Added coupon code for $20 off for online purchase; thanks elf!

So with the Wii U being released tomorrow, I thought i'd do a final check to find the cheapest local price.

Although cheaper than Kmart prices by only $1, this is ozb so I felt a need to share :)

Thanks to durd0008's original bargin: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85809

Perfect time for Fry Futurama meme - "Just take my money!"

Damn you Ozbargain ;) Fighting hard not to purchase!

  • Finally gave in and ordered a Wii U premium pack. This better not disappoint me short term!

    • +1

So long term disappointment is acceptable then? :P

generally most things do don't you think?

  • +5

For $358 including delivery how can anyone say no :D

  • I pre ordered week back and can 2 days ago thinking ill go pick it up from kmart and just got an email from big w saying the glove has been dispatched lol FREE GLOVE!

Also the nintendo land game cost min $50 so best to get the black

  • 358, canceled my big w preorder and ordered it again. Thanks for saving me 30 dollars.

  • Meh, I'd rather spend the money on a new Geforce GTX 6 series.

    • +1

      That will out-of-date next year.

      • My last Geforce (9800GT) lasted me 4 years. Only sold it a few months ago.

        • +1

Cost you 700$ four years ago and you sold it for $30 right?

        • No it was $169 new. Sold it for $38.

  • +1

    Temptation… temptation…
Nintendo console always tempt me, but the games price and lineup in Australia always turn me down. If this console doesn't have region lock, I would definitely pre-order this, especially at this price.

  • EDIT: Did not know the Nintendo Land was included in this bundle.

The Big W product page for Premium Pack strangely omits it.

    • a heap of people have asked this and Nintendo has said that all blacks come with it so lets hope big w dont stuff us around

      • It's in the box. Don't worry.

        • That's what people said when the Zelda Wind Waker: Collector's Edition came out. Then EBGames pulled out the bonus disc (with Ocarina, Majora etc) out and sold that separately. A date that will live in infamy.

        • EB are famous for their over the top inflated prices & crap trade-in system.
Simply, they rip ppl off 75% of the time. Other 25% they're only good when they have a sale.

  • can't select pick up … kind of a bummer as no chance I'll be home for a delivery… and I live 500m from a Big W and I know Aus post or whoever will make me collect it from them 2 suburbs or more away 2 days later.

  • How did you guys get $40 off pre order deal?

  • Thanks so much OP! I already pre-ordered from the previous $40 off deal, so I called them up and they agreed to refund the $30 difference. Happy!

  • Thanks. Order placed!

  • Thanks so much

  • Thanking you

I'm still interested in the reason that Nintendo doesn't release its real hardware spec.
And I guess, if the spec is good, they would release the info early on.

A rumor said it's only using a 920MHz CPU with 6 cores, which is considered as super slow by some of the developers, it is certain that its CPU is at the same level as PS3/Xbox360, GPU is slightly better, however the memory bus is slower, buyer beware.

Another reason that it is not attractive for me, it only supports LPCM 5.1 audio with HDMI (no optical port), so unless you have a very good receiver supports LPCM through HDMI, you can only hear stereo sound, so my Z906 is useless for a Wii U. I have to say not including optical port and Dolby Digital or DTS encoding is a downgrade.
    Info from NeoGaf.

Just because you don't like the product, doesn't mean you have to neg the deal. It is still a deal, and evidently lots of people have benefited from it.

      Info from NeoGaf.

LPCM 5.1 is a high quality format that can handle a higher quality sound than standard Dolby Digital or DTS. Any receiver that supports HDMI in the last 5 years should be able to support LPCM 5.1, even if they can't decode the Dolby Digital True HD and DTS MA formats. Having an optical port would be considered a downgrade compared to HDMI, it cannot handle the bandwidth of HD audio streams.

  • online price has now expired.

    makes my deliberation much easier.
(lack of particularly good games that aren't already on other platforms killed it for me, besides the first-party titles, which aren't quite enough.)

