Sold! Good find. Paid with Shopback credit so it cost me "nothing".

      That’s the spirit 🫔

  • in 4K? the image of back of box says 1080p for the 4K UltraHD disc movies

    EDIT: ah… misprint apparently - https://www.reddit.com/r/4kbluray/comments/1i1w2hc/deadpool_…

      Sounds collectible

    • +18

Almost as interesting as leaving a thoughtful comment such as this

    • +5

People still like quality, yes :)

    • +14

Better than paying for compressed garbage through a streaming service.

      • -8

Sailing the seas gets you better than bluray quality

        • -2

From where? It doesn't work like that. That have to source it from somewhere and normally the highest quality is from a Blu-ray.

          • +4

            @HaydosK: Bluray remux + Dolby Vision/HDR10+ injection

Different regions might have better audio too

            • @askbargain: What is a bluray remux?
How do people get bluray remux files?
              interesting, interesting, interesting?

            • +4

@askbargain: I can think of one, mayyybe two instances of ā€˜fan grades’ being better than a genuine 4K release.

              • @Jake T:

'fan grades' being better than a genuine 4K release

Even then, Harmy's despecialized vs 4K77 is an entire debate within that fandom

              • +3

@Jake T: They aren't talking about fan grading. Some movies on Blu-ray don't have Dolby vision or hdr10+ on the disc and just the hdr10 base layer or only one of the 2. You can download the movie from a streaming service and the Blu-ray and get the Dolby and HDR10+ from the streaming files and export them and layer them on top of the hdr10 layer. They have to be the same master/grade for this to work but most studios don't completely change the grading as you can simply take your current hdr10 master and use an editing program to add the Dolby vision tweaks.

            • -1

@askbargain: Ah yes that is true but still the source of the base layer is Blu-ray and you should be more specific with your comment.

            • @askbargain: How is Dolby Vision injected? I thought Blu-Ray discs came with the metadata already?

        • I play my Blurays on my PS.

I haven't šŸ„§ā˜€ļøšŸ§ø anything in a long time. Too much to stream.

        • +2

Are we allowed to post deals every time we find a new torrent now?

        • Often cheaper to buy and store the disc than paying to store a pirate version long term when you are talking 60-90GB for a film.

      • But is it better than setting up an android tv to play Blu-ray content on demand, from the seas, in a layout similar to streaming services?

Whatever floats your boat i guess.

    • -1

People still don’t understand why people buy blurays? That’s interesting

      • -1

Very interesting. I don't understand why others don't understand.

    • I would be interested in you coming back and really fleshing out what you're trying to achieve with this comment. What are you communicating to us? Genuine surprise and interest? Really? I'd like to discuss that.

      • Sure. I was trying to communicate that I didn't think they still even sold Blurays as the technology is so outdated. I went and just downloaded copies of all my blurays many years ago and then dumped the physical discs as the format is no longer viable. Having to have a physical player of the discs and then go and get the discs out of a case and insert them is way too painful when I can just select a file on my tv and press play for the same thing. Why are people investing in this old technology when there are easier and better alternatives available? Are they still buying VHS and audio tapes and reading books on scrolls of papyrus as well? It just doesn't make any sense to me other than people not knowing any better.

        • Well you learn something new every day as they say.

A lot of people respond to these threads with 'lurl who buys blurays lurl' comments but I'll take you at face value as it is certainly the case that physical media has declined substantially. UHD is a very small market. Much smaller than Bluray was. It's not a well known product by any stretch.

I don't own a UHD Bluray player. Ive considered it but it doesn't pass a CBA for me. I think people who have them are essentially video/audiophiles and UHD still outdoes streaming for quality (I think…).

I still buy blurays occasionally. I've been burned on streaming availability of what I want to watch many times. I could also sail the seven seas as a solution though…

I assume streaming can beat blurays these days? Or possibly digital purchases? I haven't thought about it too much.

But yeah look I am also just playing 'in the olden days'. I know that's true. I find it enjoyable and nostalgic. I'm not going to pretend that is some universal good.

