    hi, so its 1.5MBs bandwidth?

  • +5

    12mbps, really?

  • +6

You can get 25/10 for $59/m and 50/20 for $61/m. No deal.

    • Tangerine has 25/8.5 for $49.90/m

      • -5

Yes, Tangerine will do that for 6 months, then $64.90.

        • +3

          So what?

          This is OzBargain.
You will find most folks will have jumped ship onto the next deal before they cop a bill for the seventh month.

          • -5

@DoctorCalculon: Sure, but then there are lot of folks who just want a reasonable deal without the hassle of bouncing around.

            • +1

              @bethumd: Not at 12/1.

              • -5

@Twix: The point remains that claiming a plan is $49.90/m when it's only for an initial period is not being straight.
Sure, many hear will jump on a honeymoon deal, but other just want a reasonable price ongoing, which $59/month is.

                • +2

@bethumd: Most on here know to jump every 6-12 months to get the best price. Sometimes there are free month deals on any speed tier including Gigabit and $1 for 1 month nbn deals. 12/1 is the least used speed tier. At least make it 50/20 next time.

    • Who sells 50/20 for 61?

      • Exetel is one example.

  • +3

    AoL, really?

  • +2

just making sure, is this ADSL or NBN? ta

Share cost with ur neighbour for a better connection than this unlimited crap

  • +2

    That haunting dial-up tone…

    • +2

… and that dreaded connection drop when one of your family members starts using the phone.

  • +2

    Dial up modem?

  • +1

    Doesn’t sound great

  • +2

Less than half the speed of basic Aussie broadband internet I would expect it to be half the price of Aussie broadband.

    • Actually the same speed as ABB and $6 cheaper.

Not many would want 12/1. Those that do. Good on em.

      • True, I was referring to the basic plus at 24Mbps for $75/month.

      • -1

That's right, our equivalent to ABB basic 25/10 is $6 cheaper,
as is our 50/20 which is $79/month as opposed to ABBs $85/month.

    • and our Basic Plus equivalent to ABB is $69 as opposed to their $75,
our 50/20 is $79 as opposed to ABB's $85 and
our 12/1 is $59 as opposed to TPGs $69.99
      So there's that.

      • +1

If your deal is so good, why does the deal have 12 down votes and not a single up vote?

        • +1

And is it a deal if it's the ordinary, everyday price for their product? Or just OzAdvertisting?

        • +1

          Edit: 14 down votes.

  • +6

    GET HIM GUYS !!

  • +1

can I know what is the deal here? Very expensive than many competitors.

      • well 12/1 $59 is still expensive and making high cost of living even higher by promoting here and well you are still not providing that shady discounts. Come on.

  • +2

    Wow, that's expensive !!!

  • I'm interested in what RSP this one is using. That decides if the 12/1mbps speed would get used sufficiently 🫠

Also if it will be IPoE instead of PPPoE, peering and uptime in general.

    • It's PPPoE and uncongested.

    No ABN on website.
Reviews saying 10+ years service but using a .au domain which has only been registered 2 years….
    Yea pass.
Not to mention the terrible price.

    • +13

The ABN is hiding in their legal documents, plus they also change their domain and/or business name frequently… Kinda suss.

Using .au domain, doesn't date the company as only 2 years old.

    • How is it a terrible price,
TPG charge $69.99 for 12/1 unlimited?

  • +2

seems like a great deal in 2000

    • In 2000, you'd be paying $29.95 for 56Kbps.

  • +1

Come on OP, at least have the decency to stay online for a bit to address questions and concerns. It looks like your just using the platform for advertising.

    • -3

Hi, happy to be online, happy to respond.

  • +1

Too slow for OF urgent late night browsing

  • +1

Congrat OP you wanted people to know your company but now everyone will remember you as not so good deal provider

  • +1

Hey OP, this is a rip off!

  • -5

Hi Wizard, why do you think it's a rip off?

    • +3

Have you read any of the above comments. Also, use the reply button when replying.

    • +2

Because its a bad price. We are baragin hunters here. Only a mere fool would disagree. Stop shilling your overpriced shady internet here.

  • Compare your service against these providers. Without bias, which would you choose? https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Guides/australia-int…

    • -1

All those price points are honeymoon deals, that go back up after the introductory period.
Fine, but our price is one of the lowest on an ongoing basis.

