cool, looking forward to it. Hopefully it won't fail like COTD :)

    • Yeah, hope you have enough stocks for us & your server can handle the heat!

  • Already posted - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/8627

LOL - I beat Mr Mwave. Can a mod please remove one? :D

    • How about just combine them? ^_^

      • :( Mine is now gone…

It'll be interesting to see the prices.

  • Looking with interest at 11am to see what price they come up with for the 7" EEE PC.
If that price is good, other purchases over the next few days may be iminent.
The 640GB HDD, the PS3, and the Wii all look tempting.

  • Hmmm… only 20 Wii's…

What are the odds of website Epic Fail at 2pm?

  • 1pm - 2pm: Olin DPF-701 Digital Photo Frame 7” TFT LCD with Media Player/Speaker & SD/MMC/MS Slot (DPF701)

Can you beat Kmart price $29? @_@

    • Kmart has an Olin frame for $29?

      • If he's referring to the weekend special they did a little while back, then no it was not an Olin.

        • That's the one…it's over but…

  • Cool, I can use my $10 paypal voucher hopefully

  • +1

    Oh crap!
I'm thinking another COTD disaster …

    Here's a better solution:
    1) Send your existing customers an email asking which items they are interested in purchasing.
    2) Select member names at random and send out emails with the offer. Give them 24 hours to reply.
    3) For those items still not sold, draw more names out at random.
    4) Continue until all sold

This way some people don't get all the way to checkout before getting the "Sold Out" message.
… and as an added bonus people don't waste hours trying to purchase something and hammer the site every hour.

    • You think a sale has anything to do with selling stuff? Here is a more ideal solution:
      1. Existing customers are banned from buying anything
      2. New customers are only allowed to buy ONE item if they promise to shop there again AND tell all their friends/family how wonderful MWAVE is.

  • lol dude wake up. You're dreaming.

I will reserve my vote to see how it all goes. Looks promising.

    • Agreed. Depending on prices, it definitely could be another COTD disaster.

  • This won't draw the mad rush COTD did, as the prices haven't even been revealed yet! So I doubt many prices will be sold at below cost like CoTD did with their baiting.

  • CoTDs sale was shockly bad. hope this will be better. I'm after the WD external Hard Drive if it's under $200

  • -1

this is all junk, these aren't going to be deals, if you haven't all figured out these sites bait you into thinking you're getting a bargain and you end up paying the same, or a very small amount under what they usually sell for on the site anyway.

    it's all bait advertising.

look at their site, the items on 'sale' are only 20 units of each item, how quick do you think 20 items will sell?

    • +1

Perhaps leave your harsh and negative comments until the sale STARTS.

    • well if everyone is a negative knob like you are, then probably for ages.

  • At least Mwave have provided the quantities for us. I suppose that is somewhat better than COTD. However i Don't get what is with the Web Price because when i click on an item it has a Store Price on it.

  • how much is their "flat rate shipping"?

  • I wasn't with this site during the COTD problems, so I'm not tainted by this experience. However, I'll wait for the first couple of items to see what sort of discounts are on offer before I hand out a "PLUS" for this one.

  • Prices are up for today's items

    EEE PC - $299.95
    Tomtom - $399.95
    Olin 7" frame - $69.95
    Creative MP3 player - $71.95
    iPod docking station - $85.95
    1TB external drive - $259.95

    • Hey the good thing about those prices are that there won't be virtual rampaging shoppers busting their web servers!

    • Olin 7” frame - $69.95
      1TB external drive - $259.95

      Doesn't seem bargain at all!

      • Agreed - Olin 7" for $59 here - https://shop.1wow.com.au/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcatego…

It's the Mwave Rip Off Sale!

        • So who's gonna have the balls to vote negative against 19 positives so far…

          • @MichaelRoos: LOL - some of the prices are ok…so I guess it doesn't deserve a negative

          • @MichaelRoos: I did. :)

            • @cacbm: Great, punish Mwave for not offering a killer price on all 18 of their items… When their sale hasn't even started yet.

              Genius.

              • @walugi: So one isn't allowed to give a negative vote before 11am? Even though the prices have been revealed?

                • @cacbm: Yeah if you had a decent reason. Bitching about a sale before it's even started really makes other shops want to reveal their price early right?

                  Good job

                  • @walugi: I don't know whether my reasons constitute "decent reasons". But if you scroll down a bit you can see I posted my reasons prior to my "I did" post.

But next time I'll be sure to email you my reasons before I vote negatively.

