nice if not very tasty crisps… if you know… better than any smith chips…

In a nutshell, these are surprisingly YUM. If you are looking for a tasty, crunchy, healthier alternative to chips (that don't taste like mushrooms) these are worth trying.

While smaller 30g packets can be found in Coles and Woolworths health foods section, being able to buy this 150g bag is more economical and spares landfill of several packets each purchase.

Very happy with this purchase. Thank you.

Coles have 65g for $3 (thats half price), so while it is cheaper it's not crazy cheap. But you're right these a delicous.

    • So they are price matching coles

  • +4

they are way nicer than they have any right to be

  • Is this cheaper than Costco?

    • +3

      Costco is 12.99 for 300gr.
I got them on special for 9.99 a couple of weeks ago

  • Is it Made in Australia?

    • Australian own and made, from local and imported ingredients. What that means is anyone's guess.

      • +1

Like Australian salt or vegetable oil and Chinese mushrooms.

        • +2

And maybe not even all the vegetable oil is from Australia, they could blend 1% Australian oil to 99% imported, and the rest of the ingredients imported, and still claim is it is 100% Australian own and made, from local and imported ingredients. They could just have one of the workers spit into each container full of ready to eat mushrooms chips that come in from the port of China and that spit is the Australian ingredients.

          • +3

@AustriaBargain: And "Australian owned" could mean that some Chinese company has 100% shareholding in the Australian registered company that owns the brand and makes these using 99.99% foreign ingredients.

    • Nope, the chips are from Thailand they come in big boxes and It's packed in Sydney manually.

  • My wife and I found these revolting (so much so i used black felt pen to mark out 'take' on the label however our friend just visited said she likes them and took them home. So I'd say love them or hate them. Good price is you love them

      Shiiiiiii

They seem to change a bit over batches. Some are awesome, others not so much - the texture varies, not the taste. Some are really crispy (and super nice), others are like oily compressed powder.

I'm always intrigued by this slogan on all their packets.

      • Malaysian Airlines has something similar, we thank Allah for this flight.

    • +1

Should you have only marked out the 'ake'?

      • haha yeah, it works

    Why?

  • These are amazing. Brough 4

    • +2

      Right on, brough

  • These also hydrate really nicely when put in soups!

  • Love this stuff. Thanks OP.

  • Thanks, bought 3

  • Really tasty.

They were recently in Costco on discount at $9.99 for 300 grams - I love them. Also apart from snack if put them in boiling water they will become like freshly boiled mushrooms (this is how they were serving them in Costco during tasting), or can do a great soup with them…

  • Off topic - I've always eaten the button mushrooms but thought i'd try the variety pack the other day. They mostly tasted identical, some subtle differences, but apart from the texture nothing that stood out. I wanted to try other varieties but don't want to splurge on exotic types if the taste profile is almost identical

    OOS !!!

  • The last few times i've bought some of these there's been a moisture issue inside.. a lot of the mushrooms were a bit soft and made me a little nauseous. I used to love these but yeah never buying them again.

  • in this economy this is unaffordable :(

  • +3

    Yuka rating - 51/100 (good)

✅ No additives, 90% vegetables & high in fibre

    ❌ High in saturated fat

  • Got sucked into the ozbargain hype, these are nothing special
