    Thanks for posting.

Four weeks (let's call it 1 month) after 2 months = approximately a 33% discount. Much greater discount can be obtained from the 'pay 1 month, get 6 weeks free' offers.

No churner should sign-up for this offer unless there is nothing better available at the time.

If you do join, no-one should stay beyond the free 1 month. Again, much greater savings can be made by churning. It does not make sense to wait for the 12- and 24-month free months available under this offer.

    Just my 2¢ worth.

Thanks for the write up! I am on the hunt for the next insurance churn as the free 6 week is coming to an end in a week's time, fingers crossed something good comes up in the next couple of days…

It'll take you 15 minutes to click through to the insurer websites from here https://www.privatehealth.gov.au/dynamic/insurer

Also, this is still running: https://www.queenslandcountry.health/campaigns/2024/6Weeks/ = 100% discount

Thanks, have already started the process - and I am currently with QLD & Country Health (the 6 week offer, thanks to one of your posts). My 1st year of doing healthcare churning :)

          • @blitzpaladin: You might just have to go with the next best thing. Let me know what you find.

I'm with Bupa (horrible to deal with) until late-June.

@YesPleaseThankYou: @YesPleaseThankYou, here's what I think might work, although by the look of it, Bupa appears to have the best deal out there, get 6 weeks free after paying for 1 month - assume that I have read it correctly: 6 weeks free: 6 weeks free applied 30 days from policy join date, with the value of each ‘weeks free’ payment calculated on the level of cover held at the time the payment is made - https://www.bupa.com.au/campaigns/health-insurance/six-weeks…) - so basically pay for c4 weeks to get 6 weeks free?

Apart from the Bupa deal, the Medibank one looks to be hald descent:

              1. Medibank (6 weeks free plus 50,000 Live Better points (couples and families) or 25,000 Live Better points (singles and single parents), 6 weeks free terms: Must maintain direct debit and hold eligible cover for 42 consecutive days from the policy start date to get next 6 weeks free. The 6 weeks free will not be issued if you change to an ineligible cover, terminate your cover or suspend your cover during this period.

              https://www.medibank.com.au/health-insurance/c/campaign/?abt…

              1. Peoplecare (Pay 60 days and get 4 weeks free - c8.57 weeks for 4 weeks free

Peoplecare membership must be held for 60 continuous days and be financial prior to the 4 WEEKS FREE been applied to the membership. Peoplecare member must maintain the eligible Peoplecare health insurance policy for 13 consecutive months from the join date and be financial to be eligible to receive the subsequent 4 weeks.

              https://www.peoplecare.com.au/join-offer

              1. Ahm (essentially Medibank) (Must maintain eligible hospital and extras cover continuously for 60 days from the cover start date to receive 6 weeks free. If you change to an ineligible cover during this period, 6 weeks free will not be issued) - pay c8.57 weeks to get 6 weeks free
              • @blitzpaladin: What about:

                • UniHealth: Are you an academic, general and professional staff, or research staff member and a member of the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU)? Or were you in the past?
                • Nurses & Midwives Health: We not only welcome nurses, midwives and nursing students who who are current (or former) union members, but a long list of rellies too (as you can see from the family tree below).
                • Teachers Health: We not only welcome teachers, school staff and education students who are current (or former) union members, but a long list of rellies too (as you can see from the family tree below).

All of the above belong to Teachers Federation Health Limited and currently running the usual '6 weeks' free offer.

As it says on the websites, they're also open to family members, including former partners of eligible persons.

Offers end tomorrow, 30 April 2024.

                • @YesPleaseThankYou: Thanks @YesPleaseThankYou! I still have about free 1.5 week left on the QCHF deal so will exhaust that first and then join Medibank for 6 weeks to then get the 6 weeks free (so should be good for the next 4 months)

Just a quick question, I see that most of the promo requires direct debit to be set up (I presume it means direct debit from a bank acct), for the Medibank scenario, if I were to choose fortnight payment frequency, the free 6 weeks will then kick in, and from my end, I will be looking at churning to the next provider as the free 6 weeks draw to a close.

Based on your past experience, I presume the direct debit should not kick if I have churned right before the end of the free 6 weeks, or do you contact the existing provider and ask them to stop the debit?

                  Thank you

        • When signing up with QCHF does the free 6 weeks kick in immediately? It says it takes up to 14 days for transfer certificate from previous health fund, does it mean have to wait for the transfer to complete before claiming through QCHF as promo ends on 30/4 and I do actually have a dental appt on the same day?

          • @Craze:

When signing up with QCHF does the free 6 weeks kick in immediately?

            Did you read the terms?

If you join now and have a dental appointment on 30/04/2024, your issue is not that QCHF likely won't have received your previous fund's certificate, it is that you won't have received the card used for claiming.

You would need to pay for the dental consultation then claim from QCHF after the transfer certificate has been applied to your policy. The end result should be the same regardless of whether you claim on the spot, or later via the app or website.

I say should as my dentist does this weird thing where they give you an extra promotional credit when you claim on the spot. I don't know why they do this. My impression is that the dental practice doesn't offer the credit if you don't claim on the spot.

T&C didn't explicitly say, but I have signed up to start policy 6/5 and have sent an email to confirm.
