So what's the price? Normally they're a ripoff so I wouldn't trust it to be a deal

    100/20 $75
    250/50 $79
    1000/50 $89

    • +2

      100/20 $85 (normally $95)
      250/25 $99 (normally $$119)
      1000/50 $109 (normally $129)

      • +15

Still seems like a rip off!.

        • +2

Spintel got the best deal but not sure how good they are

    • +2

If you’re comparing this against the cheapo brands (TPG, dodo, etc) and only care about price, then yep this isn’t a good deal. You can save a few dollars more.

I’ve mostly been swapping between the more expensive services and life’s been easy. Zero issues. I’ve just changed to a cheaper brand to try and there are little issues here and there, and definitely a performance hit at peak times.

Not bad enough to switch away back to more expensive service.. but close.

      • +2

When you can get 1gbps on Spintel etc vs ABB 250mbps, the cheper ones cannot go below 250, can they? What sort of performance hit do you have?

  • +5

100/20 is coming up as $85 for me, normally $95.
    Not a deal.

    • 100/20 is coming up as $85 for me

      I'm paying $85 for 250/100 with Superloop

I can only see 250/25 on their site, where do you get the 250/100 plan from?

where do you get the 250/100 plan from?

          Superloop.

It includes a Static IP too…

@jv: Requires an ABN, and it is not a residential plan.

            • +1

              @Monsta-AU:

it is not a residential plan.

I used the offer to replace my residential plan at my residential address.

              • @jv: But if it requires an ABN, it's not generally available to everyone. Even the title of that post mentions the ABN requirement.

Not arguing about the fact you have a business service at a residential address, that has been happening since ADSL was launched.

                • @Monsta-AU: avn is available to anyone & everyone for free

                  • @M00Cow: What is avn?

                    Adult Video Night?

                  • @M00Cow: Not everyone is entitled to an ABN. You may face prosecution or criminal charges if you apply for an ABN, register for GST and claim GST refunds when you’re not entitled.

I don't understand if you are allowed an ABN if you have no plans to use it apart from to get a power pass from bunnings and better internet plan

                      @UNFKNBLVBL:

register for GST and claim GST refunds when you’re not entitled.

never said that part. just the ABN bit
                      Stop being a worry warrior

                      • -1

@M00Cow: no I genuinely want to know, tax/financial crimes for individuals seem to get severe punishments so I don't want to mess where I shouldn't be.

                        • @UNFKNBLVBL: there's no crime or illegalities registering for an ABN.

you added the irrelevant extra bit about GST and claiming what you're not entitled too. Which is nothing to do with what I said.

                          • @M00Cow: I can't work out who is entitled to an ABN
                            https://www.abr.gov.au/business-super-funds-charities/applyi…
                            ABN entitlement
Not everyone is entitled to an ABN.

If you read the first section of the linked page it suggests you cannot have an ABN with no intention of using it.
"If we conduct a review, you'll be asked to provide evidence that you commenced, or took steps to commence, your business or enterprise from the start date provided in your ABN application."

Does jotting down potential company names on a notepad count as taking steps to commence a business?
It is very vague. I also can't see what the outcome is if you do not have evidence, I was hoping someone on here had the answers, I have wanted an ABN for years but found I wasn't confident enough with the information provided.

Looks like I will just continue to stay away

                            • +1

@UNFKNBLVBL: I'm sure it's vague for their benefit.
I got an ABN a few times (re-registration), purely for the purpose of getting a .com.au

It reached a point where I couldn't do it anymore. I really don't want to mess with government dept, so I need to try transferring "ownership"

                  @Monsta-AU:

FTTP residential isn't available to everyone either.

Yes, you need an ABN, but they are free…

                  • -1

@jv: ABN might be free but the time/effort/cost of BAS reporting is not. Not everyone wants to deal with that.

If there is a prerequisite in something you are claiming, you should be mentioning it. If you had put 'Business Plan, ABN required' then that would have covered it. I mean you bitched at OP for no price in the title quite fairly, the same standard applies to replies offering an alternative.

    PRICE in title…

    Read the posting rules…

  • Still on the last promo $20 off for 1 year, is this for 1 year? Paying $75 100/20

    • Exetel is usually $65 for 100/20, and I noticed Spintel is too.

  • +2

Cmon man 23 posts and this is how you format a deal.

  • +1

Only 6 months duration, and still expensive. With the $20 off, 250/25 is still $99 a month.
I'm still on the superloop promo from a while back where 250/25 was $79 a month for 12 months. With a free modem included.