    • overhyped. Hardly a "super bargain". e.g. much better 9" netbooks have been on special for only slightly higher cost.
And Kmart win on the $30 7" frame :-)

  • Wake up guys. You all start voting before the prices are out. There not that good. Sure there 10%-20% less than the best price on static ice but there not door busting bargains..

    • True. And it's they're, not there. :D

  • Nothing has a discount for more than $20 with some as little as $7 on the first day. I don't see why they have to limit it to 20 items with those prices.

I don't think this deal is worth a positive vote. In fact I'll be the first one to vote negative as there is no substantial discount and I can get some items, for example, the TomTom for less than the advertised price very easily.

I think OzBargain should be a platform for bargains, and not a site to post every sales and promotions that a retailer runs. And this deal isn't, I don't think, a bargain.

    • Boom…there it is…the first negative!

      • quiet applause from those admiring true courage

    • I don’t see why they have to limit it to 20 items with those prices.

It just the way they advertise…Once we see limit stock then think must be a bargain & hook us in :D

  • What the hell, these prices aren't even cheap.
Thank you? This is a spit in the face!

  • +1

Now that prices have been revealed, if not interested, please go away at 4pm.
That external HDD is a bargain!

    • You can have all their 50 if you want :)

  • +1

wow, some of you ozbargainers can be pretty harsh…hardly a spit in the face lol
those prices really arent THAT bad. like others have said, they're not door-buster prices…but then again, who wants another COTD??

bearing in mind; the olin frame is much better than the kmart one and the ext HDD is e-sata, FW & usb - which is always more expensive than standard usb.

plus mwave are a pretty reputable bunch, so sometimes paying a bit extra for peace of mind is worth it yeah?

    • -1

Big deal, I got the WD 1TB Home Ed. with 400/800 FW & eSATA for $225 on 19 months deferred payment & interest. $260 + shipping is nothing nad I got it from a store around the corner that I can easily walk into if any problems.

The neg vote is because they copied COTD's idea to build up so much hype and let down. They should of taken a bigger hit on the prices to attain market awareness and more customers signed up who will visit their site again receiving their promo emails, etc.

Their Mktg dept failed, fire them

      • +1

fair enough, you shoulda posted that bargain… where is this "store around the corner" out of interest?

altho $225 on 19 months deferred payment + interest?? for real? times must be tough, perhaps you didnt really NEED that ext HDD.

        • haha yeah that's what I was thinking. If you need deferred payment for an external hdd you must be a real expert on bargains :p

          • -3

@walugi: Whatever, you spend your cash like a sucker, I 'll enjoy my things with no money down, whilst the cash I have is invested or simply accrues high interest in savings. You morons with your "GG, pay cash, pay less". Cash is for suckers. I always pay CC and only cash if its a great deal and there is no other form of payment. I also enjoy 100's of 1000's of FF points. Think about that when your impressing everyone in the store pulling green & yellow bills out of your wallet, I'm sure they're all very impressed.

            • @sash213: When you get a cash deal at GG they allow you to then pay with credit card. You are the loser for thinking you have to then fork out actual cash.

              • -3

@tomclancy: Ah you are the loser that spends on cc, and has to pay it off in a month. I got my $135 CASH back from MS on that keyboard, so I am up $135 and can pay off the keyboard in full in 2010 whilst you either paid in amonth or paid 20% cc interest on the debt. GG = shit all deals, HN will always compete and during their GE Promo periods to make the deal sweeter.

                • +2

@sash213: Nope - try again. Anyone with half a brain knows that there is no such thing as "interest free". Your purchase price is inflated by the interest amount (plus a profit margin for AGC) for the whole of the "interest free" period. So in fact it is you who is paying the higher interest costs, you're just deferring it until 2010. In fact if you had have asked the HN guy to give a proper cash price then there would have been further savings available to you. Nothing is ever "interest free".

                  • @tomclancy: I think they might also now be behind on their monthly $3.95 account keeping fees, which they failed to mention.

                    • -4

@AntMan76: true 4 bucks a month. Umm pay attention to the prices I got 4 months ago. $225 for the 8000 desktop RRP$450, constantlt sold for over $300. I got it for $225 - $135 Cashback = $90. I dont have to pay this off in full until 2010.

I do have to pay $4 a month account keeeping but I have made more than one purchase interest free, over $2,500. 4/2500= 0.0016.

The 1TB was also $225 but not the basic model, the Home Ed. 400/800 Firewire, eSATA, USB version.

