra, making it not such a deal

    Or this could be the one time that didnt happen

    I have a few 820 G2 and G3 and call these the 'cheap and cheerful' office PCs. If you are going to crack it open suggest repasting the CPU with new thermal compound and up RAM to 16 GB if not already there. Also clean out the fans and heatsink dust bunnies (cheap makeup brush works well for this).

    The fans spin up constantly if the thermal compound is old.

    Can't comment on the hinges as the ones I have don't have that issue.
