Roborock S8 Pro Ultra Robot Vacuum $2197 (Was $2699) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

100

One of the best robovacs on the market and on special!

I know there is an S8 Max V for pre-order but that is $2999, almost $1000 more expensive and not worth waiting for given this price imo.

Best price currently available for the White version available in stores.

Big W's current offer does include free delivery. So there's a potential to spend $148 less unless you have to (1) get it in white and (1) are allergic to buying things online,

    • You think the Woolworths extra subscription will bring this down a further 10%

      • Capped at $50

    • $2049 on kogan as well ($1999 for kogan members )

I just got a q revo max v, we only have floor boards and I am very impressed

    • I know you just purchased it, and not sure if it's your first robovac, but if you were to be objective how is the obstacle avoidance?
As someone who's played with a few robovacs, I think it's the most important factor.

      • yea it is my first robot vacuum. so far obstacle avoidance has been good, there is a caveat to that is that we haven't tested it out, we have been keeping the floor clean of clutter. hasn't got stuck yet. I got the max v over the standard revo primarily for the object avoidance

        • I own the q revo maxv and Obstacle avoidance is average. It doesn't pick up wires really well and has so far got stuck on kids undies, small plastic paper/packet, scruchie and so on…

QREVO maxv looks like the sweet spot at the moment?

    • Why do you say that?

      • +1

I think maxv has superior navigation and object avoidance compared to the non-maxv models. The S8 Max V it's around a thousand dollars more than the q r e v o

got one of these about a month ago. we have a mixture of carpet and tiles/floorboards.

The cons as I see them a few weeks in
The software is clunky, and although it mapped fairly well, it doesn't get open floor living. The room divider tool doesn't work as well as expected.
It sees through windows if you have windows that go down to the floor or glass sliding doors to outside areas.so although it can't get to those areas, it still populates on the map.
The mop is good, not great.
Corners, as with other auto cleaners, are one of its weaknesses.
You can't just chuck any old floor cleaner in the tank. They want you to buy their branded one which has a fat, inflated price.

    The Pros.
Extra free time not having to vacuum and mop.
Being able to vacuum and mop at the same time without having to manually change modes or parts is fantastic.
The software as clunky as it is, once you've set your rooms up and your "no go zones" is easy to use.
The vacuum function appears to to a bang up job.

If anyone has any specific questions, let me know.

About the software and open floor living, you need to tweak it a bit but can get it done, a few splits and merges will do the trick.
About the windows/mirrors/ghost areas, I just added them as no-go zones (but I agree it is annoying but had same issues with other brands)
No issues with the mop on floorboards, works flawless for me.

Why not the Dreame L20 Ultra https://dreame.com.au/products/dreame-l20-ultra-robot-vacuum…

Much better IMO and winner of vacuum winners best robot vacuum 2023. Has camera (not for you if you have china spying concerns), mop extend, auto detergent, 7000 pa suction, 3yr warrany and more. Also the base station looks nicer and has shortcut buttons on top.

This is also a better option for Roborock fans https://www.amazon.com.au/Roborock-Revo-MaxV-Refilling-Avoid…

  • How does this compare with the Ecovacs X2 Omni?

    • yep, i'd be interested to know this comparision too

    • omni is real bad apparently

I got this a month ago and my floors have never looked cleaner and the amount of dog hair and hair from my daughter and wife it has picked up is incredible. It's a huge cost but it has made the wife and I very happy that we can set it and forget it.

Also remember to empty the dirty water tank after each mop otherwise it will stink bad, especially if you have dogs.

    • agreed. I also clean the dirty water after each use. I've also removed the bottom rollers a couple of times to remove all the hair that winds around them.

      • Yeah forgot to mention all the hair that ends up getting rolled up but it's so simple to remove as well

  • Hmm I was starting to get excited about the Q Revo MaxV spinning mop, but now it seems this is the flagship with an older style flat mop? Anyone with real world experience of the two mop types?
