$19 eBay Plus 1-Year Membership Renewal for Lapsed Members @ eBay Australia

4750

Not the greatest offer on earth, but the drought is finally over. Does NOT appear to be targeted, ignore the tag. Might be good for new members, I don't know, mod made it for renewal only, might have inside information.

I've been trying to renew my lapsed membership by clicking on "free trial" for ages and hoping an offer would appear.

I have not received any email, or any banner, but when I went to free trial it finally offered me $19 for a year.

Please give it a try and advise in the comments how you go.

      • Any advantage in selling stuff through eBay over marketplace or Gumtree?

        • +1

eBay has protection for buyers and seller (for whatever it's worth). Makes some medium value transactions more palatable for shipping.

Gumtree is kind of dead. FB only really works for cash on pickup.

    • Ok then might as well wait. This is just a bait

  • Thank you OP

  • +1

this post reminded me to cancel mine before auto renewal, thanks

  • Just received my $30 retention credit, working out similarly.

    • +5

Be mindful that the credit is only for 30 days. I didn't notice this and had my credit expired. Went to chat with them and got refused of reissuing the credit.

      • Yeah I've been burned on the exact same thing, but with $50CR.

        Ever since then, eff eBay!

      • and a minimum of $50 spend to be valid

  • Work for me $19
    No target email

  • Got it. Thank you!

  • +3

Doesn't work for me. Price shown is $49. I think my eBay plus has lapsed last year in Oct.

  • +2

Thanks OP, I was lapsed as of November 2024, was not missing it at all, but at $19 I'll spin the wheel again.

Immediately cancelled it too so they don't sting me for another $49 next January (they did try to offer me a $30 voucher if I didn't cancel, but the voucher would only be given to me after 21 January 2026! What a joke.)

    • +1

Well it's almost the same as paying $19 in 2026 for another year, since the regular price is $49.

I'm not even sure eBay plus is worth $19 anymore tbh.

      • +3

not really, given eBay's terrible track record of actually delivering those $30 vouchers, and the arbitrary restrictions they place on them when they do. The promise of a $30 voucher in 12 months time is not worth $30 in cash!

  • +8

Main reason I had eBay Plus was for the pretty good Black Friday deals. After last year and the complete lack of half decent Black Friday deals eBay offered, I won't be renewing - even at $19.

  • +3

Aren't' you literally wasting money by subscribing to ebay plus? Ebay is dead AF

    • +2

I was getting good deals on 3D printing filament which made it worth it, but haven't seen one for a while now.

I guess everyone uses Amazon for new and Facebook marketplace for used now, don't see where eBay fits in anymore. But it's still good for filament.

      • +1

eBay is good for supplies, materials, refurbished electronics and packed furniture, AliEx for small, light things and Chinese electronics, Amazon for western brands, and, yes, Facebook marketplace for used pickup stuff.

    • You're doing it wrong if you can't find good savings on eBay smh

  • I meant to cancel mine and it just auto-renewed, damnit

    • +1

contact them and they will refund it, I did nearly a month after auto renewal. Used chat

      • Thanks, I'll do that

  • Thanks OP. Worked for me.

  • +6

I joined on the $10 deal here (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/876700) back in November 2024 and in the 3 months since haven't actually made any purchases on eBay. There just haven't been any compelling deals on eBay plus……

    • It's a bit like that these days sadly but generally a few times a year a deal will pop up that makes it worthwhile in my use case like final value fees being waived, or an extra juicy discount when buying 3D Printer Filament for example and it ends up paying for itself quite easily and then some.

Such deals are definitely becoming less frequent though

    • Yeah it's expected. Unless you can find stuff via other channels. Also plus didn't give much advantage over non plus

  • Dooh just being charged $49 :(

  • Worked for me thanks OP! I cancelled earlier this year, for some reason I got the $19 offer.

    • I cancelled earlier this year

But we're only 22 days into the year?!

