Darn it! Paid $228 for mine and still haven't opened it. Great price!

    •

Dammit! I paid the same for the super slim 12GB a month ago from JB :(

      •

why wouldn't you want a superslim?

        • +2 votes

The super slim seems cheeply made to me. I hate the DVD/BLU RAY tray input instead of the slot load from the slim. Plus the super slim was 12GB internal with no external HDD. This slim is 160GB. Lastly I paid 228 for the super slim this one is 168.

        • +1 vote

Oh, I had no idea, I just had a couple of videos explaining the new tray input, I kinda like it, it reminds me of the Psone consoles

  •

Good price, lots of stock on the east side of Melbourne

    •

Not any more :( too slow

  •

great price, but there is no stock where i live :(

  •

Awesome price! Shame I don't need another one.

  •

Good find. What firmware revision is likely to be in these?

Not the one you are after. ;)

Just called up Top Ryde and the only one they are selling is the machine currently on display - being used for months.

    •

I thought it was illegal to sell used goods in this country without explicitly stating it.

      • +13 votes

        it is…. and they have… (???)

  •

    Crazy price!!!

  •

It is in stock at my local store, might go up and get it.
Should I go for a super slim instead?

    • +1 vote

Most stores are closed today - you might want to check it's open first (on the website).

      • +1 vote

So I rode up there and yeah… They were closed.

  •

Thanks, just ordered two. Hopefully I can get it.

    •

      do you really need two?

      • +2 votes

There was 4 available and I only grabbed for my 2 mates so they can join me for a bit of COD at night. Ease up mate - not like I'm Brogan, lol.

        • +11 votes

          Bogan Broden?

    •

      which store?

      •

St Ives - the other two have since been sold, unfortunately.

        •

Jerk, St Ives is my closest store haha.

  •

    Nothing on the Gold Coast

  •

If only I needed one, this is a bargain!

  •

Are the stores open today? My local are not picking up.

Hmmm I got this deal on Boxing Day for the 320gb if anyone is looking for one of those -

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/ps3-320gb-console-sony-playtv...

They were clearing them out but wouldn't lower the price any more - but I managed to swap the game for a second controller, so I was happy.

    This is awesome though.

Ps3 is the best. Bought mine 3 yrs ago for 500$ And was worth it then. 168$ is a great price

    •

Dont know i got an xbox and a quite a few kinect games too, i love it. let see how this goes.

  •

argh can't manage to find any in Perth :(

    •

yer i checked and there are none

  • +2 votes

Ergh, I check this site every 30-60 mins like an OCD no hoper and still missed the deal. FML x 2.

    • +1 vote

haha.. dont worry, i too miss deals sometimes and wandered how come i missed it as i check ozbargain everynow and then.. this time i luckily scored

      •

I won't be saying that until I have a brand new one in my hands. This is Dick Smith we're talking about after all!

        • +1 vote

Chances are your store was out of stock before this deal was posted.

      •

Yep, hopefully I'm the early bird with the worm next time. Enjoy the new toy.

    •

Unless it is for a present, you should be able to grab a second hand one with a bunch of games and 2 controllers for under $240. Just make sure it's fairly new with a receipt :) That's what I did.

  •

  •

Ah man this would have been perfect. Was going to get one for a mate for his b-day tomorrow but all my stores around me have no stock.

$168 is a great price, especially considering this is the Slim version and not the newer super slim. I paid $248 for it from Big W in June this year and it was well worth it to get this model with the extra space. People paying way more for the 12GB Super Slim are getting ripped off.

  •

still available in Albury (according to the website)

  •

bought 2 from livingston dicksmith (perth). 2 or 3 left i think

    •

      just sold out in livingston

  • +1 vote

I shall be down there before they open!

Edit, both stores went from low stock to out of stock
    HOW!?!?

    •

My worst fears.. have been realised.

      • +1 vote

        THEY WERE CLOSED TOO!

    •

Probably snapped up by staff somehow.

      •

I want that PS3, I sent them a letter, I'm getting someone who's going to the shops tomorrow to check for stock and attempting to price match.

        Wish me luck :D

        • +1 vote

The person who went down for me was first in, sold out (staff must have grabbed them) was told they had all 5 there yesterday but somehow the website went from Instock -> Low Stock -> Out of Stock while they were closed :@. Kogan don't price match, Big W were amazed, but wouldn't price match.

        •

BigW will price match, as long as you show them the proof

        •

@JakieJake…Why didn't you use click & collect while it was still instock yesterday?

  •

No stock at any of the stores around me. :(

  •

Is it possible to put one on hold via click and collect even though there is no stock?
    Thanks

    • +1 vote

i did that with livingston (perth) however garden city (perth) did not do it

  • +1 vote

This is a amazing deal because it is the older better version!

    •

      Why is that?

      • +2 votes

Glossy very cheap looking cover. Terrible top loading drive, still slow at loading blurays and the most unbelievable of all - no wireless N still.

        • -3 votes

          But thats just your opinion.
As a matter of fact, the newer super slim, supports newer hdmi connections then the older two models, giving it a better picture.
So although the outside might be a bit more cheap, its in fact a superior product.
Not to mention the HDD size

        • +5 votes

As a matter of fact, the newer super slim, supports newer hdmi connections then the older two models, giving it a better picture.