I dont pay annual fees for my other CC's but maybe you do. I get them waived. I need ppl like you to pay up so it makes it possible for me to get my things for free or cheaper. Thanks suckers

        • -2

It wasn't an advertised deal, it was going in and talking to the right guy in the store. My point was more they built up too much excitement (by using the recent COTD offering that is still fresh in evryones mind).

As for the deal, it was HN, The 19 months interest free & deferred payment was for purchases over $500. I got the MS Desktop 8000 ($135 cash back) for $225 and a portable WD drive for work to get over $500 to be honest.

Still if they are able to do that and this was 4 months ago, then you could organise something similar if you just go in and talk. As long as you get it for less than $260 you get many benefits:

          • you do not reward Mwave for such a terrible promo, so they learn and come back with a better one.
          • you build up a r/ship with that salesmen and can go back for more deals easily as they recognise your continued business
          • you have the peace of mind your HD is not being mishandled by Auspost/ courier and trust me they kick those things around like Ace Ventura.
          • you dont have to ship your purchase back (insurance, more damage worries, etc) if anything goes wrong
          • @sash213: sash213 on 6 hours 37 min ago ¶

            ---------------

So you paid $275+ for the WD Drive if you paid $225 for the Ms Desktop 8000.
You don't even know what you paid only that it totaled over $500 and you don't have to pay for 19 months.
            Enough said.

    • bearing in mind; the olin frame is much better than the kmart one and the ext HDD is e-sata, FW & usb - which is always more expensive than standard usb.

…and it cost more than twice the price that kmart had and you call it a bargain :)

plus mwave are a pretty reputable bunch, so sometimes paying a bit extra for peace of mind is worth it yeah?

So your point is… mwave more reputable than kmart?

      • +1

haha i shoulda expected the flames :D

i'm just as much a tight-arse as the rest of you….but i don't think you can really compare those frames (as some ppl have been doing). I bought 2 of those kmart ones myself, and they're fine for basic use, but if you want speakers + remote, then i guess you have to spend a little extra? Although I admit someone found the olin for $59 elsewhere, cant argue with that….but i would rather order from mwave than that other place. personal opinion i guess, we're still allowed to have those on here right? :P

        • I never said mwave was more reliable than kmart! those are your own words buddy! I was saying in reference to other dodgy online retailers, that's all….
        • I agree different digital photo frames are different things. Much like a BMW v Toyota, they are all cars but vastly different.

  • +1

Well the EEE PC (Model#EEEPC701SD) is on sale for $299.95 and the cheapest I can find on ShopBot is $319 & $323 on StaticIce (http://www.shopbot.com.au/default.asp?kw=EEE+PC+701SD&positi… / http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=EEEPC701SD)

If you find cheaper anywhere else please feel free to email us, so I can talk to our managers if we can do better =P

    • $319.00 on ShopBot & StaticIce with Bonus Case and that's the normal price.

    • +1

May be it doesn't matter now, but actually there was a very better deal same time as yours:

Acer Aspire One on COTD for $319
      http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/Acer_Aspire_One_Linux_Editio…

If it makes you talk to your manager, I will be happy to see the result!(-:

Any way if your offers aren't good enough you will lose in a long run, as far as I see you are doing very well! so may be your manager chose the right way.

      • I wondered why no-one had posted the CoTD Acer Aspire One deal yesterday a'noon;;
Until I tried posting it myself,, and found out that CoTD is to OzBargain as "The Scottish Play" is to the theatre…
BTW, I ordered one One from CoTD y'day & it's supposedly been desp' today by o'night courier.
Maybe now I'll be able to prise the laptop out of my wife's hands and slip the little One in its place??? (Did anyone else see tonight's Simpsons?)

        Cheers,
        [ :- { )

        • BTW my CoTD One was delivered yesterday & I'm typing this on it as we speak.
          It's a wee ripper!!
          [ :- { )

  • -2

Talk about crap pricing.. OMG what a con.
Nearly as bad as COTD… ohh hang on no they arent, Crap of the day are on their own level in crappy of crappyness of crapola department

These Mwave prices really arent that good a quick check on shopbot and getprice shows they are still making a motza.

And they are limiting numbers. The old "tell them they can only have one and they are limited sales", marketing ploy - 'works everytime'.

  • not a good bargain. if we were voting for hype i would have voted positive

  • neg as the price is not a bargain

  • what a crock..

