what a fk joke - they used to be $9.95 - I would never sign up at this price
I'd never sign up to this woke company for any price

ThisWho hurt you?
@Bedgrub: Did you see what they did to Willow?
Join the plex community bro
Do tell..
@moo: Essentially hosting your own media server at your house, your very own Netflix but locally hosted.
Warning, its addictive as hell..Quite a few guides here
https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/Then when you get hooked - https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeServer/
Then the addiction starts https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/Personally I went down the Synology route, Build Plex.. liked when I saw then fully automated it through ARR stack
So it scans for new TV series whenever they are released and its hands off
Great for the kids/wifey@BanannaMan: Just did a quick setup of plex, thats cool as, thanks for sharing!
@DiscoJango: No worries mate! The hardware matters, the cheap little systems on here are great the N100 ones. They can transcode like 4x 4k streams at once or 8+ 1080p.
@BanannaMan: I feel like the folder structure and naming conventions will take up some time to setup.
Eg: band of brothers, only shows 1 episode, even tho every episode has the same file name structure
@DiscoJango: I'd highly recommend following this guide for folder structure, your future self will thank you trust me.
https://trash-guides.info/Hardlinks/How-to-setup-for/Native/
For renaming series or movies, sonarr (TV) and radarr (movies) do this automatically. If you want to rename your current stuff, use Filebot. You can still find the free version around.
@BanannaMan: ah nice, thank you. If those programs can automatically rename the files into the necessary structure, that will make things a lot easier!
yeah and this deal only applies to the 1080p plan. 4k plan is still full price.
Welp, back to the seven seas I guess.
I went to cancel my premium sub yesterday and was given this offer for the premium.
Note, I had only been subbed for a month so far.
$6.38 per month for 4K, not 1080p via Turkey.
Or get Real Debrid and pair it with Stremio.
Real Debrid… Where do you get it from and how much does it cost?
Is it worth it? Looks like $6-7 per month (include AUD-EUR conversion)
@aparasher: $26 for 6 months/$4.30 per month. And you collect points that can be converted to free 30 day subscriptions.
Nobody should be paying the per month fee. And yes, it's worth it.
@aparasher: I use it in JDownloader2 and it maxes out my 1gbps TPG connection, I get 112-120MB/s from my downloads it's crazy.
$4.50 a month for 6 months less than $27 all up
https://www.reddit.com/r/StremioAddons/comments/yi5jdw/ultim…Just happen to sign up today
Good? Not sure what above means by pairing up with streamo lol
@Italkdigital: Follow this guide https://guides.viren070.me/stremio
Real-Debrid has been up and relatively reliable for many years, I have no idea how they didn't get completely smashed by the copyright holders as I think they're based in France.
I have mixed feeling about stremio. The idea is awesome but the experience is meh…
First you need to have an app on your TV otherwise you need a dongle and so a second remote which is annoying.
They did finally release an app for webos (LG) a few months ago!!
The other issue is everytime you start watching something, there is a delay to load the movie. Just maybe 15-30sec but that's long enough to be noticeable and annoying.
If you watch a movie you don't care but if you watch short TV shows that's annoying. So up to you, best I have so far is NAS set up with sonarr, radar, plex… But it cost a bit of $$$ to buy.
The other issue is everytime you start watching something, there is a delay to load the movie. Just maybe 15-30sec but that's long enough to be noticeable and annoying.
That's because you don't have Real Debrid. It takes 3-5 seconds for me, even at 4K.
First you need to have an app on your TV otherwise you need a dongle and so a second remote which is annoying
App is on phone which you can cast to tv or on tv. I use the same tv remote with app on my tv.
I have real debrid and there is always a wait time w/ stremio, generally around 30 secs depending on quality. I'm on a nbn 100 plan. I don't know enough about how it works but any paid services always load immediately and still work when I'm downloading, unlike stremio
The benefits outweight the costs still, but I would LOVE a 3-5 sec load time
@scepticpsych: Paid services load instantly but usually at a lower, blurrier resolution then ramp up slowly.