  • +2

Have an active eBay plus account; got a $30 voucher offer if I stay on when trying to cancel.

    • likewise, for an October expiry

  • +1

Got the $19 offer - now daddy just needs a fvf deal :D

  • +2

Worked for me at $19. Decided not to attempt to cancel for $30 voucher given seems to only be good if it autorenewals in 2026

    • I got the same thing

  • Worked for me $19. Mine was expired for 3 months, was waiting for a deal.

  • when i click try it free" it just refreshes the page ..

  • +15

I'm kinda 50-50 on whether it's actually worth it still at $19.

  • Pays not to tick the auto-renew box

  • +2

Got the option to renew at $19. Not sure I really want to so might hodl

  • Haven't bought or sold anything on eBay, this is useless for me

  • nice ty

  • Thanks OP. Can someone please advise at what stage it should show $19 (as mine shows $49 right through to just before adding payment details). Hesitant to add PayPal in case it then charges me $49 right away. Should it change to $19 after adding PayPal? Many thanks!

    • It showed $19 right away in my case.

    • +3

Mine said $49 at the landing page, but clicking on the 'Pay now and sign up' link made the popup show $19.

      Screenshot

      • Thanks guys. Appreciate the responses. No luck for me unfortunately. Ah well 🤗

        • Maybe TCB could do something as a deal instead…?

To be honest I'd trust you to have a good deal, more than eBay's very flaky vouchers and the like

  • +1

Thanks for sharing, I was going to buy the $4.99 monthly to save a extra $20 on top of the regular eBay coupon on the infiray p2 cam but this will work out better in the long term as my ebay plus lapsed in late October

  • +1

work for me. $19 .Previous plan expired 2months ago.

  • +3

For lapsed peeps who can't get it to work, I googled "ebay plus sign up now" and there's a sub link on the Google results that says "sign up now" - that instantly offered it to me for $19

(I did turn on desktop mode on my phone browser when I did this)

  • Legend - worked for me as well. Thanks OP!

  • Only 30 days free here.

  • +1

Clicking on free trial offered $19 for a year to me as well, thanks! Also got offered a $30 digital voucher when I went to insta-cancel the sub for next Jan as well

    • How soon can ya use that (then really cancel)?
You only get that if you keep your membership, up to you if you want to spend $49 for a $30 voucher.

  • I'm a lapsed member, didn't say anything but when I clicked through it was $19. Thanks!

  • not going to renew but it worked for me, my membership ended sometime last yr.

  • Worked for me. Cancelled last December. Just clicked on free trial and was offered monthly or yearly at $19 or $49. Chose $19 of course.

  • Does the 25-5 monthly voucher still exist?

  • +1

definitely targeted, no matter what I do, always shows $49 for me.

  • I must also be one of the few where it shows $49 no matter what I do.

  • +4

    ebay plus is 💩

    • Nothing like what it used to be.

  • Thanks, OP!
I went here and clicked the Start Free Trial button, got $19/yr.

Facebook marketplace is the new place to buy and sell now. EBay is old news and gumtree is dead as a doornail.

    • eBay is good for supplies, materials, refurbished goods and also packed furniture (beds, mattresses, etc). Gumtree still good for cars, heavy equipment, etc. Facebook marketplace is good for used consumer goods to pick up nearby, but not for 2nd hand stores that can post anywhere in the country, for instance.

    • +2

Facebook is full of flakes and scammers.

  • Thanks, OP! I don't have an eBay account nor do I want one.

  • +2

Ebay Plus is pretty average these days. No more fee free items when selling, you used to get 5 a month. No real benefit for sellers at all. The $5 monthly coupon now has a $25 min spend. Never any sitewide discounts and what discount codes there are never work on any items you want.

    • The $50 of value for a year is definitely a stretch, they used to have heaps of good discounts for buyers but the last few months I did have my membership was very meh

      • Yeah even just before like 6 months or so, the discounts for the year weren't bad.

