Apple MacBook Pro 14" M4 GPU 24GB/1TB Space Black $2679 Delivered @ Emporium Electronics (Price Beat $2545.05 @ Officeworks)

900

MacBook Pro 24GB 1TB, on sale at this Sydney store via the link. Others on sale too.

I got Officeworks in Geelong to price beat it this morning, no issues.

Officeworks price is still $2,987.

$2,545 paid is the similar to getting the MacBook Pro with a RAM upgrade via the Apple Education discount, so basically an extra 500GB storage for free.

All the brand-new Smartphones carry a 1 year manufacturer warranty. You must contact the manufacturer’s customer care centre to claim your warranty.

All brand new laptops, ipads, tablets and other items will be covered for 1 year warranty from our company (conditions apply).

The m4 pro with 512/24gb is a pretty good deal. 10 performance cores compared to 4 in the base M4.

Plus extra external screens, faster gpu. It's good value.

    • +1

Yes I wanted it, but offficeworks had no stock to price match, $2,800 was a bit much, stretching the budget already!

    • Cheers, legend! My local officeworks offered to pricematch this one in black, but I was set on the silver. They wouldn't let me pricematch and also change the colour to silver since it needs to be an identical product, but was able to do that at JB hifi at the listed price. Happy with the result

    • Able to price beat calling OfficeWorks for $2,659.05, emporium still has 1 stock available, anyone wants to try PBG.

  • +5

@OP Might want to add M4 14" to the title

  • -3

    MacBook Pro what 14, 16? M3 or M4?

  • +2

You must put emporium in the title as price matching is not a Deal.

  • Just letting you know they are not apple authorised reseller

    • -1

So meaning their stocks might be grey imports?

      • which further means?

        • -1

nothing really. as long as you have warranty of course.

          • +1

@sangohan: But if not directly with Apple, warranty claim can be painful with some resellers?

    • +1

Thanks for the head up, thankfully got the price match at Officeworks.

  • Oh man, I just bought a bunch of apple gift cards and bought the M4 Pro MBP. Damn :(

    • Just buy from Apple AOC or edu program instead. Will probably ended up with similar prices.

      • Do Apple gift cards work in the edu store?

        • +1

As long as it's apple.com, then yes.

    • Yes, I just bought the new MBA 15 M4 and same chip and ram, although with 2TB storage for the Apple edu store for more than this, delivery 12/3.

The same MBA 15 with 1Tb of storage is $2819 at the edu store.

the MBP gets one more port and a superior screen, and a fan to keep it cooler. The only negs are one inch less screen real estate and the dodgy warranty.

Or, if you price beat, the same price as the MBA 15 with 512 Gb of storage and get the real Apple warranty

I won’t kill the MBA order, it is for Mrs Entropy and she will want the bigger screen and extra storage. And then there is the Apple warranty rather than store warranty.

Emporium is a grey import/refurbished seller. Buyer beware

    • +2

      So no local Apple warranty?

    • +3

Ah I wondered why the deal seems too good! Thank god Officeworks price matched.

      • +2

        Lol,
Seems this guy does not even know how to check if it is Australian stock or no.
X/A model numbers are always Australian models so use this information for the future so at least you know what you are saying.

  • Will wait for this year’s models, upgrading from M1 Pro 2021

    • +5

Might as well wait until 2026 - when the new OLED design is rumoured to come out.

      • +1

oh yeah, if Apple's current mini led already so nice, bet their new oled will be another level !!! Worth waiting … touch wood hope my 2012 macbook pro still can survive a bit longer

        • +1

Or, their mini led LCD is so good, the OLED will not be such a big difference.
I'm looking at OLED next to LCD phones now and can't tell the difference. … Oh wait, when I scroll the 120hz is soooo smooth.

          • @bargaino: I would much rather a good Apple mini LED screen over OLED.

Even the super expensive OLED monitors degrade over time. Not really worth it for a slightly better screen. OLED TVs make more sense to me.

          • @bargaino: Yes, I think the main reason to go OLED isn’t so much visual matters for the Apple user workflow but more thinness and perhaps power consumption.

  • 1 left in stock

  • Wonder if JBHIFI would price match

    • Yup they do

      • +1

Interesting you got them to. They knocked be back, as did officeworks as emporium sell grey.

    • +2

But you wont get that extra beat it by 5% like from OW

  • -1

    I want a 10 cent CPU and GPU…

  • What's the best 16 incher? I know it's subjective but I prefer it. I see they have one M1 max 16 left.

    • Suppose the m3 for around 3k?

      • +2

You need to be so brave and risky to spend $3k+ on any grey imports hoping in case of warranty claim will be a smooth process …

        • Good point although I'd guess you'd have to be stiff to a) need warranty, then b) for Apple to stand you up. They built it after all.

  • yeah I have the M4 pro version of this with 24gb of ram and 1tb I ended up paying 3500 at Haverynorman from memory in Jan 2025

  • This or the macbook air 15” m4 24gb/512gb ssd for similar price?

    • +2

I wanted the extra ports, and hdmi as I deliver workshops. I wanted more external screen ability too.

From looking at YouTube videos, the pro is all round better - screen, speakers, has a fan.

I image it depends what your use case is.

Pro weights a little bit more, 200-30 grams.

If you’re happy with 1 inch less on the screen, I’d get the pro.

      • there is a decent performance difference between the base M4 and the M4 pro for those that are curious there is a reason why you pay about 900 bucks or more for the upgraded cpu/gpu

        • Indeed, it is better to compare with the MBA 15.

The Apple edu store MBA 15 M4 with the same chip, RAM but with 512gb storage is the price beat price of this MBP. It only loses performance under heavy load compared with the MBP as it is fanless otherwise the same.

That said, I am not sure power users would be buying this particular MBP because of the performance difference between it and the higher spec M4 Pro and M4 Max.
But compared with the equivalent 1Tb MBA, the MBP has a smaller screen, but it is a superior screen, and more ports. This MBP is below the RRP for the equivalent new MBA edu$2819).

          But dodgy warranty.

The warranty reason is why which one is not clear cut for the closest equivalent..

  • I don't get it, I paid like 2,600 for my base m1 macbookpro (16gb, 512), how are these so much cheaper with high specs too. Mine was also on sale by 10%

    • +1

      grey imports

  • OW Pitt St Sydney refused to price match saying Emporium is not an authorised Apple seller.

    • Yeah no surprise, one of my frd ask OW while ago on another MBA price match from Emporium, and OW already refused with same damn reason, unless you are so lucky and run into a super dumb guy at OW … good luck

      • +1

I must of got very lucky!! I rang the customer line but they were closed the weekend, so double lucky!

        • Time to buy Powerball this week :)
