Looks like a good deal on a viral kitchen appliance. Make super soft ice cream type things. Popular in the fitness for community for low sugar, high protein ice cream.

My understanding is that the deluxe gives you higher volume containers and ability to only spin half the container. Also, a bit more heavy duty with bigger blade.

Just be aware you have to bung it in the freezer overnight. It doesn't do it on the spot.

    • +21

I'll wait for the model that puts it in the freezer for me

      • +5

I'll wait for the model inbuilt into the freezer

        • +6

ill wait for the one that builds the freezer for me

      • +2

The $49 Kmart one from a few months ago had a built in compressor 😉

        • +1

Ive seen the results of a cuisinart compressor ice cream maker and the ninja comes out better I reckon. With the cuisinart you had to put some alcohol like isopropyl under the bowl as a lubricant, not sure if all compressor types are the same.

          • +1

@Spendmore: My cuisinart from the recent Myer $235 deal doesn’t require isopropyl alcohol. Works well

            • +1

@Iggy Blue: Yeah I just read the manual to see if it was required but there was nothing, the person I saw using it must have been confused or saw some youtuber doing it 😅

  • These are great, I wonder if the deluxe unit is as noisy. The noise is probably the only complaint although its only 2-3 minutes it operates.

    • +6

i have the deluxe unit, it is definitely noisy, probably equally or louder than the standard

    • +2

They are both the same 800w so probably the same motor and noise

  • Standard is $250 with $15 coupon applied in checkout

    • +1

ah didn't realize that. Ended up just getting deluxe as the price difference didn't seem like much and discount seemed higher with deluxe

      • +1

True, ended up getting the deluxe as well. Good price.

Just FYI, Ninja Swirl is the latest model, with built in soft serve dispenser. All the rage on the tik toks apparently…

    • Briefly saw that but looked a lot bigger and space is currently an issue for me. The cleaning must be also be annoying on the soft serve nozzle. No idea if the quality is much better though?

      • +3

I havent looked into it, but pretty sure the Creami scraping section will be pretty much the same on the Swirl model (effectively the same thing, but different tubs and maybe some different pre-programmed "recipes"), so results should be similar. It's basically just a soft serve dispenser attached to the side of a Creami.

Whether that soft serve dispenser is important to you or not.

        • I wonder if the dispenser actually makes it softer

    • -5

      still no compressor?

even aldi has a compressor model..

      • +3

This is like asking why a Tesla doesn’t have a turbo. eVeN Kia’s HaVe tHeM.

          • +3

@pinkybrain: Tesla sails? Are they competing in the Sydney-Hobart?

        • -3

          What you smoking?

Tesla sales declining and many people are selling theirs ..

This just makes ice cream and is even more work to make it (need to freeze ingredients 24hrs earlier) compared to the aldi
Doubt the ice cream would taste that much better than the aldi one

          As someone said below
"I sold mine within 2 weeks of getting it. It's an overpriced blender that you have to prepare 24 hours in advance."

          • +1

@pinkybrain: You can't really compare the Ninja to any other conventional ice cream makers.
The others beat air into a cold or cooling liquid, while the Ninja micro slices frozen ingredients.
The ones with a compressor allow you to add the fruit ingredients towards the end of the ice cream process outside the freezer.
You still have to freeze the Ninja ingredients both before and after.
But it is versatile offering many styles/ types of sorbets, ice creams etc, using a greater variety of ingredients.
It seems adding gelatine or similar does allow less sugar.
Protein pudding powder desserts are easier with Ninja possibly.

It’s wild that in 2025 you can buy a pacojet from Amazon for $250

    • +10

Not sure why you got negged - that's exactly what the Creami is: a consumer grade Pacojet.

    • +1

It is a wild thing that is for sure!!

    • When I click this, then go to deal from the next page cashback is only 2%? (help pls?)
      (L for learner)

      • It’s over

    • This is what I did. Plus rewards points. Tested it out today. Game charger 🙏🏾

I just want the Slushie machine to go on sale!

    • +2

Same, it seems like a great unit I’d use a lot more

      • +2

As posted below, we have the slushie and it is worth 25 of these machines.
Ninja Have a 10% off first purchase on sign up but to be honest I wouldn't even wait until they drop in price. Just get one because they are so good. You will not regret it.

We use ours everyday and sometimes twice a day. You can pour anything in it as long as it's got at least 5% sugar and 20 minutes later you have delicious slushies or milk shakes for all.

Today we tried monin white chocolate syrup in a thick shake and I thought I was in heaven

        • What's so good about the Slushie machine vs the Ninja Creami?

          • +4

@NotReallyaMoneySaver: They must prefer slushies over ice cream, not a massive slushie fan myself unless its summer and they are alcoholic. Our creami gets hammered and would replace it the same week if/ when it breaks.

          • @NotReallyaMoneySaver: No preparation v 24 hours
No noise v louder than concord
You can make almost ice cream consistency by ramping up the fold setting
            Easier to clean

        • +7

We use ours everyday and sometimes twice a day

Have you been checked for diabetes?

        • I think they quite different machines?
Or at least the slushie only does that frozen drink thing (very well).

    • You can do slushies with this of similar quality it seems

      • Nah

  • +2

this or 6 $49 ones from kmart

    • +3

      This.

      • +3

        Name checks out

    • I just bought the $49 Kmart one 2 weeks ago. It has compressor so you don't need to put in freezer. THe ice cream is frozen when it finishes. Takes around 50 minutes. It really works very well and the manual comes with a few ice cream recipes but lots available by googling it. We have made pistachio, corn and cheese, avocado and Durian ice cream with it. We buy the frozen Durian pieces from Asian store and mix with cream and a bit of condensed milk.

