Are you sure that wasn't the "Gaming" version and not the "Gaming Plus"?

    • +1

I have just got back into it and had no idea.
      That was cheap.

The slow boot times is worth noting. I ended up going with gigabyte

    • +1

Is that typical with MSI or just this one specifically?

      • Mostly MSI, other brands can also have slow boot times.

    • +4

you need to enable memory context restore

DDR5 barely has any gain with this these days. There was a small gain on DDr3/4

        • +1

Dawg what is considered a slow boot time.

          • @Beanut: My old gigabyte booted in 8 seconds, my msi out of the box took 30ish seconds. It’s, down to 27 seconds at this stage.

            • @onlinepred: 8 secs to login? That’s insane. I have a MSI B650m Gaming Wifi(not Plus) and it boots in 18 seconds with average DDR5. It was much longer without XMP and Context Memory Restore enabled.

              • @Beanut: Yes I thought it was normal, until I got my msi board, then after googling and seeing boot time measurements, gigabyte seems some of the best when it comes to boot times. Not that it really mattered to me but I noticed it going from under 10 seconds to close to 30 seconds

    • who says they have slow boot times? I have this same MB and the boot times are super fast!!

  • +3

    Just purchased one last week.
No issues with slow boot times, on par with my gigabyte b650 aorus elite ax. Maybe an update has fixed it?
One issues i did fund. Because the fullsize pcie slot is the second slot down, 3 slot cards will hit anything plug into the motherboard headers. I was able to gently bend the header plugs and make it work but YMMV.

    • +1

Yeah the PCIe slot position was my reason for avoiding it - I've got a 9800x3d in a Lian Li Dan A3 so space was a factor. I ended up getting the Gigabyte B650M Gaming X AX and I'm very happy with it

    • I have got the Xtx 9070xt swift with 3 fans. Is that going to be a problem?
Is it easy to bend the header plugs? Or is there some 90 degree adaptor we can use.

      • I used a 9070xt sapphire pulse and the bend on the headers was only a few degrees. I would compare the dimensions of the two befor purchase.

        • Holly Molly the XFX card I got says 3.25 slot thickness so I guess I have to get another mobo right? Can you please advice on this as my mobo is still sealed so I can return it.

Edit :Just checked and pulse has 320 mm thickness while XFX swift has 325mm. Should be good right?

          • +1

@kisshell9: I am but a mere mortal and not a system builder, so 0% knowledge of any other combination.
If the pulse was 5mm thicker then it would be a no. Without knowing the shape/profile of the top edge of the XFX its impossible for me to give a yes/no.
In in doubt, buy a different motherboard.

            • @JTRAUS: I think I have to return the mobo. The GPU blocks lot of it. Damn

    expired? showing me $219

  • 8.6% off. BUY BUY BUY!

  • Bought it from mwave for $195 last December, working good with 6400 C30 RAM.
It is better to choose a graphics card that is no thicker than 5.6cm, otherwise it will block the connectors on the bottom.

  • I hope you love your desktop long time.

  • Hey OP I'm thinking of building new PC too and interested to see what other parts you've picked and how much total it will cost? Able to share on PC parts picker your build?

    • So basically I look at the desktop build from here like from techfast, nebula and gala.
I then try to get similar parts or better for the price.
Usually these desktop builds have very bad motherboard.
That's how I got the nv3 SSD which seems good for the price. Usually my total comes less than techfast with a lot better quality products.

Savings I got was in MSRP 9070xt and 7800x3d from aliexpress which saves me about $300.

id recommend looking at hardware unboxed review on youtube for b650 mobos, most of them comes with shitty VRM and the better ones are just $20-30 more.

  • +1

It was $199 for the last whole year. I thought it was just the RRP. MSI just raised the price to sell B850

  • +1

It seems like every second day the price of this board at Umart flips between $199 and $219.
