So it looks like TPG finally got a rebrand and new pricing for their NBN plans for 6months.

Never used them so don't know what they're like.

They do provide dynamic ip though and not CGnat

Only new customers

If you ever want to leave there is a 30 day notice period.

Any love for the existing customers?

    • +2

I was about to ask same :(
My plan charge is changing - NBN Cable 50 for $84.99/mth from $79.99/mth

      • +1

Swap provider. Leaptel has 100/20 $79.99/m for 12 months.

        • +2

And should be going to 500/50 in Sept/October for the same price once the NBN push their wholesale plan change through.

Leaptel also honour their discount if you change plans up or down, and show you on the plan change page how long your discount lasts.

        • Ive had nothing but issues with Leaptel constant drop outs of online games and teams when wfh drops almost every call, previously with Optus and Superloop 0 issues

          • @solidussnake: Most don't have any problems using Leaptel.

Have you used Leaptel since they swapped to Superloop's backhaul in Nov 2024?

      • Been using TPG 50/20 for years since the $60/month. Slowly increasing over the years. But this jump to $85 is too much. I called TPG to match the price for Spintel 100/20. They refused I gave them the 30 days notice. I am going to try Spintel even with the bad reviews.

    • My brother called TPG up and asked, and got offered $15 off every month for a year

    • +1

@fatice… No provider shows any love for their existing customers… Which sucks big time… I don't want to jump from provider to provider but have no choice

      • Let them know you're intending to leave, they should offer you something. Push hard though, don't bite at their first offer and make sure you've found a better deal elsewhere so they know you're not fluffing.

      • +1

Tpg just. Everything I've called they assist. I've been with them for 13+years though.
They have been increasing prices though for existing
I just don't know who to change to as generally connection with tpg is perfect.

        • Same! Been with TPG for 13 years+

Service has been solid, perfect NBN50 speeds, the odd maintenance downtime with comms sent weeks beforehand.
No complaints about their NBN service!

However, NBN50 moved from $65 to $85 in just a few years.

If they can offer new customers NBN100 for $65 they should have offered it to long term customers.

Only when I called to cancel that they offered to match…
          Too little to late.

  • How much for static IP?

    • -2

you don't need to they are sticky ip, unless you change your hardware it will keep the ip address

      • so tpg doesn't use cgnat?

      • They do not keep the same ip for the hardware.
They rotate the IP at least when you reboot NTD and probably can rotate during the day.

Its a puiblic IP, not behind CGNAT (at least for FTTP)

    • Not available.

    • @Tacooo what's your use case for a static IP ?

I use no-ip for a dynamicip.no-ip.com domain which I point my main server.domain.com domain to with a CNAME record.

The result is that server.domain com always points to dynamicip.no-ip.com which always points to my current IP. When my IP changes then my router tells no-ip and the record instantly updates.

External traffic to my servers just needs to go directly to directly to server.domain.com without knowing my IP.

      • I run servers that can't have interruptions on them from a random IP change. I'll stick with Launtel and their free static public IP.

  • this 6 month bs really shits me. Southern Phone giving out 12 months <3

    • weird provider. cannot find my inner city melb address.

    • +1

Southern Phone is absolute sweaty balls though. It's worth paying for a "real" provider with onshore support.

      • its been fantastic for the past 4 months.

(profanity) 30 day notice… stop this shit.

  • +11

Trust me stay away from TPG….you have been warned.

    • what are the problems?

      • +3

Speed, ping, dropouts, price beet guarantee. I was with them less than 7 days with a complaint after complaint unanswered. I had to go to the telecommunications ombudsman to sort it out it got that bad.

    • +3

      Total Pain in the Groin.

    • +2

Yep, 100% agreed. Had problems with my in-laws connection and I believe I spoke to about 15 different “support” staff, each with a different set of troubleshooting methods, none of whom had any interest in what I’d already done. Took weeks until we just pulled the plug on them. Of course even then they fiddled with our account so it was bizarrely hard to port out.

I've had no issues with TPG except trying to leave, I gave 30 days notice, they kept billing me for months, I contacted them, they claimed I never cancelled my account, account showed no usage for months, they still wouldn't budge and sent debt collecters after me. Ended up closing the bank account they were drawing from, contacted the ombudsman, still had a sh*tfight and still ended up out of pocket for about 3 months worth of fees.

If you plan to leave, record the phone call, names, dates, times everything. If you can do it in writing as well, even better. The 30 days notice is in their T&Cs so you can't avoid it, but it is total garbage in this day and age. IMO should be able to churn out, when out of contract, with no penalty.

Others have said churn out with a new provider to help make sure your TPG plan is cancelled, which might work (still be pinged 30 days in fees though). Also, hate this lazy tax B.S., deal for new customers only, while they keep raising prices for existing customers.

    Just my 2c

    • sorry to hear that. dont need this sit. I was with swoop looking for a new provider. They were truly exceptional in their service.
I logged a ticket on the website. I received a call back within a minute who explained everything to me very clearly. No cancellation notice required.
Explained how much more of the offer days were left and suggested to put in the cancellation order for a day before the offer ends etc.
Very impressive. Almost made me wanna stay.

  • Yeah TPG are raising the prices!

Just sharing my experience to hopefully save others the trouble.

I had an internet outage with TPG that lasted over 3 weeks, with no estimated time for resolution the entire time. Every time I called, I was passed to a different person who clearly hadn’t read any of the previous notes, so I had to repeat the same story again and again.

I ended up wasting over 6 hours on the phone across three weeks. At one point, a rep even ended the call by saying, “Thanks for calling iiNet.”

In the end, I gave up, cancelled the service, and switched to Telstra, which worked immediately. I’ve also submitted a complaint to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, and that investigation is still ongoing.

If you’re thinking of signing up with TPG, I’d seriously recommend looking elsewhere. It’s just not worth the stress.

super helpful info thanks for sharing

  • $74.99 ordinary price for 12 down speed oh ho ho big guy now yah TPG🙄

  • Don't touch this if you are anywhere near north of adelaide, they are constantly going off line becuase their backhaul lines fail and they take days to fix blaiming them being in rail corridors and having to wait for permission to get in and fix things.

  • If you're looking for 100/20, Mate is $60 for the first 6 months. Note that the TPG price guarantee is "We’ll beat any price from an Eligible Provider over your first 12 months" but it still works out cheaper:
    TPG: $959.88
    Mate: $900

"Eligible provider" = "Aussie Broadband, Belong, Dodo, Exetel, Optus, Superloop, Tangerine and Telstra", so the price guarantee is pretty much worthless anyway.

    • "the price guarantee is pretty much worthless anyway"

      Why?

Superloop and Exetel are fairly cheap from what I have seen.
      Haven't checked Belong or Dodo.

  • At any stage are we going to get a plan with with better upload rate and "good price"? I mean 1000 to 50 is ridiculous. I went overseas and VPNed back home and it was barely alright to watch soccer.

  • Does any other ISP have a matching policy ? Or is this a TPG only thing.