Funnily enough I read an article the other day suggesting VHS tapes were meant to be making a comeback. Lol that definitely seems a bridge too far

        • You do realise we are talking about UHD Bluray here rather than old fashioned FullHD?

I don't buy new bluray anymore (as thrift/marketplace has the valuedropped to a couple of bucks) only 4K/UHD, as the price to quality equation adds up for me (though most of my UHD collection have cost $10-18 per film, I avoid anything I deem too expensive and steelbooks entirely).

As I mentioned above, if you want to own a film in the highest quality for a long period of time, you just can't beat UHD bluray. Running a NAS full time, or even backing up to cold storage you refresh every couple of years is far too costly when you get to 50GB+ films.

I generally rip the next few things I will watch in advance and watch via Plex on NVIDIA Shield (cheaper than a full featured 4K player with the same quality and zero skips ever), and delete after watching. So I still get your "convenience" factor while only paying to keep a single 8TB external drive running.

Ryan Reynolds vs Justin Baldoni intensifies

    • +1

Justin Nicepool seems too in love with himself to have been into Blakey.

    • He burnt down his own school, pretty sure he is a sicko, just look at what he made is own daughter do

      • You mean when the time when he made his daughter say something sick but then wanted to make sure she said it perfectly so he made her do it for an hour?

  • Maybe it will go down in price some more once as 'It Ends With Lawsuits' continues to get more exposure.

  • Thought Deadpool was passable but the sequels just get worse. Can't believe that I got suckered into importing Deadpool and Wolverine - (close to $130). It was not worth it at all, and the kicker seeing it drop to $30 overtime.

    • +6

Hey I got this bridge I'm selling. DM for details /s

      • Is it yours to sell or are you just the agent?

    • $130…..

      • +1

https://imgur.com/DH4aUgg —— It was actually $125.61 ($84.34 US). For the Wolverine steel case version. I've done similar things over the years. I imported Titanic for $101 when it was released…….. 3 months later it was under $50, a few months after that it was under $30, oh well.

But back to Deadpool and Wolverine - realistically had I been more sensible and not just hyped up to the wazoo about Hugh Jackman being back as Wolverine…. I wouldn't have even paid $20, as it's one of the worst movies that I've ever seen. Visually it looked great, especially in 4K……… but the "storyline" and scripting left a lot to be desired. Sexual humour doesn't make a movie automatically awesome.

and the kicker seeing it drop to $30 overtime.

Buy again and dollar cost average your Deadpool shares

  • I didn’t mind the first two Deadpool movies at the time, don’t have much desire to see the latest one with all the drama involving Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively though. #TeamBaldoni

    • By all means make life decisions around the narratives of Hollywood PR agencies.

The curtain really got pulled back on both sides for this one and you want to pick a side? Hollywood got you mate far more than it got anyone who watches a movie.

      • It’s fair enough if you don’t care to follow the drama, though anyone following the released evidence knows that one side is clearly in the right at this point. Plenty of people are in favour of actors finally facing the consequences for their actions - they chose the wrong person to bully and may struggle to find as much work going forwards.

        • Take it to Hello! Magazine mate.

A quick google search tells me that today's narrative is Blake Lively has a stronger legal case.

          Who cares!

You know what was more interesting? All the gossip sites reporting in it! Money money! You know what was more interesting? The fact it's apparently going to be a docuseries! Money money!

Celebrities don't need your respect or attention. You made me think about Blake Lively! I never think about Blake Lively! Why is someone who stands against Blake Lively putting Blake Lively in the spotlight?

I respect your righteous desire to support justice. This is honesty. But ask yourself something. Why is it Justin Baldoni? Is Justin Baldoni the most hard done by man at the moment? Is this where your sword of justice should point? Really? Who is behind it. Who is making you point your sword in that direction.

          Peel back the curtain.

    • +2

      your opinion is meh

  • Of all four, I still think Once upon a Deadpool is the best by far.
