    • They won't price match if it's out of stock.

      • But you can still try. I mean they would have to do a check on every dick smiths store to see tha available stock, which seems highly unlikely. So they might just go ahead and price match. I think if you are desperate you should give it a go.

  • Maan, I always miss out on the ps3 deals.

  • Tried Armadale in WA where they said they had stock but were already out and then went to Booragoon (Garden City) who had 1 left but that was also gone when I got there. Not looking good for WA now, great deal!

    • i rang garden city (booragoon) and was told they had 1 in stock. 10 minutes later went to store and they said they sold it an hour ago, so stupid.

      • Yep, that's pretty frustrating.

  • +2

OzBargain is really getting Dick'ed today!

    • +2

Lol as their staff shirts state "Clever Dick" :)

  • Basically out of stock everywhere in Sydney.

  • So all Perth WA stores sold out? :( Would any majors price match something like this?

    • Livingston has sold the 160 gb version of the slim. They still have the higher memory slim models for really cheap. I think 250gb was for 225, double check though I could be wrong

      • +3

its the 320GB Version for $228, which is the same saving just on the higher end model.

        • Erina store (NSW) still in the green - this deal is still on, with more stores showing stock than the 160GB version had.

  • Just received confirmation that my PS3 is ready for collection, 1 hour before the store even opens :D

    • Picked up mine this morning, thanks DSE.

  • +1

Arndale in SA has 1 left. they open at 9am but there is someone there now if you ring.

  • Just called and reserved the last one at my local Victorian store, victtttory! :D

  • Called the 'click and order' local store just then… but the store personnel said "your order didn't come through, and we've run out of the 160GB PS3"….. Got D'ked big time!!!… now trying the online sales team… sigh….

    • How did you go?

If you're persistent and present a good case they will do it if they can source 1 for you.

This happened to me with the $199 xbox deal last June, I tried to purchase while the deal was still available but had technical errors with their site, in the end they honoured the deal, the next day, after it had finished - from me calling the online sales team. GL

      • +1

Hi.. basically called up the online sales team, who then hand-balled me onto their customer liaison representative. I've posted some update below, but basically no news back from him today. Thanks for your advise though, Will keep on trying hassling them. No retreat / No surrender!!!! hahah.

  • That's a good find but unfortunately all sold out around Sydney ;-(

  • +7

For those in NSW who has missed the deal. DS also have 320GB version for $228 (click and collect) below:
    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/YG0255/ps3-slimline-320gb-co…
Still pretty good deal in my opinion.

    • Thanks bluray, I couldn't find a 160gig but was lucky enough to score a 320GB, after seeing your post.

    • +1

Thanks, now I brought one haha
She called it an 'display one that had been in a cabinet and not used', so I managed to get her to chuck in 'Little Big Planet 2' which was on sale for $10 for free. I also got my friend to come round and used his Woolworths staff card for an extra 5% off.

All in all it was $216.60, I get home, open it up, the power cable was re-wrapped (if it was just in the cabinet not used why would they need the cable?) and a mark on the controller. I turned it on and it had been setup and had an account on it, but there was 2 (User-1 or something and sabin) must have been owned by someone? It had a bit of trouble turning on at first too, the controller was out of charge and then when I checked for a disk in there out pops the Dick Smith demo DVD. I feel as if it was pre-owned, taken back and then used as a display one. So much for 'not used'.

Not worth the free $10 game for it being pre-owned.

I left the LBP game in the wrapping and borrowed Saints Row 2 and Juiced 2 off a friend, didn't really like it. I'll take it back tomorrow. If anyone in Bribie Island wants it, Dick Smith should have it back tomorrow.

      • Haha nice. THey sold you one of my click to collects. I reserved two and they called me this morning saying I could only get one………

        • A local OzBargainer!!
Was one a display? Were they the 320GB's?

  • +1

Damn, called Hurstville and someone put the only one on hold within 3 minutes of opening! Lucky bugger :P

  • +1

Dick Smith is a joke. I managed to reserve one yesterday via Click and Collect, but when I called the store this morning they gave me some bullsh*t line about not having enough stock to fill my order. So much for reserving one for me! I wouldn't be surprised if the staff that work there bought them before anyone else could.
Has this happened to anyone else? I plan to write a complaint email to Dick Smiths.