Stremio/debrid is buffering the 4k (or whatever res) from the beginning. So you probably end up waiting the same amount of time a lot of times to get the full quality experience.
I have real debrid lol and a gigabit internet but still waiting 30sec.
Its been discussed a lot already, just sharing public knowledge. :)@ValouSydney: I've just tested an episode of Time Bandits episode 8 and took 8 seconds to start playing a 4K file. Maybe not quite 3-5 seconds but fine for my needs. Netflix has some buffering for a few seconds initially before an episode starts as well with the logo flashing for comparison.
It's a minor inconvenience at best compared to the alternative which is having multiple $ubscriptions in different apps or expensive NAS setups like you said.
Anyway you do what's best for your setup.
@Lucille Bluth: Yeah 👍
Keep it quiet 🤫, if everyone starts using it they'll shut it down or pay them to turn it off..
This is the real deal, not the op.
I don't understand how it has 100+ votes.
I've tried ShopBack's $1.05 discount as well, but 99.9% sure it wont work.
Let me get this straight: if only this paid, subscription service was free, you'd maybe deign to spend your hard-earned $0.00 on it. Gee, if only they allowed free trial churning, they might be as lucky as Netflix to have such a high value customer. /s
Thanks but no thanks… Disney needs to lift their game after that Acolyte garbage.
Not enough to renew it thank the Gods!
They've since changed tack, no doubt due to the public pile on: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr7r9djxj0do
Lawyers really are among the worst people on the planet.
Dick the Butcher might have some views about that too.
Not just that, but the cnutery with the guy who couldn’t sue because he signed up to Disney+
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna167310
And the new Snow White…
The list goes on why people should be boycotting Disney.
Outdated news.
How so, did they backtrack on their backtracking. That article is about the backtracking.
@cnut: My bad. Your comment suggested you weren't aware that they'd dropped their demands for arbitration as per the terms of agreement. Backtracking on that decision is hardly cnutery.
Go woke go broke
This!
hei that rhymes
friendly nitpicking here bro :-)
get woke go brokeGo woke go broke
What?
This is Disney we are talking about here? If it was going "woke" as you put it, its only going because of the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and nothing else.
And thats why every bit of media they are putting out is barely breaking out of the negative cashflow. Look at Deadpool, they dont go woke and bring in the $$$
Being 'woke' is to show basic empathy. Disney is an evil greedy mega-corporation. They are not 'woke'
I don't get why anyone thinks Disney is "woke", they literally just tried to use the arbitration clause in Disney Plus for a wrongful death suit. They are merely targeting a profitable market with content that might seem "woke" to some.
God forbid they make content for people other than white straight english-speaking as first language males 21-49
@Jack D Price: Probably having difficulty finding writers to dumb the content down adequately for that tone-deaf demographic.
@Jack D Price: Right, Disney has always been for kids. And all I see is adult blokes crying that all their content is not targetted at them. Especially movies and shows and characters made for girls. The men from last century who whose troubles were war and famine would be disturbed by the snowflakes their progeny became.
@tonka: Disney diversified long ago. Don't disagree with the rest of your comment though.
@dyziplen Among other things it's referring to movies such as the new revamped Snow White movie, which is based on the original 1937 movie which was based on a 19th century German fairy tale. Which is a story of a young girl with skin as white as snow. But in this movie it stars Rachael Zegler (of Columbian descent) and with skin that is not as white as snow. The 7 dwarves were replaced with several black people (and some white people) who weren't dwarves except for one. When people saw the characters that were in the movie a lot of people kicked up a stink that Disney was going WOKE by changing a german fairy tale from over 200 years ago into a WOKE pander fest. Disney then removed the multiracial dwarves who weren't dwarves. As this had annoyed real dwarf actors in the movie industry, as they can no longer get dwarf roles anymore. They then replaced the dwarves with animated dwarves which just made the movie look terrible. Matters were made worse when actor Rachel Zegler said in an interview that she did not like the original Snow White movie and that the prince was "a stalker" and that she may just "cut the prince's scenes from the movie". If you go to Youtube type in Snow White you'll see all these videos hating on Rachel Zegler and Disney. Apparently the Snow White movie trailer on Youtube is the most down voted movie trailer ever!!
