Free Plus Pack Upgrade or $4,000 - $12,000 off on Pre-Config Polestar 2/3/4 + Free Evnex Home Charger Installed @ Polestar

790

Looks like there's a discount and seasonal offer for all Polestar models

Example: Purchase any pre-configured Polestar 4 before 30 June 2025 and you’ll receive a complimentary Plus pack upgrade (worth $8000), or for non-Plus pack cars a $8000 discount, as well as an Evnex home charging solution, complete with installation.

Normally a pre-configured Polestar 4 Long Range Single Motor is more than $94,000 driveaway. Now:

NSW: $85,888
VIC: $85,820
ACT: $82,517
QLD: $83,761
SA: $85,270
WA: $87,267

Definitely on the expensive side and the specs probably aren't worth the RRP compared to other EVs but they do (at least in my opinion) have some great aesthetic.

Why anyone would pay more for a Polestar over a Tesla or BYD is beyond me. I had a Polestar for a few weeks as a loan car whilst my Tesla was repaired after an accident, and it just puzzled me.

    • I can almost guarantee that was a Polestar 2 which is an outdated pos car now.

      • Correct. I can't comment on the other Polestars, but even if they're improved, I can't understand why someone would pay a decent amount more for them than a Tesla or BYD. Happy to be informed on the benefits of the Polestar 4 over a Model Y or BYD Sealion/Atto

        • -1

They're not. The Model Y alone outsold all Polesmoker models by almost 10:1 last month.

          • @Captain Yobbo: Not what we're talking about. Everytime I see someone driving a Polestar, I wonder why they chose it over a Tesla or BYD. I'm not asking about which is more popular as thats obvious

            • @jay889344: I agree with that too, the 2 looks like a shoebox on wheels, the others aren't much better ie the 4 looks like an updated Chrysler Crossfire. I suppose taste is subjective, but surely it's part of the reason they aren't selling.

              • +2

@Captain Yobbo: Many Polestar 2 owners bought it because of how good it looks and how well it is designed.

                • @tp0: I'm sensing some cult vibes…if they were as amazing as you & others insist they are the sales numbers & reviewer scores would reflect that. Anyway, no diss, they're just not for me.

                  • @Captain Yobbo: The Polestar 4 was awarded luxury car of the year. They are well regarded vehicles. They're just priced a bit beyond the mainstream EV market and seem to really rub Tesla owners the wrong way leading to some poor word of mouth.

Not to mention being a new brand doesn't help either. They really shot themselves in the foot with that one. They could have easily been sold as a performance/sporty line of Volvos rather than a totally separate make.

                    • @tp0: They seem to be poorly marketed. The Brisbane dealership in the heart of FTV, not far from Lambo & Ferrari dealerships, is crummy and run down with the cars parked outside. No prestige or comfortable showroom to view the vehicle in, they have them jammed into a tiny streetside lot on a main road with no parking. Might be why they're very rarely seen up here.

          • @Captain Yobbo: Wont be for much longer. Only fanbois buying Tesla now.

Because some people value design and handling characteristics.

Ngl tempted to cancel my Y long range order for one of these at this discount.

  • Just so everyone is aware - there are cars showing up in "Available car" list where deliver is past July. Polestar support confirmed that deliveries after July will not come with complimentary Plus. Before you put a deposit for August or later deliveries, best to confirm.

  • Would have jumped on this in a heart beat 12 months ago for the P4. Amazing car and this would have put it well under the FBT exemption. 400 bucks a week would be awesome. Alas, 12 months later im in the market for a chinese EV instead, way more features and better quality for cheaper the price. What a shame!

I don't get why some people says Volvo (Polestar) is Swedish brand when clearly it's Chinese. It just a luxury Chinese brand

Like no one says MG is British brand anymore, it's clearly Chinese.

    • They claim that Volvo still has 'staff' in Sweden, so Swedish designed, Chinese made. Bit like Apple does.

    • +3

Polestar is a Swedish company with headquarters in Gothenburg. The cars are designed, engineered, developed and tested by Swedish engineers. Spend some time with the product and you'll clearly see the difference European design and engineering makes.

      • -1

The cars are designed, engineered, developed and tested by Swedish engineers

The CCP bots here don't understand the difference between design and build. 99% of the examples they give of things 'made in China' were designed in the US or Europe. Even if you look at the a lot of the products 'designed in China', they are usually staffed by American or European Engineers and Architects. China will catch up one day, no doubt, but they aren't at the same level yet.

      • like most chinese EVs nowadays, they just hire the europeans like BYD did for their head of Design who is ex-Audi. Polestar is just another premium chinese badge, no difference in quality if you compare to the more premium offerings like Zeekr Denza etc, and they are usually cheaper. This is why Polestar isn't selling in China. but some people can't grasp that the Chinese can make quality products and will call anyone that challenges their narrow world view a CCP bot

        • Funny you mention Zeekr, a company also doing design and R&D in Gothenburg, Sweden. Although in that case it's in collaboration with another office in Shanghai.

