I didn't even know I needed one but I bought one anyway. Thanks for saving me money!!

  • Thanks, got one.

Another excuse to tackle those projects.

  • Nice, I missed out on this one last time!

  • Got one too. Sick of my cheapy being flung around by the elastic-ness of the power cord and burning me and my stuff! This can only be better!

$15.74 is the member price, sign up or login and it will revert to this price.

    Thanks, missed out last time…

Bought 2… The other will make a nice xmas gift.

Thanks. Have you got my new address?

  • thanks, needed one for a while now.

  • Good post, no idea why I got one but it looks popular. Now to find some projects so I can have a play when it turns up…

It's a good deal i paid $40 for one on fleabay. These are 1000x better than the POS unregulated ones

  • It looks very much like a Hakko 936 sodering station, but with a different brand name. Anyone know if Hakko tips and replacement elements will fit?

    • +2

Generally tips sold as "936" will fit - the Hako 936 is the standard, and all of these soldering stations are clones. (When I say "all of these" I mean that there are a lot of different brands)

Hobbyking are running some promotion on Monday (Facebook if you reach 1000 shares thing), so it MIGHT be worth waiting.

  • i got one too in the last deal.. took a long time to reach me.. havent used it yet hee hee

  • +1

I never got it last time (and got a refund after 4 months).

  • Just have to say after I got it last time I have already ruined the tip - it might be me being retarded but I have an iron with a similar tip that I have had for years with no issues. This irons tip went bad and solder refused to stick to it with just 30 mins usage. Luckily my other irons tip fit on it and it has worked well with that tip ever since.

    • +2

There are different coatings on different tips, I have had the same thing happen to me (not just this station - others as well). I think the tip may be more likely to go black if you leave the station on when not using it - in production soldering the tip stays useable. You will find that if your persist with the black tip and fluxed solder - say on some practice items - the black "opens up" again to a solderable tip surface - really - this worked for me.

I think the tip goes black mainly because the station was left unused (in my case, again, about 30 minutes) but also because I had it at the higher temperature needed for lead free soldering. For whatever type of solder you use, it pays to have the temperature just high enough to work efficiently.

  • awesome, been waiting for this since i missed it last time. anyone found some decent quality for an alright price solder to go with it?

  • For a cheap option to keep your iron from smoking, I have found putting a diode inline to its power supply gives it just the right amount of power to keep it at the right temperature.

    • +1

A diode in series may be a good solution for dropping temperature on a handheld ungregulated iron.

This is a soldering station, and the temperature is adjustable - you can just dial the temperature to the lower setting. The "secret" is to increase the temperature until you can ONLY JUST solder efficiently, with whatever solder and work you are doing.

To tell when the station has reached temperature, watch the power LED, it flashes when the tip reaches temp, it stays on when heating. These comments are applicable to any clone station, not just this one.

  • still waiting for popup after 5mins but nothing? stil $16.64

    • actually now it works after refreshing so many times :)

total cost was $24.73 (includes $8.99 shipping SYD METRO)

  • Shipping for me comes out to a lot more than 8.99?

    • try again.. lol maybe your in country too far and not metro areas?

  • What is the advantage of this one over the one without "Adjustable Heat Range"?

    • +1

      one heat setting…

      lol

  • Sold out! :(

HEY! Yo, Andyken?! You've stolen my avatar! That's a custom-designed hand-crafted Flippant original you're sporting there, mate! 8o

Many an hour I sat at my desk developing the intricate level of depth, the subtle nuances of shade, each individual pixel lovingly tweaked so they all came together as one in perfection. And here you've come along and theived it right before my very eyes! Why I oughtta… ~rolls up sleeves menacingly~

    =)

      lol =)

      Hahaha

  • I just bought one, so don't think its sold out. got all the confirmations through so hopefully it works out.

  • backordered

  • Perhaps "Back in stock" is misleading(?)

  • Damn, I was literally snoozing when I was losing out on this deal…would have gone nicely with one of these too: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/84300

  • I bought 2 items separately from hobby king recently.

The first was this solder iron thingy.. waited months for it.. and it arrived after I have forgotten about it. Item is shipped from Moruya in NSW south coast.

The 2nd is the multimeter.. it arrived within 2 weeks. still sitting idle here..
    Item is shipped from HK.

I would think that the delay is because the solder iron is sitting in a cargo ship making the slow journey to Australia :)

  • just received email from hobbyking with tracking number saying item is shipped. Delivered time 5-7days
    :)

    • Same here.. tracking number looks strange. Is it austpost?

      • Dont think its auspost, auspost only take up to 10numbers

        • yeah weird - but this is what we ordered:
Shipment: AusPost eParcel Basic 2kg (NSW Warehouse) $8.99

  • Just received my soldering kit by registered auspost 30mins ago!
Thats only 3days from order to receive!!
    Impressive….looks very durable ;)
Seems like a Great buy A++
Dont no wat to use t on atm.. LoL

  • Same. Arrived today.

  • I've have been wanting to get back in to soldering for years. I bought this deal from a link here about a month ago. I went back to the listing a few times & then I got this popup box offering me a deal. Not that much cheaper but, I thought I will take up the offer. It was about $25 delivered. I only got delivered the other day as their dispatch time is a bit lengthy.

    :-)
