I know 1% may not be amazing but seems to be no purchase amount limit and could be handy for those who do not have access to Amazon discounted GC.

It does not apply to:
(i) purchases made from Amazon US, Amazon UK, Amazon Japan, or Amazon Germany on Amazon.com.au even if fulfilled by Amazon AU;
(ii) alcohol;
(iii) gift cards;
(iv) digital purchases such as e-books and subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible;
(v) postage or delivery rates; or
(vi) Amazon Global Store export orders to be shipped to a New Zealand delivery address.

    handy for those who do not have access to Amazon discounted GC.

    Good intentions with this post, but everyone has access to them at a higher rate

    a) Macquarie 3% off
    b) Cashrewards 2%
    c) Shopback 1.5%
    d) etc

    • Can also double dip, by then using tcb as they pay cashback when using amazon credit.

      Just ensure you have loaded the card to your account first.

      • Also a reminder to check other cashback sites first and see if they have a better deal. Screenshot it, use TCB, and apply for a cashback match through them with that screenshot as evidence.

    Not a fan of the PayTo platform, favours the merchant over the customer, lacks the chargeback protections provided by card payments and PayPal

    • -1

      Amazon's customer service is always top tier so this isn't an issue. Plus, if you did do a chargeback with Amazon without contacting them first you'll be permanently banned (account blocked).

    1% discount is just pissy. As someone mentioned, it's multiples cheaper to buy Amazon GCs, and then just keep the cash until your credit card is due, and also accumulate rewards points on the card purchase.

    how did this get so many upvotes?
    i didn't realise there were so many cashed up, lazy people here.

    45 upvotes, really?

  • Payto seems like a good option for people who are tired of being ripped off by credit card companies. Much lower transaction fees. Hope this takes off

  • Not a deal, as almost all platforms offer better discount than this.

  • Read through PayTo looks good for sellers not so great for buyers

    • -3

      If buyers get the option of zero surcharge or discount like Amazon it is good.

      • Wrong. Buyer protection pretty much doesn’t exist…

        • -2

          Well at least give people the option of refunded surcharge. If you want to pay the surcharge do it but 99 % of the time that is wasted money. Eg Amazon has excellent customer service. Any big retailers are not going to scam you. Bills etc. you are paying for buyer protection when you don't need it

          • @TRRR: I beg to differ. I’ve had a $800 Lego set go missing from Amazon. They outsourced the delivery to another company and it took MONTHS to get refunded.

            • -2

              @Repstar: You mustn't have contacted Amazon within the specified time frame. I've always had any refunds issued within 3 days with Amazon.

  • Your missing the point. Why not give people the option of no credit card fees. What if your buying food at Coles, should we have to pay for buyer protection or should people have the option of 1.5% discount. Credit card companies have been making billions in profits because they essentially have a duopoly and hide their fees by billing sellers.

    • Without credit card surcharges the points game would be gone though. No more sign up bonuses too.

  • It seems like 1% isn't a big deal.

    • Still 1% less than what you'd pay (exc. paying with gift cards) regularly.

  • 1% ? Common you gotta be kidding me Amazon

  • Thanks OP!