      • You're half the speed of the one $5 cheaper than you (Spintel)…after the honeymoon deal.

        • -3

And have you dealt with spintel?
          https://au.trustpilot.com/review/spintel.net.au

          • +1

            @bethumd:

And have you dealt with spintel?

OP, there is a famous saying: "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."

You are criticising Spintel based on their Trustpilot ratings, but your company ("Australia Online") doesn't even have an entry on Trustpilot.

  • +1

How high are you guys right now?

  • $64 for 100/20 with Dodo for 6 months via Whistleout.
Not sure what provider this company uses but Vocus isn’t too bad especially with the days of CVC gone…

  • +1

Really?? 12/1?? Are we going backwards here is Australia? Imagine trying to run a PS/XBox and someone sends an email…… boom game crash!

    • -3

Undoubtedly 12/1 isn't for you, but for those who are wanting internet at an ongoing low price with a company
that answers their phones, then it's a good deal.
And if 12/1 isn't what your looking for, maybe some of our plans at other speeds might be of interest.

      • Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I don’t think 12/1 is for anyone at that price. People would be better off going to say Circles Choice, last time I saw (late last year) they had 500GB for $30 a month.

But not my company, I just hope you take some feedback from what people are writing as I can’t see any positive ones.

  • +1

I never saw a deal with such many red flags 🚩🤣

  • +1

    Terrible deal

  • +2
    Where is the bargain?

My elderly relatives aren’t even on a plan that slow.

  • Can you do 12/1Mbps for $29/month instead?

    • No one does 12/1 unlimited for $29/month.

      • +1

That is the point, I'm looking for a bargain.

        • +1

What do you think this is, mate, some kind of Australian Bargain site or something ??

  • Wheres your call centre?

    • Australia.

  • +1

TPG FTTB Network 100/20 $54.99/month for 12 months (New Customers) @ iiNET, ooooooorrrrrrrrrrrr this deal?

    • -1

Sure, If you're on TPG's FTTB network it's a great option, but it has limited coverage.

      • Even their Wireless Limitless 20/2 is $49.99 pm, yes it goes up after 6 months, but who stays with their provider after their deal runs out?? Lazy people more than often.

I’m not sure why you are getting so defensive, your plan isn’t that good at all, not saying it won’t suit people, but probably not 98.5% of this country

        • -1

TPG's wireless unlimited 16/2 is $44.99 honeymoon then $54.99 is a comparable plan, certainly better than their 12/1 $69/month.
Who stays after the deal? Well every provider offering a time limited honeymoon deal is expecting a significant number will stay, and presumably
that is their experience otherwise they wouldn't keep on offering them because the honeymoon deals aren't profitable.

  • +1

    OP, sorry, just too exxy.

  • For those that just want a basic NBN connection for email or to use a phone I think this plan suits. The price is one of the cheapest ongoing prices for that speed plan. It is not really a bargain in the sense you can get much faster for not a lot more but that is true of plan all the way up the speed tiers now. eg. nbn1000 prices are not 10 times the price of nbn100 either. If you ignore speed and just base it on those folk that want a basic connection, the price is pretty good.

    • -1

Thanks Ruprect for your considered response.

    • They're better off with a data plan for their phone if they're only using email. You can get them for around $10/month.

      • -2

        Maybe, but this is unlimited.
A phone plan is good for those who want the data to follow them with their phone and aren't after household wifi
This works for those who do want unlimited household wifi, don't want to spend a whole lot of money and don't want to have to swap in and out after a honeymoon period every 3 to 6 months. Horses for courses.

      • -2

I might add, there are people on our 12/1 rather than our 100/40 that suck as much as a 1TB in a month, so clearly there are some folks who do use 12/1 for a whole
lot more than email but don't want to pay a lot.

  • +2

Negative voting is capped to 6 per 24hrs.
@bethumd I will be back to downvote your stupid and ridiculous comments tomorrow. No one should ever be using your services in this day and age.

    • +4

      This post was a Trainwreck

      • +3

It's unfortunate because the OP was assumingly (judging by the username) the self-proclaimed CEO of the company, Michael Bethune. So they probably were passionate about their business / product.

  • Great deal thanks OP

    Edit: misread, meh deal….