  • deluxe has bigger containers,, dial functions compared to the buttons, more options for making different desserts as well

  • -3

I sold mine within 2 weeks of getting it. It's an overpriced blender that you have to prepare 24 hours in advance.

It's also the loudest kitchen appliance of all time.

We have however recently purchased a slushi which makes a very good thick shakes and is an absolutely superb machine that has been used every single day, sometimes more than once. I will never ever get bored of using it. It really is worth buying one

I would get that over this and just have thick shakes and you can do them on the spot. You can almost get ice cream texture

    • Technically a home variant of the picojet which are highly regarded in commercial kitchens.

Just curious if you didn't try the ice cream or the thick shakes before returning?

      • -4

I don't need to prepare bowls and bowls of stuff 24 hours in advance just to have something tomorrow or the next day

        It was crap
I was glad to get rid of it. The noise did my head in. I've heard quieter pneumatic drills

With the slush I pour the stuff in. I wait 20 minutes and I get what I want. And like the juice loosener its whisper quiet

        • +1

          Fair enough

        • +2

Sounds like you did a lot of research before purchasing it /s.

          • +2

@Spendmore: Impulse buy when shopback had a 30 or 40% cashback offer uncapped.

That's the only reason I was able to sell it and not lose money

            • +2

@Halfpea: Yeah fair enough, guilty of impulse buying from time to time too. I also agree about the noise. Other than that I think the finished product with these is very good, just need to plan at least 10hrs prior. We bought spare containers cheap from temu so usually make a large batch that sit in the other freezer.

            • @Halfpea: I know you sold it, but how much did you end up getting the NC501 for after cashback?

              • +1

@neezy: I got $120 cashback and it was $349.99 before cashback, it was the deluxe one

I actually made a profit selling it 🤩

                • @Halfpea: Epic deal! Do you remember which
                  deal/cashback it was?

                  • @neezy: Cant remember sorry, was last year though around August?

      • Pacojet

    • I'm not going to disagree with you on the Slushi being the product I would prefer to have between the two (dont have a Slushi yet, but will definitely get one!) - but to be fair, they are completely different products / technology, for different uses (with some amount of overlap, being frozen beverages).

If you are getting one just to make frozen-ish beverages, then yeah - you are likely to be better off with a Slushi. But you're probably not going to be making a pea granita in a Slushi, for example!

Different products for different purposes. (With some overlap, as mentioned.)

    • I reckon my Vitamix would give it a run for it's money in the loudest appliance competition.

      • +1

These sound as loud as an old school vacuum cleaner lol.

        • How long does it take to make ice cream. If it’s only like 1 minute or so I could probably live with the noise

  • $279 appliances online with code

    • Which code?

      • Newsletter. They raised the price. They change prices every day if not in a hurry. They let you pick delivery day also.

    • The NC501 is cheaper than the NC300 on Appliance Online 🤷🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

  • -2

Ninja? Left with promotion emails after cancelling my order. I thought they were genuine loll.

  • -3

    No thanks ninja

  • -2

I had one and sold it soon after. Turns out it was a nightmare for the person who purchased it off me on market place. The unit was defective and caught fire! Nevertheless I felt the machine blade actually cut into the plastic of the tubs which low and behold .. we were probably ingesting. Not super scared of microplastics but I think it was a fault in the overall design of the product. Had fun while it lasted but got sick of eating ice cream!

    • They weren't prepping it properly then. The blade gets thrown off if the top isn't level.

      • Yeah exactly, when you freeze these they get a bump in the middle, it says to level this off before using. User error.

        • +1

Apparently if you freeze with lid off it freezes level

  • +4

    caught fire!

A fire, at a Sea Parks?

  • +2

Love the Creami. Standard was $188 a few months ago

  • +1

NC501 has dropped in price again. I suspect the Swirl will be released soon here. Just wanted to say that somewhere.

    • Damn missed out on $13 savings.

Need to watch some comparison videos of the swirl. Someone said it's just a deluxe with soft serve accessory?

      • Lol, I'm still up due to cashback 😊

Yeah, Swirl is just an attachment pretty sure. Prob not worth it, but that all depends on the price difference between em.

Not sure if that's why the price is dropping, was just the first thing that came to mind.

I have a hookup ata store and usually get staff pricing which is way lower thn the sale price… it's now dropped lower thn what he could offer before 🫤

        • What cashback did you get? I don't think i got any with amazon.

Thanks for the info. Makes me happy with my price. Although not sure i would have got deluxe with the standard around $200 or less now

          • +1

@BlueJay87: Mine was $319. TopCashBack was capped at $50 so $269.

Everyday Rewards Marketplace, which was link to MyDeal, which buy direct from Ninja (not really important, just thought it was funny tracking it).

And because it's Woolies, I got a bunch of rewards points, so maybe another $10-$15 back too.

But yeah, when Harvey Norman are selling cheaper (currently $298) i felt a disturbance in the force 😬

  • Solid ozbargaining, good sir. Enjoy the ice cream!

    • Just checked again… MyDeal is now $294 with the BIG15 code 🤨

I haven't seen these kinda drops since the Nintendo Switch black friday sale in 2019 (which is when I finally created an OzBargain account and decided to contribute, lol)

There's been heaps of deals posted over the months. Like this one under 300 from january. Looks commonly discounted?

        • I stand firmly corrected thn 😆 cheers.

I guess it just felt like petrol prices. $319, thn $313, thn $309, now $298. The are sale prices (no cashback/discount codes) from same stores i was tracking within a few days. E.g. Appliances Oline has the 501 cheaper thn the 300 atm 🤯

But yeah, you're prob right. Seems it's been cheaper before 🙏🏾

          • @neezy: Maybe tarrifs having an effect as Chinese products losing US market?
