Fool me once…

• So when do we get our money back?

• start requesting now.

• Pitty I missed it I really need a new laptop :(

• Déjà vu, from French, literally "already seen", is the phenomenon of having the strong sensation that an event or experience currently being experienced had …

Cut and paste HN error thread here and save time!
Mr built was misquoted as he said "ditto, Gerry"

Sometimes I'm glad I miss these deals.

Please price check all our prices for us before you order.

• Price error order cancelled

• -8

Order cancelled. Now the wait for my refund. Offer, acceptance and consideration would normally mean a binding contract…

• +2

Wonder what the cost price is, and if on a show of good faith they would allow us to purchase at said cost price.

• Too late and pointless to neg the deal now and I think most clever ozbargainers chose the bank deposit option and just wait and see as the price error was expected from the start. I hope The Mods will move this deal to forums as soon as possible.

• +4

It is very easy for any retailer. Make a price error for free advertisement and marketing … ACCC will not do any thing…

How many of you got your red light or speeding fine reduced or removed , by just saying "" I am sorry"

• +5

Yes, that is exactly the point. There are no consequences when retailers make mistakes and still ask customers to support the local business and in the mean time calling the government to lower the GST free threshold on overseas purchases. Competition will help them to wake up to the world of how online business should be done. At the very least, they can show "Professionals" some professionalism to try and make up for it. such as a store credit, purchase at their cost price and such. I understand they are running a business not charity but it's their reaction that makes the difference. Do you see Amazon making this kinda mistakes all the time?! I bet their business will take a big hit if they do. Most likely, they would just honour the errors and earn back their reputations.

• +4

You are going to increase competition by enforcing pricing errors that can send business bankrupt. OK THEN.

Also, stop using the term professionals.

Getting pissed at centre com over a comment Gerry Harvey made is ridiculous.

• unsure why you've been neg'd for this comment - it is one of the most sensible i've seen on this site for a while

• +8

i think he is being neg cause he is gerry harvey in disguise

• let see how they deal with this

• deja vu much??

i had this happen with the Harvey Norman Tablet..

they have handled it terribly.. :(

• +1

Windows 8… rofl. Dealbreaker for me, sorry.

• +4

Windows 8 = fail

• +5

ozpriceerror'd

• +7

Well, that was an easy way for them to get a few hundred new accounts. I hope everyone unchecked the news letter subscription option.

• -4

Can you please forward me your address so I can express post a foil hat to you.

• +6

TAKE….ME… TO…..YOUR ……LEADER

• +3

Modokun, can you please forward me your address so I can express-post a sock for your mouth? cazna52 was just expressing their view, which happens to be a factual observation unlike your baseless ridicule directed at him/her.

Express, not ridicule.

• paypal refunds are free of charges at either end
so is direct deposit. only cost is manual labour

• And after hours web support to take down the deal… And process reviews… And as previously mentioned manual labor for reversals.

But as I mentioned earlier, this price was semi believable given that sometimes pink hardware needs to be gotten rid of.

Well handled centre com.

• So is our precious time. In the end, we loose. Do you work for the coy by any chance?

• +1

Aargh since the Hp touchpad deal which I missed I was hoping to get a great deal since. Now Harvey norshit and this have made me sceptical for any future sales which will probably make me miss a genuine deal. Well I've finally learned if its too good to be true then it probably is.

• +3

Just had my PayPal payment refunded in full.

• +2

at least that was fast

• Yeah that's it.

• i did online bank account transfer. When and how will i get my refund? i reckon they don't have my bank details….

• I doubt it has even cleared into their account as of yet. It would take at least a business day to clear and vise versa.

• +1

i reckon they don't have my bank details…

You'd be right. You'll most likely have to give them your account details and then they'll have to manually transfer it back. It would be a good idea for you to contact them directly about your order and getting a refund.

• Move along, Nothing to see here; looks like an genuine pricing error.

• for prompt refund and honest apology.
• +5

Take note HN, that's how you make a timely refund.

• Hahaha… apparently I get a refund despite not actually buying one. They have a system in which an order number is generated before the payment is made. ie I added one to cart, went through the process then decided not buy at the last moment.

"Unfortunately we had an error on our webpage and several other WebPages that listed a specific product that was advertised at below our cost price. Due to this a number of orders were placed and will now have to be all refunded and $307.97 had been refunded via paypal to you. We do apologize for such error been caused and any issues that may have occurred to all the customers. For future reference if such does persist please contact the web department to double check that the prices are correct on [email protected] before placing and order and making payment.

Thank You for your understanding.

Centre Com

Thank You & Regards"

I haven't actually received a refund, and I doubt I will, but it does point out a flaw in their setup :)

• Just an automate email from an automate system, you didnt make a payment how will they make a refund

• +9

I don't feel surprised. I don't feel happy either.

• +1

i'm glad i dont have to deal with a pink laptop

• free advertisement for Centrecom at our cost

• +3

I don't see how people can really classify these "pricing errors" as advertising … maybe BAD advertising.

(We're a company that makes mistakes, and if you read through peoples comments on this post, you may find its not the first time either. Shop on our website - and if you think you're getting something cheap, well, think again muhahaha.)

• May have got the deal if some people didn't buy 10…….

• At least DSE pricing is real…

• +1

real…expensive?

