Now less than half the price that this unit is currently selling for in Australian B&O stores.- $1500

Move BeoSound 8 from room to room or hang it on a wall. All you need is a power outlet, your music player of choice, and a desire for real sound quality. Secure your iPad, iPhone, or iPod firmly in the adjustable holder and prepare for a surprise. The sleek speaker design gives little clue about the fidelity and depth of the sound That Is about to come your way. The conical shape of the speakers on BeoSound 8 has two functions. Design-wise, the shapes 'disappear' to create an unobtrusive impression from most viewing angles and make placement easier. In terms of audio quality, they eliminate standing waves by Avoiding parallel surfaces. It may sound very technical, but you'll find That the proof is in the experience. Playing music from your own phone, computer, or media player gives you the advantage of a familiar navigation environment. In Additions, you can now download an app version of the sleek and stylish BeoPlayer for your docked iPad, iPhone, or iPod. Also you can adjust sound levels and skip tracks quickly and conveniently on BeoSound 8 itself. Music on a docked or USB linked device can be controlled via the dedicated round remote control or of course your existing Beo4 remote controls or Beo6 if You Already own other Bang & Olufsen equipment. VERY tempted

Amazing price, bit the bullet and finally bought one…I always admired the design of B & O, also very good resale value !

For comparison, price with 12 months Australian warranty from expansys :

    • impulse buy?

    • +14

      wow! save $11000!

    • +1

Yeah I saw that, costs another $70 for delivery from expansys though. Its an EU model too.

    • How can the resale value be good when its the old connector and not the new lightning connector?

      • +1

Because it is b&o. You are paying for style, not quality, and their style holds its value compared with any other electronic company.

        • +3

Thats true if the standards are held up for the next 10 years - but Crapple has already screwed everyone up by changing the connector and it wont work with future generations without the use of adapters that will screw up your aesthetics regardless of any B&O sticker on it.

        • +2

I agree. I wouldn't expect resale of it to hold up. Most B&O probably does have good resale value, because like certain other pieces of technology, audio gear generally ages well and doesn't become out of date. In this case however you are buying an iPod/iPhone dock with an already replaced dock connector. I wouldn't go in expecting to get most of the money back at resale given the people with the money to buy $700 iPod docks probably have the money to upgrade to lightning based Apple products.

I'm guessing people would be looking to sell in 12+ months, at which point lightning has been on the market for 18+ months and there have been at least two generations of Apples family in that time.

        • I can't edit my above post, but looking at the Amazon listings, the "8" model doesn't have airplay either, where the "A8" does. Would be handy, especially down the line. Line in with an airport express may be a work around for that however (although it's realistically an option for most speakers/docks).

    • I thought that every product of B & O do have 3 years international warranty?
Correct me if i am wrong..because i was planning to buy this one as well but still not sure and looking for the international warranty.

  • How does this compare against Bose SoundDock10. That comes with Bluetooth too. Yah Bose is more expensive than this but comes the full Aus support. But which one is better?

    • +2

It's all personal opinion. I loved this compared to the Bose. Louder, clearer, sexier.

      • +1

Thanks for sharing. Liked the sexier part better ;) Cheers!

  • I have had mine since I created the first bargain. It's pure awesome, clarity unbelievable. Loud? Oh yes!!!

It's not the first B&O product I bought, and won't be the last. They just released the new BeoPlay A9 wireless speaker. It's my next purchase, but $2690 need to save first.

Highly reccomend. Will not be disappointed.

    • Would you say still buy the BeoSound 8 at this price? Or save up for the BeoPlay?

      • I would buy this, the new one won't be cheaper for at least 2 years. Unless your keen on the airplay features. Same sounds, looks, etc.

  • +2

Please note OP. this is no longer sold at Australian stores, as it was cleared out at the $1266 price and then replaced with the Beoplay A8, wireless, and first dock to support the iPhone 5 connector.

    • & not to forget the iPad 4 as well.

  • You guys recommend the white or black? What do you think looks better?

    • +2

I bought the black. And you can get replacement covers, I have black, white, patterned, and orange covers. $70 for a set at the stores. :(

      • Dude. You are awesome

  • +1

    Thanks everyone. Bought one :")

    Estimated delivery: December 13 2012 - December 24 2,012

Just in time for Christmas hopefully.

  • +4

I just bought it… not sure if I'm going to use it because I already have Sonos around the house… true ozbargainer? or plain stupid?

    • +1

I sometimes do the same - The caveat of "going broke saving money"

    • Oh man, you messed up, but it's not a total loss: I'll buy it off you for $100!

      Win-win!

  • would have bought one cept already got a bose :(

  • Quite a few online electronic stores in Germany selling it at this price or significantly less (cheapest I've found is 469EUR) — haven't found one that ships to Australia and deducts VAT yet though! Another ~20% off would be sweet. :)

  • Holy …. these are so incredibly sexy, so tempted to bite the bullet and grab one

  • +4

What's so sexy about it? Because it looks like boobs? Though flat ones :p

  • Edited.

  • /// Anyone else get this? Looks like they won't post to Australian addresses ///
