Malaysia for ~$400 for 2 nights

    • How does one get this ? do you have to call them?

      • +5

You need to go back in time to before they raised their prices. The 2025 price for new members is MYR1699 or around $617.

Just checked as well… got excited for a minute but not to be!
Looks like the Philippines is still the cheapest at under $300 for the Explorer.

    • I recently signed up via the Philippines which was the cheapest at the time,
$400 for 2 nights is good, might sign up again :)

      • i can see explorer for PHP10300 which is just under $300 aud. with 1x complimentary night stay. how do you get 2 nights?

        • +2

2 nights are not available in the Philippines. I was responding to the post about Malaysia which do have a membership option offering 2 nights. Indonesia and Singapore also offer memberships with the 2 nights but are they not cheap.

        • So signing up via VPN for the Philippines won't limit booking or using anywhere in the world? I'm new to ALL, anyone can point the differences in memberships a bit clearer please?

      • I'm trying to sign up via the Philippines with a VPN but keeping getting 'payment declined - rejected by bank' on payment page. Anyone have any tips? I've tried multiple credit/ debit cards that are usually fine for international.

    • for everyone negging, I renewed mine just 1 week ago.
They even include gold status now.

Just call the MY phone number

    20% off… πŸ˜‰

    • yep just updated it πŸ‘

  • upto 50% off food

What do you have to do to get the full discount? Can you include more details in your post please?

    • Two people need to dine to get a 50% discount on the food component. Being a hotel restaurant, prices may be higher than usual. Some restaurants may choose to offer a smaller discount at their discretion or reject discounts for diners not staying at the hotel. Its best to ask the staff member if you can get the discount before you sit at the table.

Also, they don’t do this on public holiday weekends. We got stung in Darwin recently with no discounts.

    • quite a few places are downgrading it to 25% off the total no matter how many dining, rather than 50% off for 2, so keep that in mind

      • +1

        Where have you experienced this?

        • First I’ve heard too

        • Sofitel Fiji downgraded in around April last year, and Porter House in Sydney when I stayed early Feb, they downgraded in Nov last year….so even if one you book has it when you book, no guarantees it will stay that way by the time you stay

  • New accounts it looks, not renewals. Also, has this gone up? Swore it was $399 last year without discount

    • The sign up form does look like it is for new members but I was able to get all the way to the payment page using the same name and email details of an expired membership.

    • My membership just expired and I had no trouble.

A lot of the restaurants mark up their initial menu prices to factor in that most people who dine in their restaurants have Accor Plus cards. There are some decent restaurants in Sydney. The Ternary in Darling Harbour is pretty decent. I've eaten at Birdie at Novotel Sydney City Centre which is ok too. They charge $20 for garlic bread lol

    • Pullman Sydney Airport (Mascot) has the best cheese garlic bread you can find and it can feed two people πŸ˜ƒ

  • You'll get 20 Accor Status Nights with this but it doesn't stack with the Voyageur (20 Status Nights) and IBIS Membership (10 Status Nights). Just to let people know.

    • Does stack with the china one. Useful if you plan to go hong Kong or mainland China. Not too many options but the rate is pretty competitive for Hong Kong at least.

Is the only real add on for the Discovery Membership a cruise voucher or is there something I'm missing?

  • +8

wish they offer $199 again like last year

    • +1

yes, they normally have 50% off once a year, but so far only this that I know of this year

  • If you're wondering if Discovery is worth it - TLDR: Yes most likely, but only if you plan to cruise somewhere in the world in the next 12 months on cruiselines that don't directly discount much (ie. Celebrity, RCI, Princess etc).

It comes with a Buy-One-Get-One-Half-Off certificate that can offer enormous savings. I just used it to save over $2500 off the listed price (direct from the cruise line and other agencies) for a Princess Mediterranean cruise. Most cruises seem to be eligible to use this voucher.
The big downside is that they are a travel agent, with a very useless overseas call centre that you have to use to make the booking and make any changes. They also apply a $275pp cancellation/rebooking fee. So again, it's a great deal if you're very confident you plan to use it with a low chance of changing plans.

The "Discovery Dollars" thing, is ok, but not significant enough to justify the additional hassle. Other benefits are also pretty mid.

  • can anyone see when this deal expires??

    • It doesn't seem to show one, and it isn't advertised on the website directly from what I could tell so it could be a referral deal or something similar

  • It's very hard to use the free stay night for the dates you want. Even if the hotel has availability, the free stay may not apply. I challenged Accor Plus about this and was told that each hotel has a limited number of rooms for Accor Plus. Note that Accor and Accor Plus are different entitles with different support. When asked where I could find info about how many rooms each hotel has for Accor Plus, they were unable to disclose that info.
I ended up wasting my "free stay".

    • +1

In my experience (been an Accor Plus member for 10+ years and never wasted a free stay) it's a bit like using frequent flyer points for premium seats… you need to plan in advance.

I normally use my free night for Sofitel stays that are worth over $300 - eg I'll be using it for Sofitel Sydney next month during Vivid - and I booked that back in February, obviously no chance to find a free room if I was booking now. If you search for availability 12 months out you'll be able to find plenty of rooms at Australia's top hotels (eg Sofitel Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Noosa) and the good news is if you plans change you can cancel your reservation and the free night goes back to your account.

  • Renewed with malaysia at about $420 early april. Gave 30 status points (2 stay nights). Although cust service advised this membership will no longer be available next year

  • tried to log in to buy membership just now and it's goneski :(

  • Damn, I was going to jump on this in the next few days, looks like I missed the boat
