  • I never understood why people would need these and why they would need to be notified via an app? Can someone enlighten me? Are they growing crops in an airbnb?

Quick glance similar products that can tell temp and humidity for under $5 shipped on AliExpress but without app notifications.

A thermometer tells you the temperature in the room. A thermostat regulates the temperature. It helps control the temperature in the room by making small adjustments to heat or cool the room. If it gets too cold in the room, the thermostat adjusts and warms it up

In addition to showing me the temperature, with like, my eyeballs, these sensors tell my smart home to automatically turn on exhaust fans when the humidity is higher than ambient, or controls my air conditioners to cycle them on and off around the house to take advantage of my free excess solar to charge my thermal battery. As just a small example of the reasons why thermostats exist

I have a business of ferrets. Ferrets don't handle heat well and can die from it being too hot in a very short time.
Having devices like these that let me know when it's too hot for them is essential.

      • I love ferrets, and great use case.

    • My home suffers from high humidity at times, I use similar ZigBee ones like these, that notify me when humidity goes above a certain point and will actually automate a fan in bathroom or dehumidifier in lounge to be turned un until humidity returns to normal.

hey OP you should put 'Zigbee' in the title, ppl like zigbee

Boo almost an instant purchase until I saw the coin cell battery. Coin cell = no buy. Especially since it looks large enough to easily accommodate AAAs

  • Coin cell is sad, otherwise this would have been a really nice device.

  • I have one of these in my laundry. Has been going for about 6mths and has been super reliable.

I use it with home assistant and humidity derivative automation to turn on the fan when the dryer is going.

    Can recommend.
