Nexus 7 32GB 3G $399 @The Good Guys

440

Just saw the 3G version of Nexus 7 on Good Guys' site for $399, haven't seen it anywhere else yet, but it's apparently in stock, so thought I'd share. First time posting, so if I've done anything incorrectly, sorry about that.

Thanks.

  • Nice find, I wasn't expecting this to surface locally for awhile, perhaps early 2013…

It's a new product, many other tablets have phone / non phone variants, it'll show up on play soon enough.

There is a 3G version of nexus 7, just hasn't been released in the Australian google play store.

This will be the price for australia. So it should be moved to forum. Also it is a thread about it in whirlpool and looks like GG are delivering this early December.

About bloody time Google have been dragging their feet!

  • "Haven't seen it anywhere else yet." So how is it a bargain then? Isn't it just the RRP? Seems expensive to me.

  • +4

Im quiet sure the Australian RRP on the google play store is supposed to be $349 when it launches. Now if i can only find the site from where i fonunt that info. It corelates with all the other US prices for hardware. AU prices are all priced $50 more that the US. Nexus 7 3G in the US is $299

    • The expected retail price for the Nexus 7 32GB 3G Model is $349 (per numerous websites), however this pricing excludes delivery (which is about $25 - Good Guys are charging $10 for delivery or free pickup from a store). So when it does get officially released, it will be cheaper getting it from Google, but you have to wait to get it shipped from overseas.

Some people would be happy to pay the $25 "premium" to get it from a local retailer and have the ability to return it. I am sure as with everything at Good Guys, you could knock a few dollars off the price as well.

As for the prices in the US, people are forgetting that US prices are exclusive of sales tax (whereas Australian prices are inclusive of GST). Once you add in the respective US State Sales Taxes of 7-12%, the price difference gets smaller. So $299 plus sales tax of $30 is $329USD vs $349AUD is not that large and would generally cover FX fluctuations and the smaller Australian Market.

Personally the $399 price will probably be the standard price for a brick and mortar store in Australia, so not a bargain. However The Good Guys are the first people I have seen who have listed the price and are taking orders, so an interesting post for that information.

shipping from the play store is $19 not $25. I dont have a problem it was priced at $$369. But $399 is just plane stealing considering it can be had for $299 in the US before sales tax

        • +26

Plane stealing is much harder after 9/11.

          :p
why you should not post a reply before a coffee

      Approx $328Aud

    • And B&H are well recommended. Ordered product on Sunday night & it arrived at my home on Friday morning. Five days is not long to wait if the price is right,

  • how is this bargain when in US this is $299?

    • +1

Seriously, there are heaps of things are cheaper in US, sadly you are living down under.

it is a bargain if u can't get it to au with $299 LOL

      • +2

Strat just posted a link from BH for 330 AUD delivered.

    • you might be right. its only $100 difference!! this is not a bargain when we are used to pay 50-100% more

  • +3

Not a bargain. Of interest as it's the first sign of pricing for the 3G version of the tablet!

  • Can this version of the Nexus7 make phone calls like the old Galaxy Tab?

  • At $399 USD, the Nexus 10 is in stock in the US Play store, too.
Since it is available to order there, it may be another option for some people, if 32Gb / 3G isn't essential.

  • Forums.

  • ps: if Bing Lee adds it to their website, the $30 Amex cash back will make it more of a bargain.

  • Gonna wait for price to come down. $300 or less than I will think about it

      after christmas and Jan

This is an advert not a bargain - should be in the forums.

  • Does Good Guys offer Standard Warranty at all? I might pick up if $399 including one year.

    • Even if they don't(which they probably do), I believe ASUS offers a 12 month warranty?

      • Thanks mate. Will buy one then.

    • They have to, it's the law. Statutory warranty says, if they sell it, they have to fix it if it fails within a "reasonable time", which would be at least a year.

  • Nexus 7 lags… I took my one back.

    • No it doesnt. Either ur device was defective or ur a fanboy.

    • Feel free to pay twice as much elsewhere then, all the more for us :-)

  • Plain rip off if you compare with us price delivered from bhphotovideo.com

    • Not really a fair comparison since everything sold locally is more expensive than imports. Including hamburgers.

      • +1

Where do you get imported hamburgers from?

        • Well a lot of Maccas in Asian countries do home delivery. Never stopped to check the conditions though…
