Just in general, these things are getting so cheap!

    • I paid $1428 for similar dimension Sony (and only 50hz) in 2009, so yes you're right.

  • DAMN, nice… great price for a smart TV….

  • a wifi adaptor from BigW is $88

    http://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/mobile-phones-internet/mo…

can anyone find it cheaper else where or are there any generic branded ones that would work?

    • I bought one yesterday from Good Buys Moorabbin for $77.

  • What is the screen refresh rate for this one? 50 hz ???

    • Motionflow XR100 = 100hz

    • 40" is 100hz

      46" is 50hz :(

      • 46" is still 100hz according to the sony website

        • No, both EX650 models are 50Hz but use interpolation to get the Motionflow 100 tag (the HX750 is 200Hz but gets a Motionflow 400 tag for the same reason).

Having said that, the picture quality is fine to my eyes (I have the 46" model).

Also, it should be noted that there is no wi-fi built in. However, a wi-fi ethernet bridge is only about $17 on eBay.

        • Thx for the info

        • could you please post a link to the one you bought? thanks

Technically its still 50hz, XR 100 motionflow is just sony's branding so that it behaves like a 100hz TV.

Hz doesnt really matter- pixel change rate/state (or whatever you want to call it) is what you want to know.

  • Damn I'm tempted….

    first :
    - nice price for a 2D TV

    second:
    - quote "Experience life-like pictures no matter what you are watching"

eversince I've watched a 3D movie at a friend's house, 2D TV suddenly seem "flat" to me.
    it's not the same anymore….

  • Yeah, its a cracking tv. Bought one a few months ago when Costco had a $120 off voucher. I originally bought a Sonic tv from JB for the kids to watch and was so disappointed in the image quality that I took it back. Got the 40EX650 and it looks soooooo much better that the Sonic did. That'll learn me for going the too cheap option.

Ths base refresh rate is indeed 50Hz, but the Sony processing works well and the picture looks great.

  • Learning that its only 50hz(even if sony says its as good as 100hz), and 2D
I would spend extra $200 for either a Samsung or a LG 3D TV with built-in WiFi (if JB does a discount for you)
As these two would play almost anything you throw in on a USB ane LG's 3D is one of the best in the market.

    Nice price nevertheless

  • bought one…..tried to get a better price at JB but the guy said it's less than their store price, also said that it is a very good price for a sony tv. yet to try internet capabilities…..any idea whether using a wifi router as a bridge will do the job to make it wireless!!

  • For anyone thinking about buying the 46" model, it'll be $948 with a bonus wish $100 gift card from Tuesday, a ~$30 saving.

    • is this in next weeks catalogue?

      • Yep, the one starting tomorrow says "bonus $100 gift card when you purchase any TV or computer (excludes apple) $899 or over", and the 46" is listed at $948.