    • Happened to me too. About to call up the customer liason officer as well. The St Ives manager told me that 7 other customers are in the same boat as me, but that they were and I quote 'pretty happy' about it because they understood that there was a mistake. What a load of crock. Who would be happy about their time being wasted?

      • Did they tell you they had any 320gig models in stock?

    • I had a very similar situation. The only difference here is that the store told me "they didn't receive the order statement". So I rang up the customer liaison officer and he said he'll follow up with the shop. While I dont like my chances here, but I'm hoping to Dick'em back as much as possible!!

      • Called Eastland DSE this morning, they said havent received any order statement, and sold out this morning (inside transaction maybe), what a BS, I will contact the liaison officer as well even it is useless.

        • +2

@couger : Same local shop for me. I did end up calling their liaison officer and he said he'll look into it. I'll update accordingly when I hear back from him. In the meantime, DSE's liaison's number is 02 9642 9587. Good luck.

        • Update: Rang up the Liaison officer again and he's following up with another online department Dicks. He told me unlikely to hear anything back till tomorrow (but me thinks .. when all of the PS3 and PS4 are sold out :))

        • +1

Their Liason person is useless. He commiserates with you then either doesn't call back or gives you some bs excuse.

      • +1

        Update 2:

Tried to call the Liaison number direct. Went into voicemail each time.

Call up the call-center again, the guy said nothing he can do, he transfer me back to the liaison.

Funny enough, liaison pick up my call. He said he's still awaiting response from the online tech support team to see what happened. Really funny that he tried the 1. "its only click and collect, not 100% obtainable" and 2. No stock. I shot him down both times saying when I check was 'available' and issue wasn't with 'click & collect', was due to the fact that I received an email saying request was sent to the shop but the shop didn't receive it. All he could say after that was "All i can do is wait for the online support to see what happens, and call you back next week".

I am normally a reasonable person, but I dont like being dick'ed like this. He said he'll call me back on Monday…. Looks like i'll have to hunt the liaison for on Monday again then :)…

For anyone else who are in the same boat like me, I encourage you to do the same. If not, then dont worry, i'll keep on fighting and let u know that outcome :) Stay tuned!

        • Good Luck To You, Hope You Will Win And Get The Product

  • +1

Well my local store just rang me and said they didn't have it so I'm stuffed, DSE suck

    • My wife used to work for DSE and their inventory system is very accurate, so I rang back them back and put the hard word on them and suddenly they found it!
Suggest others do the same, don't get angry, just state facts, if they claim its display it's not right, DSE don't leave display models in inventory, and their inventory system is VERY accurate, if it was there for click and collect yesterday 99% chance it was there

      Good luck!

      • I think that's true, I bought last WD Live 2TB from moonee pond DSE last month, seconds after that, it changed from "low stock" to "out of stock", so I think they have a accurate inventory system unlike HN.

        • ditto ..after i bought the last one from DSE Top Ryde yesterday .the status changed from "low stock" to "out of stock"

      • Not exactly true, the inventory system is usually accurate but it does also include display and ex-repair and returned stock as well

  • just called Hornsby, they said the only stock anywhere relatively close by is Armidale with 5 in stock. (I don't know how they consider a 6 hour drive relatively close by).

  • Picked mine up from Arndale SA this morning. There was 3 people waiting for the store to open, They were not happy when i told them there probably isn't any left because i reserved one and posted here about the only other on left. When the store open they went straight to the counter and the guys said "sorry they are all gone" then the arguing started.

I do feel for the staff, they get paid peanuts to put up with that and the guys at arndale did nothing wrong. They had 3 in total, 1 was click and pick up, one was me and the other would of been another ozbarginer ringing this morning.

If anyone is desprate for the PS3 i booked one yesterday in Karingal
    Shop T83, Centro Karingal Hub,
    330 Cranbourne Road,
    Frankston,

….and i decided i don't need it…so i will happily give the first person to pm me the confirmation order.

    Happy New Year :)

    • …..anybody;{

      • Still available?

    • EDIT…SOMEONE GOT IT ;)

Rang up colonnades this morning. Got the display model so I left the house without changing, brushing my teeth or shaving.

