460

Purchase these three together in one transaction:
Woolworths Fuel
Woolworths Mobile Sim Card ($2)
Woolworths Mobile Recharge ($29/$49)

Receive $15 off fuel.

Looks to have replaced the $20 gift card promo that ended Nov 3. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/79352

Don't have any more details other than the stand at the counter as the websites seem to not have any info on it at this stage. The terms did say that you have to spend at least $15 in fuel I think.

  • I take it there is nothing stopping you from using the recharge voucher with an existing sim?

  • Once you activate the recharge for how long the credit last for? I am looking for a sim for a visitor who just want to have a local sim as the secondary one and want to keep the credit for 5 months without expiring automatically. Just want to use that sim for incoming calls.
BigW sells Telstra sim with $30 credit for 10 bucks. But the credit expires in 30 days.

    • Once the credit expires on the Woolies sim you have 6 months to recharge before you lose the number.

So you have 6 months of incoming calls once the credit expires.

    • 45 days credit expiry.

    • By the way on the Telstra sim just activate the long life plan & you will have 6 months to use up the credit.

      • $2 per megabyte of data? Ouch!

        • You can always purchase the Prepaid Browse Plus Pack for 200Mb for $10. Or transfer to Simplicity for 10 cents a Mb.

Check out http://www.savvytel.com.au/prepaid/call-credit-never-expire For $5 minimum and never expires. Can't go wrong. Plus their $10/90 day expiry with calls for 10c pm and no flagfall. I use them because I couldn't find cheaper, plus they use Optus network so just as good as …

      • Thank you mate. This is perfect for my requirement. Only problem is that Starter Packs are "Out of Stock" :(

This ought to stack with 10% off WW mobile recharges using Every Day Rewards card.

    • I did not get 10%. Did they ever do that at petrol stations?

  • buik selling, good bargain

  • Excellent deal, need to recharge my woolies mobile soon. Thanks.

    • Just remember you need to buy a new sim as well, even if you already are a woolworths customer.

  • +2

Whats the expiry date? Looks like time to stock up on vouchers for the family again.
The servo guys will be saying "Didn't you buy $15 of fuel just 2 minutes ago?".

I know! Put $15 in, move to the next pump, another $15, then a third, then go in to pay and get three vouchers.

  • do these come in micro-sim/data packs for ipad?

    • Mini or micro, but I have not seen the new nano ones.

  • +2

Aren't there all sorts of rules for identity when getting a new SIM card? This is going to be a nightmare for time strapped petrol stations with half a dozen people waiting in the queue. Or am I missing something?

    • This was my initial thought as well.

It won't only potentially lead to a big queue in the store, the poor sucker behind you at the petrol tank will also have to wait while you mess around with sim cards and paperwork. Unless we are both missing something?

    • I don't believe you have to activate there, and then. As long as you've made the required purchases in the same transaction, you get the $13 ($15-$2 sim) discount.

      • True, no activation requied on purchase, still require to get your ID down in the system though. Last time I bought WWS prepaid it took like 5 mins for the staff to put it through…

        • +1

At BigW the self serve lets you put a Woolies sim through, Optus etc flag an attendant down.

Good way to get an anonymous sim card.

Just got back from my local Caltex / Woolworths here in Brisbane. No promotional material at all on display.

      • I went to Booval at Ipswich and asked for it. It doesn't take it off automatically. There is a bar code they need to scan. It took him 10 minutes to find it. I got my $29 recharge, $2 sim and 27.83L fuel for $49.25.

I had to fill out a form and show ID for the Sim.

        • +1

Which WW petrol stores are these available from?

I've been to two so far, and no promo materials on display, they didn't even sell the Woolworths mobile sim cards :/

    • Aren't there all sorts of rules for identity when getting a new SIM card?

Sometimes rules seem more like guidelines. Servo's rarely bother. They are supposed to check ID on both purchase and activation.

  • I got this deal when I bought my $2 sim and $29 recharge on the 1st of November. Very strange that it has took this long to show up on Ozbargain. Maybe I should have posted something… d'oh!

    I got;

    Petrol: $15
    Sim: $2
    Recharge: $29

I used my everyday rewards card, I also got fuel discount(lol), and it came to around $26.50.

Got my $20 gift card on the way, so, I got about $66 of value for $26.50.

      • Well played. +1 to you, sir.

  • agreed Elitethem should have shared it on ozbargain. if i knew i would have filled up with fuel before nov 2nd to get the $20 gift card too. anyway does anyone know when do these recharge vouchers expiry dates are? sounds like a good time to stack up on them if they dont have to be activated for 12 months.

    • Just brought one today, my expires 1/12/13.

      • -1

Wow, a whole year? Great! Or were you using US date format?

        • A year is pretty typical for recharge vouchers.