Yea, good luck telling the difference.

        • +9 votes

newer hdmi connections? i bet you, you use monster cables from harvey norman…

        • +1 vote

I agree with you on this. The top load is awful. I use the PS3 to play blurays and the slot load is much better than what the super slim has. The new one looks really cheap compared to the slim I think.

  •

I am in Melbounre easter suburbs but ALL the stores around me are out of stock, however i do not see the option to click and collect with ANY store.

    •

The only option was click & collect, but they've now all been ordered which is why you can't see them anymore.

  •

    Is it the latest one?

    •

No. Super slim is the latest 'version'.

  •

Seems like no stock in Sydney area?

  •

Anyone know how long it will take for re stock?

    •

Forever, it was clearance I'm pretty sure.

    •

It won't be re-stocked, it's been replaced hence why we are clearing it out.

All these current deals are due to a clearance on older stock to make way for new stuff for the new year.

I personally hope a majority of you do get a decent deal, and hope it's not a repeat of last year.

      •

        a question

i have ordered one for pickup and have the mail confirmation

can i rock up to St. Ives tomorrow and pick one up?

i dont wanna get there and they tell me they've got nothing on hand

        • +1 vote

If Order Status = "Your order is being processed." and/or Status = "In Progress" you'll be wasting your time. You need to wait for confirmation of the processing. As per the original email you get - "We will send you a text to confirm when your order is ready for collection."

        •

It all depends on where you're standing in the Click and Collect line, and if the shop was closed today, you'd have to wait until tomorrow morning so Staff can get around to dealing with the C&C orders, and if you're lucky you were one of the first to order one.

        •

Click and Collect is a waste of time with Dick Smith. Ive never had a successful pickup. Every time I either get there and there suddenly is no stock or they ring me and say there is no stock. Of course in the mean time its out everywhere else.

        •

          Click & Collect reservation # 130xxxxxxxx

          Hi,

Your Click & Collect reservation request has been sent to your local store.

We will send you a text to confirm when your order is ready for collection.

If you don't receive a text from us within 2 business hours please contact the store on the phone number below.

          hmmmm

        •

          @Grimezy
So, even if you successfully reserved one via Click and Collect, it doesn't mean one has actually been put aside for you.. ie it's still going to rely on luck whether you do in fact get one?? If that's the case, it seems like a rather pointless system.

        •

I've done click and collect 3 times and 2 out of 3 times they put aside the wrong item, either because the system is screwed up or incompetent employees.

        •

well just underneath it clearly says it's a $168 PS3

i dunno how they can screw that up unless they didnt have much stock at the start anyway

it sounds like we are down a path where many of us will end up disappointed

        •

Once you do the Click and Collect online, it will go to that stores computers, it's just a matter of staff picking the items, and confirming that they are on hold for you.

Usually if there's something wrong with the order you'd get a call from the store to let you know.

        •

So means if i did a clickand collect then do i need to Q up in the morning infront of the store?

        •

So do they collect the stock first thing in the morning before the store opens? Or is there a change people lining up first thing in the morning may reach the stock before the staff pull it off the shelves?

        •

better than clicking and collecting a couple of items and finding out they havent been bothering to do it and just giving the stock on a first come basis. Personally, I wont set foot in bourke st dick smith in melbourne unless tempted with a sweet deal

  • +1 vote

As a bonus it's the 2nd generation ps3 and not the cheap looking 3rd generation with 24gb drive and noisier laser.

  •

And low on stock as usual, its either out of stock or nothing when you call the store.

Sick of dealing with DSE with their deals, they always have either no stock or staff picking up the goods before everyone else

    •

Many places will have had ps3s reserved as the deal was posted over 3.5 hours ago. Can't speak for every area obviously but soon after it was posted there were 4 stores near me showing as in stock.

  • +5 votes

Yayyy!!! Finally got one from DS Top Ryde..Called store at 5.45pm..he said that they have only one last stock and it's a display stock ..for this price I thought it wouldn't matter as it will come with full warranty anyway ..so rushed to store..the store was going to close in next 10 mins..so had to rush really quick :)..Finally he took out the box and it turned out to be a fresh brand new stock ..the box was never opened ..Yipee..immediately paid with the DS gift card that I purchased recently from Ebay on 10% off ..so final price 168 -10% = $151.2

Was busy playing it with upgrading firmware, configuring etc ..so got little delayed in replying here..

Thanks @darthhasbro for this Awesome deal
    OZB Rocks :)

    •

if it's display stock is it just out of the box? or it's actually played with? I've got a display one set aside to grab in the morning but I'm not sure if it's been played with.

      •

I guess if it's a display there is a good chance that it's been played with as well.. Just check the seal if it has ever been broken ..that should give you an idea if its used before or not..Good Luck

        •

Thanks, it had been played with unfortunately. Going for the 320gb model now

  •

Going to try my luck tomorrow morning but have work until 5.30.

  •

Couldn't you just call up another store and ask them to price match this deal? I think that should work for people who have missed out