Then I sped there and then I forgot my money so I sped home, sped back to colonnades, found the closest parking spot available then pretty much legged it there in my thongs haha.

They still had it as no one else has called up yet. It's definitely been played before as there have already been trophies obtained but I can't complain for a price like that :)

Side note: I do not endorse speeding or bad hygiene

    • +1

      Well done :)

    • (y) At least they didn't tell you that it was new just put in a cabinet.

  • Firmware on the one i picked up is 3.72. (if anyone was interested.:P)

    • I don't remember what was it on the one I picked up ..but it didn't let me do anything (use store etc) without doing a firmware update

    • Mine is the same, can it be downgraded and install version 3.55?

  • +1

I just joined ozbargain as I have been lurking the past week (love the site) now to the point I rang 4 stores nearby, 2 had 1 ps3 each that were on hold for others then 1 store was out of stock and and the last (Robina) dick smith had an ex display for $168 so I asked for a discount because it was ex display got it for $150 plus 1 year warranty for $24 (normally $40) probably wont bother with the warranty though. Btw its not for me, for my little brother ps. hate the new model

  • +1

Dicksmith said the sold all 5 yesterday
HOW DO THEY DO THAT WHEN THEY WERE CLOSED :@

    • Some stores were open yesterday, which one told you that?

      • Bribie Island, sold out after they closed at 4pm.

  • Collected mine fine just now from melb east. Store had 5, all held.

Hey guys just picked up the last one they had sitting at Malvern DSE and I know that Brighton, Vic Gardens & Prahran are out.

I actually got up early to go to the Prahran store, got there 5 minutes past due to a v. slow (v. Frustrating) tram ride. There was another guy there as well and they told us both the only one they had left was reserved. We both called around and yeah there was only the one at Malvern, I figured it was too far away and would be gone by the time I got there so I went home. An hour or so later I decided to give the Malvern store a google for some reason and found they were actually just down the road from me so I gave them a call and they still had one, guess everyone had thought the same as me and not bothered, so I went down there and the rest you know.

Just turned it on and it still has NBA2k12 in the disc drive!

    • I tried my luck at 5pm today but obviously you bought the last one!!

  • +2

Helensvale store was out of stock except for their ex-demo model. I asked the guy if he would knock it down even more because it had some scratches on it, and he gave it to me for $145 with a replacement new controller and a high speed hdmi cable (as he couldn't find the original AV cable for it) which they sell for $60 - it's worth a go if all they have left is the ex-demo. I'd say that it's all that you can get hold of now if you can get anything at all.

  • +2

Rocked up at 1030 this morning after reserving the last one in stock at 0850, the staff were relieved I had arrived because the store was still showing possible stock online as the transaction wasn't complete. They had had 15 calls since opening and one guy called 2 minutes after me hoping to get one. Just got over the line.

    • Fox by name, fox by nature

Have the 320GIG model brand new and in stock at ST IVES for $228, they sell at good guys and big W for $440, so its just as much a bargin, pick one up and sell it on ebay for a $100 profit. Good luck, hope this helps anyone that missed out ( only sydney store i called that had stock)

    • +1

wont be able to pick mine up until tomorrow (New years day meant a 1 day delay from work pay) im 60% sure they will end up selling my one i have on hold even though i rang up and told them ill be in tomorrow morning and they said its fine. oh well.

  • Has anyone tried Victoria point?

  • Anyone have any luck with price matching at vic stores?

    • I asked the guys at DSE Prahran if they had any catalogue a that advertised this price (they didn't) and they told me that other stores won't match it because it's below cost price and other stores don't have to price match if its below cost according to recent legislation. I tried JB and EB on Chapel St and neither had stock anyway.

    • Just came back from BigW (SA) they price matched for me

      • Proof?

        • We must show them proof
I showed the price of PS3 from DS website on my phone, and BigW called one of the stores in SA up to make sure it is correct price and they still have them in stock

        • +1

I think what he means is do you have proof you got a price match?

        • Thanks darthhasbro

Yes I was lucky, because one of DS stores in SA yesterday was still had some stock, but was a bit far for me

So BigW called that DS store to confirm it was correct price, stock available etc… alot of proof

          Here is the reciept http://goo.gl/5IJdg

        • +1

Did you get it for free? Your receipt says declined.