• +8

It seems too easy for many companies these days to use 'pricing error' to cancel a sale contract, denied all obligation and legally obtain details of hundreds of customers as well as free advertising/exposures for their business. In additional to that they also place obligation on customers to verify the price with the company before every purchase. If this is what you call 'customer service' then it is very disappointing. After this experience I would rather spend my money on a more trustworthy company.

• +1

Absolutely.

• +1

maybe its Gerrys master plan to get us back shopping instore at bricks and mortar stores????

• Never realised Gerry owned centre com… Which is what this deal is about.

• Funny how both recent price errors with Australian online stores involved Asus products!

• Is Centrecom a bigger company than HN? Or they are just better at keeping quite for their mistakes and refunding your money?

• No. They are not. HN dwarf them in all aspects.

They made a mistake, they have already issued refunds, get off their back.

BTW, what do you do in life and how do you manage to do it 100% error free?

• All I can tell you is I don't get paid by the real "professional" to give comments on their behalf here for living.

• -4

Unemployed. Got it.

• +2

LOL, if you want makes assumptions, makes smart ones.

• +2

I dont know why Modokun is getting butthurt of this… does he work for Harvey or Centrecom… great job insulting potential customers…

• -1

You would stop shopping at a store because someone completely unrelated to them made a comment that concerned them which you felt insulted by?

The mind boggles.

• +3

Of course error happened doesn't matter how careful you are but in my job if I make an error there would be consequences. It would be nice to make as many mistakes as I like and just walk away blaming it on human error. Or perhaps I'll just in the wrong industry. May be I should quit my job and sell computers instead.

• McBrain Surgeon?

• How true, maybe in utopia we will not be penalised when making an error, but error make in our daily life will normally have financial or emotional consequences, immediate or in the future, and we learn from our mistakes and improved ourselves, but after making an error, the immediate action is to rectify the error if possible and apologised sincerely and quickly to the boss or customers or anyone affected by the error.

• +1

I ran out of breath reading that 70+ word sentence but a very valid point.

• -1

Bloody useless company! If they admit it's mistake, they should still honor the price e. I think it's just scam to gain some publicity and some instant cash flow. Well, they certainly done well for their publicity, I would never buy from them any more even if it's real bargain. Just not worth it. Not even sure how long it will take to get my money back now. Finger crossed.

• If it was just a couple of laptops you probably would, but it's never likely when it's in the 100's. just remember even if you ordered just 1, others probably ordered more!

• +2

I think both this deal and the HN Asus tablet were both highly optimistic… does anyone truly think that i5 laptops and tablets can be this cheap?

If you break it down, the parts are more expensive!

Who has a warehouse full of expensive items they want to throw out at half or less cost price?

There was never a possibility that either of these sales would be fulfilled. However I always blame the shop. People out there want a bargain.

Even if you put it at $50 a laptop or tablet, people will try it on. Knowing that, the onus is on the company to be correct. I can forgive Centrecom because they're a small chain but Harvey Norman? Very hard to sympathise with someone with the resources they have.

• -1

I sympathise heavily with the poor guys who made the errors. We all make mistakes, not everyone has an online community ready to jump on them.

Not saying on this deal people knew it was an error, but many of us lurk here waiting for a deal to catch.

• -1

Professionals you mean? :)

• when will the refunds come, nothing in my account yet, has anyone else got a refund??

• if you pay for it via bank transfer, best chances are before end of Friday as it takes time to clear the payment to show up on their end and vice versa.

• Log on your Paypal account and you can see the refund is completed. However to actually show up in your credit card statement, it will take up to 30 days!!

• +1

reason why i now shop for my stuff mostly at msy no frills bargains

• From Paypal. Bloody paypal!!

How is a refund credited?
PayPal credits the refund according to how the original payment was made.

If you used a credit card, PayPal credits your credit card. If you used a funding source other than a credit card, your PayPal balance will receive the credit. If you used both a credit card and another source, the credit card portion goes to the credit card, and the remainder goes to your PayPal balance.

lease note, refunds to credit cards can take up to 30 days to appear on your statement.

• i asked them how much the laptop is to the sales@ email address and they never replied :( rude

• bloody hell! i think they just shut down their email. I emailed them a few times and it keep bouncing back.

Anyone got the money refunded through bank transfer? Do i need to tell them my bank details?

• -1

same. pissed off. Centrecom can go to hell for all I care. I regret giving them a good rap before.

• Do i need to tell them my bank details?

Yes. See my comments here.

• no. i spoke to someone at sunshine store which is basically the main contact point for online store and the guy told me that they will refund the bank transfers through bank. The bank have all the sender details so it will take few more days to get the money back in to our accounts. we don't need to provide any bank details to them. You can find the Sunshine store number from their website.

• Fair enough, I stand corrected :)

• dang it. waste a lot of my time (1. to go through all processes to get my money back and 2.to post comment here).

• anyone still waiting for their refund?

• simple refund more than 2 weeks? i don't care they have gaziliion of refunds, put staff onto it!!

• +1

No offence, but why complain on here for. Get in touch with them directly if you haven't already.

• problem is their staff at sunshine couldn't care less, just said can't help you with the refund and put all the blame to sales team. And the sales email no response…now if you were me, what will you do? Too bad i'm in WA now, if not i would have barge into their store, and demand response on the spot!

P/S 12 days en counting and still no refund

• Well, if you're not getting any luck with their official channels, I'd be getting at them on their FB and Twitter pages. The longer you leave it, the less likely you're going to get your money back.
