  • You should really put that it's a refurbished unit in the title.

  • 8th Generation

    • Yes

It's not the CPU, its the user!

i5-8250u - This is a fairly old CPU that is no longer competitive with newer CPUs.

    • +18

$290 for the whole thing isn't really competitive with newer models either.

    • You gotta be realistic, can't expect it to compete with anything new given the price. Brand new these things run 2k~

      • +1

these would have been like 15-1600

        • Low to mid $1k.

  • +7

Battery condition needs to be defined.
But the price is a bit high for an 8th gen cpu.

    • +1

Yeah i agreed. I'm using a latitude 5400 with similar specs purchased years ago for 250. They seem to be getting dearer, not cheaper.

    • especially if the battery if bloated.

  • +2

while it was a good laptop it's not $290 worth, seriously a 5400 for $400 you pick these up in bulk lot's under $100 a unit, even if it was absolutely mint new battery etc but maybe some will pay that

  • +1

    turns back to clock
This Intel 8250u was a late-2017/early-2018 CPU, this would've been the mainstream CPU while everybody was working from home

buyer beware, battery health is worth keeping a close eye on
factory default battery was just 3-cell 42Whr, not even a 4-cell

    • But they are powerbank-friendly.

  • This is a good deal. Company seems to have strong refurbishment processes too. This company is good to deal with. I haven't seen a better price for something similar.

lol https://computerandlaptopsales.com.au/apple-macbook-a1534-20… how deceptive. Technically it is an m3 … just not that one you want (Intel Core m3)

  • +1

Spend another $50 and get an 11th gen with better gpu

  • Grade?

    • A Grade

      • +1

What does A-Grade mean? I cant find any details on your site…

A-Grade refurbished suggests they don't get any better, new battery and such?

        • Yes can you confirm exactly what A-Grade means OP?

  • +3

    1920 x 1080 ? I dont think so.

    • +3

Not sure why people are down voting you for pointing out this error…

Pretty sure this is only 1366 x 768…

  • Ok price for last year now we are almost mid 2025 so should be under 250

    • Yeah, I paid $199 for an A grade 7390 last year, same specs, but bigger screen.

I'd check with the seller here about the screen resolution, most of these 7290's were 1366x768

I used this laptop for work four years ago, and the battery life was terrible. The CPU fan constantly ran at full speed, blasting hot air. Don’t set your expectations too high—you've been warned!

  • Any better deals for the HP ZBook Firefly 14 G7?

  • -1

Can you make it $300 instead so we can use it for tax write-off. 😂

    • You can do that with $290 too.

      • Yes sorry you are right…just checked, the items below $300 can claim an immediate deduction within the first year so this deal is great.

I think I was confusing it with TRS.

  • and TRS, perhaps?

    • +1

Min $300 bill for trs so buy more than one.

  • +2

I still have a Dell XPS laptop with almost identical specs, i5 8th gen CPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, USB-C port,
so almost identical stats to this and it still performs fantastically. I don't have any issues with any programs, downloads, data transfer, internet speed or RAM issues,
infact I upgraded the RAM to 16GB and noticed exactly no difference except for noticing that I had about $100 less in my wallet.
I can even connect my external graphics card and play games like Forza Horizon 5 on it.
Don't get sucked into the hype that you need the latest and greatest. You may need it and if that's the case then don't buy this.
But if it's mainly word processing, online work/fun, viewing/editing photos then this laptop can keep up with the latest computers.

I would say that alot of peoples' bad experience from 8th gen Intel CPUs come down to they would have used it at work and it couldn't handle the heavy corporate spyware running on it but as you noticed, if you use it at home without all of that it's perfectly serviceable. I even have a 3rd gen Ivy Bridge laptop that once I put an SSD in it with Linux, is actually perfectly usable for non-gaming tasks. The fact of the matter is that single threaded performance hasn't exactly jumped to multiple times of what we had 10 years ago (not exactly the degree of gains you had in the 90's)

  • Hi op how many free ram slots does this have?

  • +1

comes with only 1 RAM slots