@PukeyLuke: At least this version of Snow White actually has a reason to exist compared to some of their other remakes. Now, whether it’s bad or not is left up to the people.
@FujinShu: It’s been canceled/ withdrawn from distribution/ dumped already.
@beach bum: It’s still coming out next year afaik.
Any links you can point me to?@FujinShu: No I thought they dumped it,
Did they have to reshoot the whole thing?@beach bum: Nope, they just delayed it and replaced the dwarves with CGI. I am fine with Zegler’s thoughts on the original, as the remake seems to be a way to differentiate itself to the original, but the trailer does not want to commit to either being a faithful remake or a new spin on the original, and it just doesn’t look that great.
@PukeyLuke: But that doesn’t fit the narrative about men being the problem , how dare you!!
If only the dwarves were hard working transfairies of colour then that would be sticking it to the man.@PukeyLuke: Must be an enormous shock for some people to learn that there are people of different (to them) race, colour, culture etc in the world.
Great summary of Snow White's history here: https://www.literacyworldwide.org/blog/literacy-now/2013/10/…
This bit is especially funny - early slapstick by the brothers Grimm? :
In the 1812 edition of the story, the prince manages to get the coffin home without dropping it. He makes his servants carry it with him from room to room, so that he might gaze on his beloved. One of the servants eventually gets fed up having to lug this enormous glass box around, so he opens it and smacks the comatose girl. At which point, the chunk of apple flies from her throat, and she wakes up. Which is even more hilarious than dropping her. Most people know that Walt and his writers changed, and often sugar-coated, most of the tales they made famous - with the best reasons I expect.
@PukeyLuke: So as a child, did you visualize yourself as being the dude most obsessed with Snow White, in a place with 100K+ comments a month?
So you obviously didn't see the leaked video of the Disney executive saying they weren't allowed to hire white males? And that one of the black guys they were going to hire wasnt black enough so they didn't hire him? 😅
@Farticus: It’s Sarcasm, a joke.
I’m sorry that wasn’t clear enough for you all.
You need to consider who the top 3 shareholders of Disney are - Vanguard Group, Black Rock and State Street. Feel free to do some research in what great, upstanding, moral companies we have here…
And why despite successive content failures, Disney's CEO Bob Igor will never be replaced until he's ready. He's doing what the aforementioned, powerful shareholders want, which isn't a priority of being profitable. They have an agenda, Disney is a vehicle.. they're not alone.@FXx: Conspiracy theory tosh.
What's the agenda, apart from wealth accumulation? You've listed three highly diverse asset mgt/investment companies with even more diverse ownership. Together they hold <20% of the company. Disney has an elected board and an executive team like most other public companies.
@Igaf: Prioritising DEI is being proven time and time again as an approach that loses money in movies, not makes it. They couldn't be clearer as a company that this is their agenda, even with backlash they keep saying they'll just double down on it. Why is that?
Disney share price is down over 50% since March 2021, the Dow Jones is up 25%. How they going?
@FXx: Ever heard the phrase correlation isn't causation?
Took me 10 seconds to find this: https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinereid/2024/07/01/its-no-…You might want to check your search engine settings. Perhaps they're confined to Truth Social and Telegram.
Having trouble answering my question about "the agenda"?
@Igaf: That same news source also published this -
"In addition, Disney's focus on "wokeness," which includes promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in its content and workplace, has significantly impacted its operations and financial performance."There's your agenda…
Since you know all about correlation and causation I'd expect you to understand the result - failing content (box office bomb after bomb & reduced Disney+ viewers and subscribers), and poor attendance numbers in their parks.
