Think it's pretty much unanimous. "I got an absolute bargain on this $20,000 TV I just purchased". Said nobody. Ever.

      • +8

"What is a bargain" remains a philosophical question, but IMO anything available for less than the 'normal' (i.e. regularly available) price could fairly be considered a bargain. Importantly, the 'normal price' may be significantly less than RRP for products that are frequently on sale.

Seeing as this TV was available for $19,999 on release, I'd consider this the 'normal price', despite the $29,999 RRP. So this deal is not really a bargain, but it might be if the TV wasn't available for less than $29,999 until now. The fact that $19,999 is an extraordinary price for a TV doesn't enter into it.

        • I apologise for my insubordination Professor, I'm sorry I doubted your most outstanding qualifications. It will not happen again.

      • +2

Exactly, even at $20k they’re making a huge profit. This is worth $10k at best.

      • Of course some people would say that, just not in most friendship circles.

        • I don't think the ultra wealthy would bother to flex such a purchase. Probably got to be $5m property purchases minimum. 🤣

    • +1

      20k AUD or USD though?

  • -2

What kind of pleb uses this and not a Samsung micro led which blows OLEDs away :)

    • -4

Good point actually, imagine paying anything more than a few hundred bucks for a TCL.

      • Yeah bro (profanity) TVs that are good value

      • You bored bro?

        • Aren’t we all? Reading this far down a pointless thread?

      • Samsung are no better than TCL, good luck if anything ever went wrong with the thing, they are more likely to slash your screen when your not looking.

        • Except that they manufacture superior products.

          • @eccaz: Samsung TVs are ewaste and make it damn near impossible to get service for faulty products.

            • @Vinodra: Samsung make some of the best tv’s, monitors and screens in the business. TCL makes low end rubbish.

              • @eccaz: Last Samsung Display I purchased (Odyseey Neo G7) came with several manufacturing defects and it took nearly 2 months to return it after they discovered they didnt even have parts for it in Australia, never again.

Samsung have garbage tier quality assurance and have even worse customer service.

Wouldnt ever order a display from those clowns again.

Why would you pay a premium for an equally garbage product when LG exists and is vastly superior on every front compared to Samsung? If you're going to buy ewaste trash you may as well save a bit and go TCL.

                • @Vinodra: Don’t let one negative experience tarnish your opinion of something, the world isn’t perfect, be more forgiving.

                  • @eccaz: Their customer service is deliberatly designed to make people give up on their repair or refund by being as frustrating as possible, it is intentionally designed that way, consider yourself lucky you have never had to have your display repaired or replaced by them. It was also not just one negative experiance, it was 3 for the price of 1.

The display arrived in an usuable state.

Took over a month just for them to tell me they do not have replacement parts for this display in Australia and it would have to be returned.

It then took another month and dozens of phones calls to the worst customer service in the industry to organize a refund.

Thats 3 in one, nobody could convice me to give this company money for a display ever again.

It is also well documented that their customer service is like this, they consistently rank among the worst companies in terms of number of complaints to the ACCC every year.

                    • @Vinodra: Any company will likely be frustrating to deal with when something goes awry, you feel wronged and feel it’s unfair you have to waste your time, but it’s a process an unlucky few % of people have to go through with any product. From what I’ve read TCL are even worse to deal with then Samsung.

In any case, fact remains that Samsung do make some elite products, while TCL does not.

                  • @eccaz: be forgiving for samsung but not TCL?

                    • @V2L: Until TCL can handle motion, yes. A TV ought to be competent at performing its primary role - transmitting a moving image. My opinion of TCL isn’t marred by a single encounter, it has been every encounter.

                      • @eccaz: I own a Samsung OLED S95B and whilst the picture is amazing despite the one dead pixel the build quality and the remote leave a lot to be desired, that being said i just bought a LG C4 and everything just feels better quality. Not sure if Samsung still have those stupid solar remotes with hardly any buttons on their S95D's but the C4 remote is so much better imo. I've never been a LG fan but not gonna lie my next TV will most likely be another LG. I have a Large TCL aswell and it does an ok job for an Open air indoor/Outdoor TV but not a fan of their OS at all…its slow and unresponsive in comparison and picture quality is about as good as the money i paid for it. Of the 3 TCL, LG & Samsung LG's OS takes the cake and wins in every other category. I have a SONY aswell but its over 10 years old so not fair to match it against the other 3. Its still gong strong but the price of SONY's now can't be justified with TV's getting better every year and SONY are not immune from issues either.

    • I'm waiting for the picoled or if im patient omicronled.

