  • Do actual Qantas planes fly there or is it on a Jetstar plane?

Last time I flew there, a few years ago, it was a codeshare with Qantas (Jetstar plane). Don't think $1067 to Honolulu is a good deal as for only $100 more you can fly to LAX. Sale prices for HI on Jetstar average around $700. I managed to get mine on a 2 for 1 sale for $500 rt. If you are really quick, $328 return. ;)

      • Fair enough, didn't realise Qantas codeshare, thats unfortunate then

        yep
a friend of mine paid for Qantas tickets and ended up on Jetstar plane.
Meals werent "free" and the service was crap

When I flew, the staff knew the seat numbers of the people who booked through Qantas and they just got their food, headphones, whatever for free as they would on a Qantas flight. I don't think there is much of a difference but boy the Qantas flyers are surprised when they realize it's a Jetstar flight.

I flew to HNL earlier this year and it was a Qantas plane there and back. Some Jetstar customers on the return flight.

  • I was pondering a holiday to Hawaii just a couple of weeks ago - after a bit of research, it seems most forum posts agree, fly Hawaiian Airlines over the Jetstar/Qantas planes… of course if the Jetstar flights went for very cheap like the link a couple of comments up, that might sway me in that direction.

    • Hawaiian Airlines 2 x 32kg Checked Baggage Allowance make it worth if you are a shopper.

  • The $1067.33 flights are QF MEL-SYD & HA SYD-HNL (so no Jetstar). The JQ flights are going for $1019.

  • Just booked two for March, good deal IMO.

  • I used to go to Hawaii often as a holiday, back 8-10 years ago when it was about $600 return including accom.. I dont understand why it's so expensive these days when every other route has dropped in the last 10 years. Like Neil said, it's only $100 more to fly to LA.