  • Buddy telco (ABB sub) is $99 for 1Gbps ongoing.
My offer with ABB ends next month and my 1Gbps plan moves to $129.
Have people have any experience with Buddy?

    • +1

Maybe worth giving Superloop a look?

      • Thanks but I was with SL before ABB. I'd never go back.
Plus they're normally $109 for 1Gbps ($99 discounted) vs Buddy at $99 ongoing.

        • $100 ongoing for 250/100 including Static IP

          $85 for first 6 months…

          • @jv: The 250/100 plan you linked is a business plan requiring an ABN and only FTTP.
I want 1Gbps, don't have an ABN and am on HFC, So 0/3.
Plus, as I mentioned earlier, my time with SL was bad & I'd never go back.

            • @sinners007: yes, it does not apply to HFC.

ABNs are free and lots of people qualify…

        • Just had a look at buddy and to opt out of CGNAT you have to pay extra for the fixed IP service.

    • Same really just they don't have the support but anyways never for ABB to be useful before anyways. If there's an issue with the internet, just gotta wait it out so makes their customer service redundant

    • I'm on that plan and have had no issues

    • How come Buddy cannot find my address?

  • -1

The 250/ 25 plan is showing up as $99 after the $20 discount which if anything is above their competitors pricing.

Surely this Spintel plan @ $80 for the same 250/25 speed is a much better option - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/900743

So from a big rip off to a rip off now yay

Leaptel 89 for 250/25 is the way to go

      $85 for 250/100 is better…

      • where?

          • +1

@jv: "Returning customers, who have previously been with Superloop and already received a six (6) month discount promotion, will not be eligible for a new promotion or this Offer for a period of twelve (12) months."

this rules out most of OzB community…

            • @radissimo: I was a residential customer with Superloop, moved to the 250/100 plan.
They gave me a new customer ID and I'm now being billed for $85 for 6 months.

I didn't even ask for the discount, just asked to change the plan and provided my ABN.

      • Leaptel service is better should you need it. But yeah price wise superloop is hard to beat.

        • Leaptel service is better should you need it.

You get much better service with Superloop on their business plans…

Prioritised support in under 5 minutes
Jump to the front of the queue with priority status and talk to our support team within five minutes guaranteed (or you could get a $10 credit).

          • @jv: Didn't think business grade NBN was available from superloop for 85pm. Great if that's the case.

  • +2

no thank you i don't think this is very good value

  • +7

Aussie used to be great value, now everyone else has caught up and theyre pretending to be Optus and Telstra with their prices.

    • <<< this

    • +3

What they are doing is paying Australian wages to Australian employees and that costs money because we have a good standard of living. If ABB was to be paying Indian/Phillo wages, I could understand to gripe. If Optus and Telstra had Australian call centres then it would be a fair comparison.

      • Most isps have Australian staff, and last time I looked a bunch of the better valued ones also had Australian call centre staff. Definitely doesn't warrant ABB being $20 more expensive than everyone else.

    • +1

plus aint even interested to price match to retain customers

  • Just got email from TPG that my plan is changing ….
    .
    Current Plan
    NBN Cable 50 (50Mbps download / 17Mbps upload)
    $79.99/mth
    .
    New Plan
    NBN Cable 50 (50Mbps download / 17Mbps upload)
    $84.99/mth

  • +1

I'm with TPG 100/20, paying 65$/month for 12 months. Used the price match to match dodo offer if someone is interested.

  • +1

I pay this for 250/25 with 5 speed boost days to 1000/50 a month… Aussie has consistently snuck the prices up.

I get it they have a support overhead but it's getting ridiculous.

  • nbn Ultra-Fast 1000/50 $109/month for 6 months, save $20/month with code BIG20. $129/month ongoing.

In my opinion, Buddy at $99/m ongoing with a $5/m static-ip bolton may be better value if you are in a low-maintenance technology type. (Ie. FTTP, not HFC.)

$5 cheaper a month and no fiddling around at the end of the 6 months.

Alternatively you could just trial ABB with this coupon for 6 months and see if you require any actual customer support that you couldn't get via the app, and then port over to Buddy

  • I swear Aussie BB used to be decent value..

  • Absolutely dreaming to think we have bargains here. Half price and still too expensive when comparing. Not a BIG switch at all.
The so called 6 month off deals I think are deceiving. Don't get sucked in, do you math.
We need internet and as a consumer we are getting taken for a ride.
    @Dyl everyone are increasing prices.
Amazingly when i ring around to save money and transfer 1 nbn and x4 mobile plans, all I get is use the internet, no bargaining.
I feel better now to allow me to vent.
