Dick Smith 10% off Apple Mac until 26/11/12

160

For people disappointed with Apple's Black Friday "sale", Dick Smiths is having a 10% off sale on Apple Computers.

Their website shows 9 Macbook Pros and 4 Macbook Airs available; I can't see 13" Retina or iMac there though.

Macbook airs are: http://dicksmith.com.au/computers/apple-computers/macbook-ai…
Macbook pros are http://dicksmith.com.au/computers/apple-computers/macbook-pr…

Looks like the Mac Minis are in there too. Edit: http://dicksmith.com.au/dsau/search/dsau_search_results.jsp?… but as below they may be out of stock.

    • Blink and you'd miss it :)

  • no mac mini's :(

  • Am I missing something here? The MBP i've been eyeing off is the same price as yesterday

Or did this deal start before today?

Still +ing because DS is the best price I could find from a retail store.

Possible that it started yesterday; unity1's link certainly suggests that might be the case. Retail on that one is $3100; they claim $319 off that.

  • Use your wish card and get further 5% off then TSR it.

I am looking at the 13' Mac book air, after wish gift card and TSR come to $1043 WOW!!

Now the question is Do I really need a MAC book air??? OF COURSE NOT :)

    • For the uninformed, what's TSR and where do I get a wish card? On a $3k purchase I'd love an extra 5% off :)

      • I have entertainment book and get 5% off the card when you order it. But if you only order now would be too late to make the promotion

and my wrong, should be Tourist Refund Scheme TRS, get your tax back if you travel within 30 days of purchase.

Do you really need it? That's not the OzBargain spirit now is it?

  • Just price match the mini at the apple store. I did.

  • Looks like you can't get a 16GB MacBook Pro Retina … only the standard 8GB :-( Is there any way of getting a custom order from DS? Or do they only sell the stock standard?

    • You can get them to order it for you, but by default there's no discount on Build-To-Order (BTO). I recall someone talking David Jones into it once though.

There is a little discount ($100 or so) availabe on Apple Store for build-to-order.

  • after a few attempts i managed to get the base mac mini over the phone from apple for $630.

    • the new model with USB3 and Ivy Bridge?

      2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
      4GB memory
      500GB hard drive1
      Intel HD Graphics 4000
      OS X Mountain Lion

      or the old model?

Using EPP, I can get the new model delivered for $656
      Ships: 1-2 business days
      Free Shipping
      A$ 656.70

      • yes, new model

        • Great price; what was your strategy to get them down to that price?

        • The Apple rep told me to send in details about Dick Smith's offer so that he could pricematch and would get back to me… Still waiting after an hour :(

  • +1

i had the same response from a couple of reps. on the third try they offered the 10% off on the spot. no idea why it was any different than the previous tries.

    keep trying!

    • Ok then. Calling them again :)

      • Still no go. I think I'll just go to Dick Smith and get it there :(

        • Note - DickSmith is selling the previous generation mac mini (versus the new model with USB3 and Ivy Bridge and 4GB ram)

        • True, but that's only the ones that they have on their website. I'll go in store and enquire about current gen models and see if I can do a raincheck. This worked last year when I bought a Macbook Air off them and they had no stock at the time.

  • i would have done the same but couldn't see stock anywhere.

edit, now im confused… what is the model no. of the new mini?

    • MD387X for the particular one you are after. It is the base i5 current gen model.

      • ok, thats whats on my order. phewwww. was worried for a moment there.
