128 Gb rather than 64 Gb as well.
Load the 10% off apple gift card into the apple id account, $559 ——>$503
Or $827 for iPad Air (M3) + Pencil Pro?
I'm not even going to think about the iPad Air until it has microLED display for those pure black top and bottom bars when I watch movies at night. Apple needs to start putting more old "Pro" only features into the Air.
I'm willing to deal with LCD with the normal iPad, but I do notice it because I turn the lights down when I watch the movie. if you leave your lights on and hit that perfect brightness level, you can mask it a bit by keeping the room brightly lit. but yeah I like turning the lights down, so I would appreciate microLED!!
regarding M series chip I have no use for that. just a general tablet user.
I'd go iPad Air, the CPU performance is one thing, the RAM size is also different. It's so much more useful even let alone the local LLM support part.
I have a iPad Mini 7th gen, the game resume instantly after sitting in background for 2 days. With previous model the game would've been killed already after launching a few apps.
This will provide you a few years of extra life span.
on the other hand, you could also argue the money you saved buying cheap tablet right now would allow you buying another one sooner….
how to get 10% off cards?
they are twisting it a bit.
the recurring deal is 10% of the Apple GC value back in points (regular deals at Coles and WW), so $XXX GC means 10% of that to spend on groceries.
so that's how I see it, pay full price for iPad with Apple GC, get $60 free groceries at Coles/WW. well tbh in my case I bought around $200 Apple GC at the end of every year for subs through apple and to save up for the new 11th gen iPad (also called iPad 11 inch). so I got $20 off groceries x 3.
the only major GC % discount off when buying deal was the 15% off Apple GC deal which happened only once afaik. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/762500 I think 10% off was before that at the same store. but yeah never seen it come back since.
Does anyone know if Officeworks would price match this education price ?
Doubt it
Jb hifi does so worth trying
Costco also $559 and Officeworks price beat for me today
Did Officeworks price beat Costco? Do you mind sharing the receipt?
is this for a limited time or usual price?
No brainer really.
Any one please give me link to buy any pecil for this Apple iPad 11th generation through Amazon please? Don’t want to spend $100+ to buy Apple Pencil. Thanks in advance.
I'm looking at an iPad for a gift. As someone who doesn't know, would this be received as being a "cheap" gift - eg, is the model here the crap budget version? Also, what is the difference between this and current gen, is it a significant upgrade?
cheap
curse this inflation when almost 500 simoleons is considered cheap…
differences
here is the apple shop comparison, just ignore option 3
https://www.apple.com/au/ipad/compare/?modelList=ipad-11th-a…
Maybe the biggest thing is for $599 or $559 for education for the 11th gen, you get 128gb as opposed to 64gb - in this day and age I would stronlgy recommend at least 128gb.
Yeah trust me, I know, I mean it in the sense that a spoiled brat would judge and moan about it…
look, if its in your budget, and its your kid (so the complaining will continue at home as opposed to a niece/nephew etc), i wouldnt think twice about the 11th gen , purely for the 128gb.
@Jimothy Wongingtons: GF haha. Thanks for that comparison site, that was really useful. Looks like not a huge amount of difference, either one is fine, but yeah, storage is certainly a factor.
@Jimothy Wongingtons: This will be the only new iPad model released without Apple Intelligence so it won’t be able to take full advantage of Apple’s new iOS and app releases that function with Apple Intelligence. Depending on buyers use case, that might be an issue. I imagine it will also impact on resale value when you come to upgrade your iPad in a few years time.
If someone whinges about a new, recent iPad then save yourself a whole lot of money and buy something cheap that they'll also whinge about but you can go buy yourself a nice bottle of whiskey to drown out the noise.
@freefall101: Thankfully with the cheap flight deals to Japan I have a few good bottles of whiskey to cope haha

tbh the $599 price of the just released new 11th gen iPad was good news to me, because I remember just before 10th gen was released it was covid and they jacked up the price of the 9th gen to $499, and the 10th Gen iPad base 64GB WiFi was priced at $749!!!
I thought I might have remembered wrong but no I just googled 10th gen was $AUD749 in Australia on release day.
so I was satisfied with 11th Gen base model with 6GB RAM (+2GB) and 128GB base storage for $599 ($559 for Edu). I'm coming from a 9th gen with a cracked screen. 😅
If you are spending $500 as a gift, might as well stretch to $559 for current gen.