I haven't seen anything decent lately at all.

  • Clicked on "try it free" (as i cancelled mine 1 year ago) and says $49 annual. i select payment method(paypal) and u have stopped there.

Yeah this is targeted. I think

    • What if you try this link, mine said $49 to start with but changes to $19. Probably is targeted though.

      • Doesn't work on my account where plus was cancelled in Nov 2022, giving $49 for me.

From the looks of it, probably better I just pay for a one-off monthly eBay plus in the rare occasion there's a great deal requiring plus ..

        • true, does it change to $19 if you click through it?
Could wait for a $10 deal to join otherwise.

      • +1

        Thanks G-rig, worked! Cheers.

  • +1

Shows as $19 for me. My membership lapsed last month in Dec 2024. Thanks OP.

  • Lapsed since 2021. Refuses me a free trial, wants $49 no matter how far into the process I go.

  • Thanks OP, renewed my lapsed membership, worked.

  • Better than any deal that offers "vouchers".

  • Got it, cancelled it, got the $30 voucher to stay on next year. Let's see what happens next month 😉

    • So spend $19, cancel to get $30? Then cancel again before $49 charged? Funny they'd give you the $30 already a year out.

I may not bother but still got a $10 voucher for enabling communications, can't use without eBay plus. Would owe me $9 to join again I guess.

no need really with Amazon and AliExpress, but you can still use the yearly codes anyway.

      • +1

Depends what you're buying… eBay still best for heavy supplies and materials (I buy 50kg sacks of Epsom salts, for instance), for refurbished electronics and packed furniture (beds, mattresses, etc). AliEx is good for small, light stuff and Chinese electronics, but anything heavier, shipping kills it. And Amazon only for western (and some Chinese) consumer goods, not bulk materials (I find). Even supplements, not once have I found it cheaper on Amazon than on iHerb.

      • still got a $10 voucher for enabling communications

        Where's that?

    • +2

$30 voucher is for next renewal and will be paid when you pay the $49 membership first. Unless my understanding is incorrect.

      • I think you're correct. Good to lock in the offer for next year too, though. Can still cancel before then anyway.

        • +1

yeah that sounds ok. could always cancel again (or block the payment)

          • +1

@G-Shock: I used a disposable card from Zip. Always! 😉

            • +1

@wisdomtooth: yeah i may try using the Revolut, hardly ever works with most vendors should really get rid of it (and get wise at least)

              • @G-Shock: Have both? I do. I prefer Zip bc I don't have to load it up, and be left with the balance there if the purchase doesn't go through. I also prefer Revolut to Wise for the crypto. And I can get Wise through Up too. But I do use it for overseas transfers.

                • +1

@wisdomtooth: That sounds good. I dont have a zip account but Revolut disposable worked this time.
Yeah leftover balance is crap but it isn't afterpay at least. Can just use at woolies or something.

Haven't looking into the crypo side of it, can you transfer money from Binance without fees? Hard getting your cash back out these days.

                  • @G-Shock: Yeah, afterpay never caught on for me… I don't need the financing, just payment services.

can you transfer money from Binance without fees?

Dunno, I don't have it. I opened a Coinbase account to place bets on polymarket. On Revolut, I just buy and hold.

                    • +1

@wisdomtooth: yeah nevermind all that. I find AP ok, it's more of a convenience thing and some deals on ebay require it.
Wouldn't bother with a physical card for any of them.

  • Yep! Nice work

  • Thanks OP. Was waiting for this! Cancelled my membership last November. Showed up as $19 per year once I clicked into eBay plus membership

  • thanks worked for me , cancelled in Nov i think and was waiting for a discounted deal like this to come around :)

  • +1

Thanks op. I went on a month sub to get a good saving on a dishwasher. Hopefully this will still be available when that runs out next week

    • Yep in the same situation. Signed up for a month for the free shipping labels.
