      wtf? a backorder on Vegemite????

  • i believe cheaper then the 950g buckets at Costco

S&S not showing as an option for me and says ships within 1-2 months?

How on earth do you get through 380g of vegemite? I don't eat it, but when I did, a thin smear, probably less than half a gram on buttered toast was enough to get the vegemite flavor without overdoing it. After 2 years there was like 80% left in the jar.

    • +5

By the spoonful. Doesn't need butter on toast either. Gotta do it straight for maximum flavour, especially now that it's weaker than it used to be.

      • Amen!!!!

we buy 950g buckets, two months tops.

      • Never seen one that big, are you sure about that size?

Haha, looks like not eating enough Vegemite is enough to get me negged.

        • Definitely that size from Costco. Much easier to extract the dregs from the Costco buckets vs the glass jars from ColesWorth.

now you have! IIRC it's ~$13.50
the kids & I spread it on everything, pancakes, scones, hit cross buns, toast. my young fella eats it with mayo 🤣

I had an American mate like you He suggested they use it in prison, your crime determined the size of the jar and you weren't allowed out until it was empty…. apparently that's why we're all convicts, only harden criminals would eat it :-)

          • @M00Cow: I don't mind the taste, I just think it tastes better spread thinly on buttered toast.

    • Maybe there is more than 1 person in the house eating Vegemite.

Strewth. If this isn't the most un-Australian thing I've read all day…

    • I could never make a good tasting gravy until I was out of beef stock and put in two teaspoons of Vegimite
Paul Kelly and Rita would have been proud

Very *issed off due to insufficient quantity for S&S
    What the hell Amazon!

it was posted nearly 2.5hrs before you commented….. you snooze..

      • Well, if Coles or Woolworths can be better organised, with sufficient stock in-store, so can Amazon.
So your "you snooze, you lose" statement is not a relevant statement.
I do understand what you say, but if my basket has an item, then Amazon could do the courtesy to at least try to supply it at that and warn before it is unavailable at that price.

Unless Amazon can really come to the party, they need to do better, that is my argument.

I am surprised as well, with how quick I go through Vegemite, but I do use it on my cat, as an appetite stimulant/health thing, so it does go down quicker.

        • Must be so fun having a job dealing with customer service/the general public…

          100% agree.
People here just like Amazon for whatever reason even if they have barely enough stock to qualify for a proper deal, like this one.

        • waa waa waa

      • it was already not showing for S&S for me 2 hours ago

  • buying mine this week on the flybuys $50 spend week
gives me an effective 25% discount

Stopped buying vegemite from amazon, always seemed to get unlucky with expiry dates much much shorter than the shops.

    • +3

As if the expiry date means anything for vegemite, that shit never goes off.

      • Not to mention that if it's still in your pantry long enough to worry about the expiry date, then you're doing it wrong!

      • It can harden and less spreadable so yes, it can go off. Wouldn't happen for a year or 3 no doubt.

  • Bega Vegemite Salt Reduced | 400g $7.50

Everyday price at Coles and tastes basically the same.
3.5c more per gram and healthier.

  • rather have mity mite , aussie made and owned and cheaper