Yeah perhap you're right, not a huge difference, thanks.
Yeah, more likely than not they won't remember you pay almost $500 for the previous gen, but they will remember you gifted a previous gen.
Wanted to spend $300 and stretching to $487 for this haha
Get the newest one, 11th gen.
A bigger factor is life support, these days it's mostly based on release date, not power levels (they will just degrade/remove what doesn't work per model).
11th gen will get you 5-6years support from today. 10th gen is 3yrs down already, this is easily worth $50-80.
This isn't just for OS, apps will also have minimum OS reqs. These devices can last 8yrs+ when you hit good update cycles.
The 256 Gb is $647.
The MacStudio Apple M3 Ultra with 32-core CPU, 80-core GPU, 32-core Neural Engine 512GB unified memory 16TB of SSD storage is $22,149
Don't forget your 1.5% 'Cashrewards' cashback that may or may not go through.
How many negs can apple fanboys give me
You can buy a S9 tablet now for under $500 off Samsung website , just trade something small like a watch
It's like 10x better then this entry iPad and not to mention cheaper.(Almost)
You have to have rocks in your head to buy this at this price rightAndroid on a tablet sucks though. (IMO)
Samsung? Gross
iPads sh1t on everything in the tablet world. If you can’t see that then you’re the fanboi.
i mean you apple fan boys are as bad as teal voters

You're missing the point. iPadOS > Android on tablets. I own both by the way. It is what it is.
@botchie: There is a reason why Apple dominates the tablet market. So say what you want. The stats don’t lie.
@zubzub: you clearly cant read the stats on this one, s9 blows this POS out of water in every segment, only fools would buy it when at the same price
@botchie: Does it had iPadOS? If not, your arguement is irrelevant. This is why Apple has 52% of the tablet market and Samsung only has 27%. And then you put the iPad Air and Pro into the argument and no other tablet even comes close. I use both Android and Apple by the way.
@zubzub: A lot of that is simply the mandatory iPad usage for businesses and schools that probably reflects apple's locked down security settings more than an operating system UX choice.
By that same logic Android is better than iOS and Windows is better than macOS. I don't think you can say that definitively…@NigelTufnel: I prefer Windows above all, but there are no good Windows tablets in the right form factor. Android is fine, iPadOS is better for tablets. You can make a better arguement for the lower specced tablets, but when it comes to the Airs and Pros, there is just nothing in that league for performance, that is just a fact.
@zubzub: Personally, I hate iPadOS every time I have to use my daughters school iPad or my Mum's iPad. I'm much more comfortable with android tablets. But this is probably just because I have spent very little time using an iPad personally, and struggle to find where app settings and various things are.
And I love my mac computers, I just really struggle with iOS vs android.I think it's all just what your used to and how you work best. Horses for courses.
@NigelTufnel: Yep, that’s a fair argument. Personally I think iPadOS is much more stable and refined, but Android still does a decent job.
Isn’t that price only for the S9 FE?
I don’t know what’s the big draw card of the iPad OS. I have an iPad Pro and don’t see where the advantage of it? What I prefer about the iPad is more apps optimised for tablets. On my Android tablet lots of apps are just blown up phone apps. I find though there’s cons and pros to each. One thing I like about Android is easy side loading. Lots of modded apps and various apps stores to find all sorts of interesting apps that would never be allowed in the Apple world. I also prefer how easily it is to emulate GameCube games on my Android tablet, where doing the same is more of a pain trying to get JIT working and if you keep your iPad updated all the time the newer versions used to not allow it (might be different now). So I gave up. I could get some switch games to run on old Samsung tablet too, Apple Arcade though is better than the Google alternative. iPads usually lose out when using them for multimedia consumption, but older content that uses the 4:3 aspect ratio is better. The cheaper Android tablets with oled screens I typically prefer over the non oled iPads too. Samsung DeX I prefer over stage manager. I like Android tablets because they usually relatively cheaper for an oled tablet and more storage. So you can have the best of both worlds. ;)
samsung has a sale on now its s9, i traded in my old s21 and got it down to $370 or something
