Went looking for a Nexus 7 today and managed to get a 32GB for $230 with no real hassle. Price on website $299.

This is the cheapest I have come across both here and on Whirlpool.

EB Games Doncaster wouldn't do $230, I showed them the receipts and the staff member even spoke to the guy in Pahran EB who sold them for $230. Said it was all a big mistake and would not match the $230 deal. Never going there again - for anything!!

  • Yeah EB games in Moonee Ponds were total arseholes about it

    • Yep, same at Doncaster!

    • Went to EB Games in Box Hill and they rang JB Hifi while I was there.. JB now had the tablet at $369 so wouldn't do it even though EB in Prahran had
    • Rang EB Games in Prahran where original purchase was made and overheard lady being told that head office had sent email saying not to do this deal again.
    • Officeworks wouldn't do it
    • Salesman at Harvey Norman laughed at me. Suggested a mistake was made on the price or it was an Internet scam

Ended up buying 2 units from a reputable ebay seller for $230 each. Have received and am very happy

    • You know I suspect a new tax law will come into place in Australia otherwise retail stores won't be able to compete with online overseas stores

Btw way to go god, I would have given up after 1st or 2nd rejection

      • The big aussie retailers probably wouldn't want that tax law to come in otherwise they might have to compete with smaller business locally. I think they'd rather compete with it on-line.

  • Tried at JB Logan Hyperdome.

Like many others I don't mind if the sales rep tells that the price match would be below their wholesale price as their reason for not being able to do it. But don't spit crap upper management has advised about it being an "appeasement" for an aggrieved customer.

    I don't like that

  • Commenting here so that I can find this post at a later date….trying to compile a list of heavily discounted tablets as research :)

I managed to buy a 32GB one from JB at Gepps Cross SA for $225. I showed a print out from good guys (who were price matching another JB store). He went and asked manager and came back 2 mins later and said it was below cost but they would do it. Whole transaction done in 5 mins. I couldn't believe my luck! (nor could my bf who had previously tried at 2 other JB's) We decided the guys that work there are ultra nerdy and not used to dealing with girls :)

    • ha..typical!

    • did your appearance have anything in common with your nick? If so, there might have been an "undies-down" discount

      • Hahaha. No. But we did note on the way to the store that I looked crap and wasn't doing myself any favours to try to get the $225 deal!! Must have just been my lucky day. It ended up being so easy that I should have asked for 2, but I didn't want to push my luck. :)

$230 at JB Hifi Thomastown VIC

  • Any successful NSW purchase?

  • I spoke to a rep at jb hifi branch in Brisbane cbd and they are are willing to drop it down to 260 at the most. Gonna go in tomorrow and see how t goes.It would appear that the general consensus is that the sale was a loss to the store.

  • Please take note of this " Manager at JB Hifi Store in Brisbane CBD on adelaide street claims that the op had a customer service issue at the store(Rockingham) which resulted in the purchase below cost price. He now claims that jbhifi HQ has issued a statement disallowing any more price match's based on the op's original receipt".

  • jbhifi always says scam when they cannot think of anything else lol they say it to me all the time if they cannot match or beat the price