No argument that BYDs look great from the outside. Egger is doing good work with the team there. If only the same attention could be applied to the software UI and UX.

          • @tp0: I have heard the Chinese EVs have some difficulty with our lane markings with the lane keep assist being quite jittery. Not sure if the new models/software updates have revised this yet. The progress should be quite rapid.

          • @tp0: Zeekr and Volvo are both owned by Geely Holdings, If by Swiss 'R+D' you mean their design headquarter is in Sweden, then sure, like all big MNCs nowadays.Their platform is built on GEA, a domestically developed modular platform they license to other manufacturers.

Design takes heritage and is one of the few areas the European still has an edge over the Chinese automakers.

Software wise Xpeng is probably the better ones but I wouldn't roll the dice on them in Australia given their financials

            • @V2L: Only Geely use GEA, a cut down budget derivative of SEA which is used by Zeekr, Smart and Polestar. SEA was developed by "Zeekr Technology Europe" which is a company based in Sweden.

Geely have a lot more than just design in Sweden with engineering being done by Polestar and Zeeker Technology Europe. This is reflected in the more favourable reviews both brands get compared to other Chinese makes.

Xpeng software is good. You'll find they have an office in Silicon Valley. Not a coincidence.

              • @tp0: Is multinational companies having global presence to leverage competitive advantages a new thing? All companies, chinese or otherwise do this. If this helps you to come to terms with premium chinese products, then sure, whatever it takes

Geely have a lot more than just design in Sweden with engineering being done by Polestar and Zeeker Technology Europe. This is reflected in the more favourable reviews both brands get compared to other Chinese makes.

I have not seen any favourable reviews on Polestar compared to chinese EVs. In fact Polestar is largely irrelevant and barely selling in China. Among premium tier products Nio would dwarf polestar and zeekr put together

As it is the Chinese are world leading in battery tech and self driving AI. Where they are lacking is software, and car making experience for the polished package feel - think handling/dynamics, design and experience for that luxury experience and hence they are leveraging european experience - something BYD is pioneering with Yangwang for domestic market. we have no idea what it's like as we have so little exposure with a limited selection of mostly budget offerings. it's quite eye opening how cut throat and competitive their domestic market is

                • @V2L: I don’t really care what sells in China to be completely honest. You’re far better off pointing out how poorly Polestar sells in Australia.

although that’d still be irrelevant. People buy junk all the time. That doesn’t change the quality of the product.

Polestar 4 just won Drive Luxury Car of the Year. Polestar 2 was always considered one of the best driving products in its class.

                  • @tp0: fair, it's not a bad car, it's just harder to compete when there's a lot more quality offerings, that's the only reason I bring up China, given we have so few options currently in Australia - and polestar numbers aren't stellar either. Maybe in 1-2 years the landscape will look a bit different

    Bloody Polestar CEO…..killing demand!

v2g needs to hurry up - 2030 to implement it is BS, till then no EVs for me at least

  • +6

biased opinion, I own a Polestar 4 ('base' single motor model, no upgrades).
it's probably the most luxurious and serene driving experience I've had in a car I have owned.

No, it's not a cheap car, but then neither are BMW's, Mercs, Audis… heck even VW is playing in this price range now.
Haters gonna hate… anti EV and anti-Chinese manufacturing etc…

also, the Evnex charger is fantastic. Very well made, the solar diversion setting is terrific for homes with excess solar as well.

  • All the EV cars look very similar in Styling. Either they are lazy with Styling or it is the most aerodynamic shape possible.

Can buy a Suzuki Jimmy for weekends and a Chinese EV for the price of one of the polestar

  • +3

As an Polestar 2 (my23) owner I can attest to the Swedish design. Polestar are headquartered in Gothenburg. Bloody lovely car, like driving a minimalist Swedish mid century side desk. Really good quality and well built - credit to Geely for both build quality and letting them do their own thing.

I'm a convert for one of our use cases - home to city commutes and non-long range journeys. While we got a good deal on an ex-lease car the brand is normally expensive. Honestly great designers at Polestar, some of the best on the roads.

Other brands have some great features (like price and tech). However I reckon hybrids offer more flexibility for longer journeys here in Australian because chargers are either flaky or not there.

  • To be fair, compare this price to what they sell on the Chinese market, it's not too bad. But, it's overpriced. That's why no one buys them in China.

    • +1

I can imagine why. the Chinese EV market is brutal, so many quality products at cut throat prices

  • A word of warning.

I really, really wanted to buy one. Signed up for the first test drives when they dropped. And a lot of what's been said is true around design and luxury.

But all of that was ruined by the worst steering wheel controls I've ever experienced. Impossible to hit consistently, and just ruined what is otherwise a rather nice car.

They recalled them for this overseas - went back to dealer last week to see if it's better and nope - still vague and terrible.

It was a deal breaker for me. As someone who's constantly toggling through tracks and dialling in volume - it would kill me.

  • Looks like Evnex charger offer isn't there anymore? Time is running out. Not a bad deal as I have my own home charger already.