  • Prices are not bargain at all, in some cases (like the WD Mybook studio edition 1TB) not a bad deal (may be $30 less than market price) but the 50 unit stock limit means it's not a sale or stock clearance! it's a cheap advertising method. Not interesting for somebody who knows about those stuff they try to sell.
And the question remains that who they will to thank and for what?! For example their regular price for WD Studio edition is $346! it means those without patient or knowledge about the product and price will pay for those 50 people that Mwave wants to thanks! Funny!(-:

  • well the first day was a let down .. wont be expecting much for the next 2 days.

  • Finally found my login details!

If I could vote i'd say negative. Mwave always post crap deals that aren't really deals just advertising. They should be banned from this site.

    • +1

A Belkin surge protector for $64.95 + delivery was a crap deal? I THINK NOT.

MWave have posted GOOD deals. Sure, not all of them are fantastic but there are a few and thats why there's a voting system in place.

You should do some more research into the history of their deals before you comment else you look like a fool.

      • Ideally they would ask themselves this:
Is my price + postage less than the best price on staticice? If not, don't post it.

I'm starting to think the M in MWAVE stands for mediocre.

      • I don't know which model of surge protectors you mean, but to check it out the price it's very easy now a days!
        take a look at here:
        http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Belkin+surg…

I really doubt that you find a significant difference that could be called a bargain (don't forget to add shipping cost)

        • +1

It wasn't just a surge protector as zhenjie said, it was actually a 400VA UPS, which is a good deal. There is one place on staticice at the moment that has it at around that price, but I have never shopped with them before (or even heard of them), so I'd say that the mwave deal was a good one. I actually bought the 350VA version that came up a little while before that on mwave ($55-60ish + post, can't remember exactly). Considering Harvey Norman retail the 400VA for $175, I doubt you could haggle it down to even $75 (to account for postage). That said, there is nothing that I personally want that is going on sale in this "Thank You Sale".

        • Surge + UPS

  • Not worth it.

  • -1

I am forever having problems browsing their site much like browsing Bigpond's site. To hell with them.

  • HN did have $599 for PS3 so Im expecting MW to sell less than that otherwise I would have to agree that it's not a bargain.

    • They essentially have to sell it at less than $591 (for people live in Sydney) and $587 (for people live elsewhere) just to be the same to Harvey Norman due to shipping costs.

      • Ooooo $665.95 - so close! :/

          • @johnnychan: Um…they're $699 anyway with postage. If you're spending $700 on a console, I don't think you'll worry about a 5% discount (about $30).

This site is ozbargain.com not ozsmalldiscount.com

  • +2

The offers are fairly good deals. Not excellent but still good enough to warrant they be posted on here. A lot of you have negative feedback with catch of the day, which is fine. But I'm going to give mwave a chance on this. Hopefully they won't fall flat on their face.

  • Very poor and dissapointing. All these prices are easily achieveable with a bit of haggling or going to MSY etc. CRAP.

  • +1

I have to admit this isn't a great move by Mwave, especially after the whole COTD debacle. If Mwave said they were having a simple sale then everyone would have been perfectly fine with the prices. However, instead they hyped it up as a "Super Bargain" and failed to deliver what would be considered a "Super Bargain" or even a bargain at that. That all being said, I still don't know why these sites directly advertise to us here on OzBargain considering we are the least profitable bunch out there, always demanding things at cost price or less =]

  • Massive discount ($1.05) on the keyboard today!

PlayStation was advertised as $599 last week.
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/8478#comment-35731

    • Yeh I have voted negative on this "deal".
There are no good deals for ANYONE here.

  • "The Product Pricing Will Change At Their Respective Start Time" - meaning the prices will be dropped?

    • .

    • I think that means you can buy their stuff at any time at the normal price, but the special price will only kick in at the designed hour.

      • Ah, I see

  • Western Digital Caviar SE16, 640GB, 7200RPM, 16MB, SATAII, 3.5”, 320g per platter (WD6400AAKS) - $89.95

    $94 at MSY

Can a super bargain really mean a 4% discount??? :/

    • If they only knocked off $10- as the $12 shipping makes it more expensive.
$88 for Sydney and $92 for rest of Australia would be nice.
      And increase the quantity.
Now you have a "Thank You Sale"

  • Wish i saved my vote. Definitely would give a negative if I can change my vote now. Stores like COTD and MWave really mess up Ozbargain with their ads. It would be great if Ozbargain can ban them from posting ads.

    • I really think Scotty should relax the vote changing rule.

      • It has now been relaxed to 72 hours…

  • hmm, PS3 $666, evil, I believe BigW is selling that under $650, not to mention the Domayne deal $599 last weekend