  • How long does this offer go for? Its going to be a pain to go 6 times to get a years worth of recharges

    • until the end of december, as posted above. Don't you need 8 or 9 vouchers?
So I figure 3 visits of 3 purchases each. A bit of a pain.

maximize your profit here is the tips
    1. fill your petrol at $15
    2. pay using your $20 gift card from previous promotion.
    3. the balance using your orange debit card pay wave.

  • Very good, effectively $12.90 after applied EDR discount & -15.00. Also, in previous promos the

    Woolworths Mobile Sim Card ($2)

has appeared as a line item

       *EDR SIM OFFER -2.00

So that could be even $11.10 after waived SIM charge.

Not bad for $7.40/month competitive with $10/3gb TLS.

  • +1

and you can return the sim later to get a $2 refund.

    • Has it worked for you? When I tried to return an unused SIM to a supermarket they said they don't do that.

      • yes, I returned 4 a few months after the half-price deal earlier in the year.

  • +1

Picked up a set today in Cairns, thanks to timmye for pointing out this deal.

BTW, SIM cost is not waived, so $13.10 for 5GB of data for 45 days. Great value for this country.

  • Oops - some confusion . It is naturally only through Woolies fuel outlets , transacted there and then.

  • Nice deal.

  • I tried this at Strathfield in Sydney. The cashier scanned SIM card and recharge but the discount wasn't applied. I asked if discount is applied and he said I need to have a woolworths petrol discount voucher in the everyday rewards card. It didn't work for me.

    • anyone can confirm if we also need petrol discount voucher in the everyday rewards card as well?

      • hmm I see my writing has been illegibly poor (as per usual) on ozbargain…

VITAL you keep track of your no. of remaining fuel saving offer on your EDR card i.e. per each $30 groceries shopped adds a fuel discount to ur a/c 'to be eligible' for "$15 off".

An economising tip I found is to lend card to ur missus or mum who can scan it after shopping, login @ https://www.everydayrewards.com.au to review.

Affirmative - combination did not work; instead crudely makes assumption about my shopping habit. Offer is pointless where one primarily does groceries at the value for money chains Aldi & Coles. I will be sorely tempted to revoke my vote unless transparent copy of these conditions is made available forthwith/ by 14/11.

PS: Woolworths mobile will be reminded that the better stocked $10 per 3GB Coles Telstra packs are never that far off. /Grr

    • $10 for 3GB Telstra. ! ? Do you know something you should be sharing ? I don't see it on OZB. /Grr

      • uh-huh the range would be 1.1GB—3GB, as referenced in multiple posts incl. the latest one. ..+who knows, Next G might even prove the better csp/netwrk for voIP.

        • None mention 3GB for $10.

        • Purchase the $30 starter kit from Big W for $10, Call Telstra to activate the sim over the phone, & make sure you activate it as a iPad sim & you will get 3GB for data. Kapish?

One necessary clarification : There are two types of Caltex-Woolworths petrol stations , one being the Woolworths owned and the other being the Caltex owned.
The attendant at one indicated that the easiest way to distinguish between them was the uniform of the staff (or just ask).

I tried the deal at the Woolworth’s Caltex-Woolworths in Joondalup (Perth), but the system wasn’t processing the $15 discount since last night.

    Possibly just a local glitch.

    • There are two types of Caltex-Woolworths petrol stations

Correct. Another characteristic is Woolies co-branded stations often advertise a "discounted" petrol price on the board. Or check using the locator on the Woolies website.

  • I filled up with $15 at my local station and went in to pay but apart from having a big ad located on the counter, the attendant was not able to apply the fuel discount. I'll try again tomorrow.

  • Anyone found a station selling these in north Brisbane? Been to the one in Carseldine and there was nothing :(

  • I have this placed for others assuming some could use guidance in claiming the promo. Hopefully an encouragement. As ecologicalpossum noted " http://apps.nowwhere.com.au/caltex/locator/" for your woolworths refilling stops.

Presumably since I have been through this routine twice I might refund/ re-cycle my unopened Sim pack(s) at the woolworth's servos such that I cause less impact as stocks deplete.

Also for me it should be beneficial to keep one spare as I revert mobile from sureTelecom, just that for any surplus cards I should return those to the pool, recycle. Practiced that anybody?…

    NOTE:

VITAL you keep track of your no. of remaining fuel saving offer on your EDR card i.e. per each $30 groceries shopped adds a fuel discount to ur a/c 'to be eligible' for "$15 off".

An economising tip I found is to lend card to ur missus or mum who can scan it after shopping, login @ https://www.everydayrewards.com.au to review. Of course, if you are conscious of a co-located woolworths supermarket + petrol outlet this can also save time. 5% off using giftcard—I haven't tried.

To summarise: Woolworths created the promo to tie food($30) fuel(-$15) & mobile($28.1) into a bundle, that at $58.1-a-pop [ =20 per cent discount] would keep the bargain hunters on our toes.