Now, care to answer my question as to why Disney are hell bent on doubling down on their agenda? Now you've learned it isn't just about 'wealth accumulation' as you mistakenly pointed out and I corrected?
@FXx: Good job ignoring the majority of the analysis.
The premise is nonsense - no doubt they don't consider treating staff and consumers with respect as an "agenda" - unlike some white, right wing males with chips on their shoulders and fa life experience, or hypocritical American conservative extremists, for example.
If promoting diversity was such a huge negative how do you explain Vanguard, Black Rock and State Street's economic performance? V has $A114T under management, BR $A14T and SS $4.1T - a "surge" of 19% in 2023 according to their website. Using your laughable correlation=causation theory surely they should be struggling to attract investors?
Clearly plenty of people and institutions not only recognise the value of diversity but also the stupidity of ignoring huge sections of the populus. For your pocket's sake I hope your investment strategies aren't clouded by your obvious prejudices.
@Igaf: I love lots content with minorities staring and contributing to it, what the majority is rejecting is having content made prioritising DEI, having it pushed in our face as a focus. It's political, more importantly it consistently leads to bad content and box office bombs. I just want great content without the political BS and grandstanding of the creators / stars. Disney have some great franchises and amazing opportunities wasted.
You've gotten personal twice, claiming I'm prejudice and inferring I'm worse. Then trying to relate Disney's poor performance to that overall of Vanguard and the like? Really? You seriously need to do some investigation (not your 10 second Google searches this time please) into these companies and appreciate their strength and influence. As you've made clear, they have the size to do as they please, a HUGE part of the problem in society today.
I realise you have nowhere to go here, and you're angry, hence you resorting to insults. Conversation immaturity. Defaulting to the tag 'white, right wing males with chips on their shoulders' is a greater reflection of yourself, your ideology and personal insecurity.
Woke and hypocrisy are pretty much are hand in glove, particularly as practiced by corporations.
yes, much better to stay asleep and stain your sheets!
Maybe put when the offer ends in the description? My current subscription goes just past 28th Sep
I ain't ever signing a contract to Disney.
saw some article where some chick died in usa because they gave her some food but was told she was allergic to x,y,z.
the husband tried to sue disney but there was a clause saying if you sign up to disney plus then you can't sue them
anyhow it was something like that
That 'some chick' was only a 42 year old doctor from NYU.
@beach bum: So what, People with allergies should just not go out in public? Should create all their own food from first principles?
@OZKap: Maybe , if you’d like to survive the day.
@beach bum: If you're going to offer an opinion it would help if you acquainted yourself with the public facts (which obviously may not be the full story, hence the court case) before doing so.
This should help - just one of many reports which have circulated for weeks.
Restaurant chosen for its safety promises about food allergies
The couple, along with Piccolo's mother, went to dinner on the night of Oct. 5 at Raglan Road Irish Pub, a restaurant located within a shopping and dining complex called Disney Springs.Tangsuan was "highly allergic" to dairy and nuts, and they chose that particular restaurant in part because of its promises about accommodating patrons with food allergies, according to the lawsuit filed in a Florida circuit court.
The complaint details the family's repeated conversations with their waiter about Tangsuan's allergies. The family allegedly raised the issue upfront, inquired about the safety of specific menu items, had the server confirm with the chef that they could be made allergen-free and asked for confirmation "several more times" after that.
"When the waiter returned with [Tangsuan's] food, some of the items did not have allergen free flags in them and [Tangsuan] and [Piccolo] once again questioned the waiter who, once again, guaranteed the food being delivered to [Tangsuan] was allergen free," the lawsuit reads.
The three of them ate and then went their separate ways: Piccolo brought the leftovers to their room, while his wife and mother headed for the stores. After about 45 minutes, Tangsuan "began having severe difficulty breathing and collapsed to the floor."