People who spend 20k on TV use the built in sound?
Why even put that in their advertising material…

  • Damn.. isnt 4 65" TVs stacked against each other much cheaper and bigger? :D

  • -1

hmm should I get this or put the money as down payment for a property

    • -3

      In which country? Tuvalu?

  • I came here for the TV commentary

    Bought, thanks so much OP

  • +4

Imagine paying $20k for a TCL

    • +3

Or $20k for a TV period

      • +2

Do they sell tampons for TV's just in case this happens?

    • Your phone number would instantly be in high demand amongst scam call centres.

    • It’s not just the size which is why it’s expensive. It has 20,000 local dimming zones and 5000 nits of brightness. Show me another TV that even comes close

    • BINGO….

  • +2

Will be great stocking stuffer for the missus

    • +3

      How big are her stockings???

      • +2

        She's big boned

this is what a 95inch TV cost a few years ago and now it's barely over 5k. no point unless you have too much money to throw around. get an ALR screen and UST projector for a quarter of the price. this thing would be a pain to move around

    • +1

How often do you move your tv?

      • people move 13x on average in their lifetime, so pretty often I guess

  • -1

    Thanks bought 10

  • -3

    thx OP got 20

  • Worried about how the hard waste guys will take the TV away from kerbside in two years time when I upgrade to newer and better TV! Could potentially exceed the standard size limit for individual collections!

  • +2

I find it funny that Harvey Norman can deliver this behemoth in a wooden crate to my door for $49, but a couple kilo standard parcel will run nearly $30 through AusPost.

    • It’s almost as if Harvey Norman doesn’t need to make profit of the delivery

  • Thanks OP ordered two for reception at my office, pretty low cost when you consider alternate sized video walls.

  • -2

This will go well with my 115" dong

  • +1

Would fit in the back of mazda 3 ?

    • +19

Yes,Mazda3 can fit on the back of the TV

  • -1

I would go with Harvey Norman instead of Bing Lee on this one. On my last TV purchase from Bing Lee, their delivery drivers refused to take the TV upstairs, said was not possible and wanted to come back with 4 people to carry it up, with additional charges of course.
Then the Harvey Norman furniture delivery drivers that were delivering my lounge said no problem and carried it upstairs in less than 10 seconds with 2 people without any issue at all.

Some giant TVs are way heavier than a couch

    • +1

      It could be outsourced.

The courier didn't want the liability of potentially damage to the TV.

dropping a lounge suite is different from dropping a TV.

  • Too small !

    • +1

      Wife agrees.

  • Bought 4 to link up together. Now all I need is a huge auditorium and I can setup my own cinema.

  • Lucky I didn't buy one when they were 100 odd Gs.

  • If you're rich enough to spend this much on a TV, not sure why you wouldn't just go all out and get Micro LED with millions of dimming zones: https://www.samsung.com/au/the-wall/

    • Samsung tho

      • -4

        Samsung > TCL

    • +2

Yeah bro instead of paying 20k pay 10x it!

      • If money doesn't matter, who cares lol

        • -3

Because it's an inferior product anyway lol

    • +2

cause they cost 200k, this is 10% of the price of the samsung wall…

    • Because they didnt honor the oled deal.

    • Only 1600 nits brightness versus 5000 for the TCL

      • Don't forget infinity:1 vs 7000:1 native contrast.

  • +2

    $1k cashback is cray

    • Almost covers the interest on a 2nd mortgage taken out to buy this monster!

  • +1

    Anything bigger available?

  • +1

This or the Ffalcon 55"? 🤔

    • +2

      4 x 55" ffalcon's would make 110". Bargain!!

  • +14

its crazy cause my staff price on this is sub $7K, such a mark up

    • +1

Yeah that's what I was thinking. You'd get a better deal walking into JB or TGG and asking for a discount.

    • Whaaaat? Is that the Bing Lee staff price?

  • +3

    Energy Rating: 2.0 Star

Power Consumption (kWh per year): 2652

    That's a lot power consumption!
    2652kWh x $0.30kWh =$795.60

    • +1

Yes, but you won't need additional heating through winter

    • +1

That’s at max brightness though that would singe your eyeballs

  • +2

Perfect size TV for Man City fans in preparation to watch their team in Division 2 next year.

  • Thanks OP bought 4

  • Dammit, just got the 98

  • Finding my recently bought TCL 85in to be getting rather smallish now. Mmmmmmmm……

      • once you go big you can never go back, there's only bigger

        So true. Well said.

  • Thanks OP, purchased 1 for each wall in my house.

    • Now you don't need a plaster guy to fill the holes in your walls, probably saved a few bucks too!

  • -1