        • Declined because i used in the wrong Gift Card :)

  • +1

If your local Big W store has stock, you can try to price match, they're all still the same company

    http://www.bigw.com.au/entertainment/video-games-consoles/ps…

Big W Penrith is showing stock :)

    • "If by chance you should find an identical item currently advertised at a lower price by another store, we guarantee to match the price on the spot. Just present the competitors current advertisement or ask an associate to verify the price."

"Excludes clearance or wholesale items; online sales"

There is no catalogue with this in it. It's an online sale…

      http://www.bigw.com.au/help/BIGWMissionandvaluesContent

Just rang a Big W store in Brisbane and they confirmed they can't match online prices. You might get lucky if you find a hopeless manager somewhere.

      • Online and In Store

        • +1

Ok….ignore my above post, and bear with me here.

I got Big W at North Lakes (Mango Hill) to match the price of $168. The guy said they still have about 10 in stock at 6pm tonight. They close at 7pm tonight.

I called the store first and he said that he'd have to call Dick Smith to check they had stock. At this point I knew I was screwed because Dick Smith is sold out everywhere. However, he called a Dick Smith store and they told him they have stock???? Have no idea what Dick Smith store. I'm assuming it's the Dick Smith's at North Lakes (same shopping centre), so it might be worth trying there even though it says sold out online.

I'm not sure if he's going to call Dick Smith again everytime somebody goes in to price-match, but it's worth a shot if you're after one.

p.s. I tried Big W at Strathpine and they had one left, but they wouldn't price match. They said there was no chance of price matching unless it was in a Dick Smith catalogue. They said it was only an "online sale", and they pointed me towards the mission statement on their website.

The guy at North Lakes couldn't be more helpful, the person at Strathpine….not so much.

        • It pays to be postive about these things, dont be so quick to nay say next time

      • +1

It's NOT an online sale, it's in store, I even put it in the title, you can't buy this online

I'll give you its a clearance sale, but it doesnt say that in so many words and if you really want one for that price then it's worth a go, someone has claimed they've al;ready ben successful

Big W and DSE are still both owned by Woolworths after all

        • DSE is not owned by woolworths anymore, its been sold

        • Yes, and DS Gift Cards can be used at BigW

        • There is an agreement to sell, but it hasn't been sold yet

  • Went to Darwin DSE bought one then walked out. I checked the box while walking home and to my suprise nothing was sealed. The ps3 console and the controller has scratches all over. It looks even worst than those from Crime converter. I went back in and asked for a refund.. I was hoping to grab a bargain but damn Dick smith suck bad…..

  • +1

Thanks OP, managed to grab a 320GB for $228.

  • Picked mine up this morning, it was the display model, they assured me it's all good. Meh, I'll get bored with it in a few weeks anyway…

Got it home to check it out and there's a Move Starter Kit inside too, I don't think that was supposed to be in there right?

    • +2

Nah. Must be an added bonus from the staff for buying the display model :)

      • +1

I was going to ask for a discount for being display stock in true OzBargainer fashion, but I thought it's already cheap anyway, and I couldn't be bothered. I scored a Move too, so I can handle that.

  • BIG W's have quite a few in stock, espcially Forest Hill which i happen to live around the corner to. They are closed now but will try to do a price match.

  • +1

Can someone confirm the security tag on the box is just a piece of clear tape ie like sticky tape?

    • +1

I think that's case, if you open the box, the paper under tape will damage.

    • Yes just a piece of sticky tap
I can show you the photo if you would like to see it
Bought one today and haven't opened it yet

      • +1

Nah that's cool. There is no damage under the tape so all looks good.

  • got the last one at yamanto QLD thanks op!!!!!

  • Got one at Eastlands(TAS),the staff were friendly and helpful, they still had three left
    many thanks OP

  • mine comes with firmware version 3.72 which i think not jailbreakable

    • yeah i did some research and it is not jail-breakable but there is a chance you can pay someone to downgrade the flash. (I didn't do any research on what models can be flashed)

  • +1

Got mine one from St Ivys this morning.