She self-administered an epi-pen, and an observer called 911. The Piccolos, who had tried calling her multiple times, were eventually told she had been rushed to the hospital. They went to meet her and, after a period of waiting, were told that she had died.
"The medical examiner's investigation determined that [Tangsuan's] cause of death was as a result of anaphylaxis due to elevated levels of dairy and nut in her system," according to the lawsuit.
Piccolo filed suit in February against Raglan Road Irish Pub and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. (WDPR), accusing both companies of negligence for preparing Tangsuan's food improperly and for failing to train their employees to guarantee food was made allergen-free as requested.

I'm surprised at the low amount of compensation being sought.
@Igaf: Read it and stand by what I said , if you have deadly allergic reactions best not to put your life in some overworked and underpaid restaurant staff no matter what your told .
I understand she wanted a night out at a nice restaurant like everyone else and it’s promoted as allergen free .
but then brought food that wasn’t flagged as safe .
Huge red flag when your life is at stake .
When it comes down to it the only one that can be counted on to be your first and foremost primary caregiver is yourself , at least while you’re young and able .
Yes it’s news apparently , and the relatives may fight it and get a payout because of the optics, but personal responsibility first and foremost .
@beach bum: What are you taking about? She went to a restaurant and specifically asked them about allergens. Like dietary requirements, this is a completely reasonable request, that many establishments cater to in the 21st century, unless you're just the kind of (profanity) who thinks people with allergies shouldn't eat out. They assured her it was fine. When she did have a reaction, she also had (and used) an EpiPen. They literally did everything right and died. Don't be a tool.
@SydStrand: And now she’s dead , but did everything right , I suppose that should be some comfort then .
@beach bum: So what exactly is your point, other than being an edgelord? That people with known allergies shouldn't eat out? Should we all carry hip flasks and have personal food tasters in case of poison? Do you ever eat fast food?
It's not an unreasonable expectation to be able to enjoy an allergen-free meal in 2024, especially when restaurants are more than willing to cater to dietary requirements. What a tool.
@SydStrand: Ok bud , you win this round .
Hopefully the lawsuit can bring her back to life and everything will be fine.@beach bum: Agree with you mate. Being born with a disability sux, but just like a Hemophilic should avoid avoid sharp object a person with not just allergies, but life threatening ones should be certain or the food they consume or accept they're taking chances. That doesn't absolve the restaurant. It also doesn't mean we should accept a media or lawyer statement as the full story. No different to using a pedestrian crossing I reckon, always look, never trust a stranger with full responsibility for your life. and respect for not returning the name calling of the above poster.
@tonka: Thank you kind sir ,
and at least a tool is useful.I really wonder about those epi-pens , how long they last in the Florida heat , maybe left in a purse in the sun , nearing its expiration date .
I mean having an allergic reaction is one thing but for the back-up plan to fall down so badly must have actually sucked .
I suppose it’s true what they say .
An oz of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
@beach bum: Same thing applies to many road deaths. Your cynical advice is presumably to tell anyone seeking justice to suck it up and "take personal responsibility".
@beach bum: You'll have to explain the relevance, but to answer your question - the same length of time you've walked in the dead woman's shoes, or the shoes of anyone whose family situation has been irretrievably altered by negligence. I somehow doubt the USA courts will shift the blame onto the victim here even if they rule for Disney. I'll check back with you here when the rulings have been finalised, probably many months from now.
@beach bum: At the risk of repeating myself: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15700844/redir
My guess is that you've rarely if ever encountered a lawyer, nor taken any interest in publicly reported Australian legal proceedings or rulings, hence your wildly inaccurate conclusion(s).
That’s why they have the signs on people’s mailboxes. No Solicitors .
Who is the "they", and are "they" numerous in your neck of the woods?

Fyi, the $13.99 is only 1080p and 2 screens.
$17.99 required for 4 screens and 4k