    • Still has it at $378 for me and the $20 discount works. Used it about 30mins ago and it's still at the same pricing

  • i get 278 says $50 off already and less the $20. cheaper when i got the prelaunch 3DS which was a fail on my wallet with the price drop month after.

i am a nintendo fan but kind of over the remakes or mario!! i dont know where my 3ds is anymore!

i wait for a drop or with a decent game bundle…

who thinks nintendo with become another sega and exit home consoles business?

    • who thinks nintendo with become another sega and exit home consoles business?

No, but in the end it ultimately depends on consumer uptake & whether they are profitable (as with any company).

They could go back to making cards? :- /

  • Premium version appears to have sold out online, which negates the $20 coupon :(
    Basic model still available.

    • I thought u only had to spend 100 dollars for the coupon?

      • Yes - but you can't use it if you can't actually order the thing online.

        • I think u can use the coupon on the basic model? so the coupon is still useful?

    • Well, when I tried to preorder last night, it said online and local pickup was unavailable but it still let me use the $20 coupon as well as successfully put through a purchase via PayPal. Would this still go through and will I be getting my Wii U on Monday?

  • I've just price matched this deal at JB Hifi Adelaide St, Brisbane, picking up in store. I got a Wii U Premium, an accessory pack (a black case, a stylus pen, and a screen protector), and Super Mario U game ($60) for a total of $438

    • Including the $20 discount?

      • +1

        $378 Wii U + $60 Super Mario = $438.

        What do you think non-thinker?

  • +2

Good thing I didn't cancel my pre-order with Big W that I placed two weeks ago. :)

Got the Wii U Black Premium Console with Bonus Silicon Glove for $338 (called up Big W to honour the new, lower price of $378 - and to honour the $40 off code on top of that).

Also placed another order for New Super Mario Bros. U for $48 (using the $20 off code - I did have to purchase something else to make the total hit $100, but it was something I was planning to buy anyway).

    Quite happy! Thanks OzBargain. :)

    • What? D:

You were able to get them to honour $378 and $40 off? …Madness! I couldn't even get them to honour $358 and refund/gift card $30 (I paid $388).

So I placed another order for $358 and now I have to return the $388 one :(. Some people were able to get the refund and some weren't. My stupid Wii U glove shipped when I called up so it was a bit harder to just cancel it but I don't see why they couldn't honour it for me.

You're extremely lucky to get it for $338 :)

    i pre-order with $388 ($40 discount).

and i called up BigW and whinge for the pricing.

now they promise to send me a $50 gift card.

    Thx OZbargain

  • I did the same pre-order with $388 ($40 discount). I rang this morning & I was NOT able to get any $ refund/Gift card. It is just NOT fair! :(

  • just back from HN and JBs at highpoint, HN sale girl said she can match the 298 less 20 bucks tried to say i get 10bucks off tomorrow with the everyday rewards card… but thats the best she could do. JB the dude there told me plenty of stock and said he could pass it for $260 basic model( i brought laptops and car stereos while back) but told me if im not in a rush wait for the final week of xmas 24hr xmas shopping as hinted possible game bundle at the price of what it is now or lower….. only a few weeks i will hold out.

or maybe big w or dse will throw another 40bucks off that time promo code?

  • BigW has auspost tracking, My WiiU hasnt seem to have left the warehouse, I thought I would have got it today or tomorrow…

    • I received my Wii U glove yesterday, but the Wii U console is no-where to be seen :(

      Both have this:

        • Looks like mine will be delivered today

05/12/12 07:25 On board with driver for delivery today

        • Mine is still sitting there FFS

  • just got mine, the box had no bubble wrapping or anything…so here's hoping the machine still works

  • when using the silicon glove on the wii u gamepad it doesn't allow you to use the charging dock…because the silicon glove makes it a bit too thick for the charge to reach :(

  • I got mine too. Just waiting a few years for it to update.

  • Big W Online have Wii U Premium stock again… add the 20 discount code and get the machine shipped free for $358! :-)
