Products may have a faulty USB Port or ethernet port

    That's a no from me then…

    What the these look rooted

    • +5

There's something going on with the 5 series notebooks in the silver colour at the moment. When if companies have their asset tags on the items, when you go to remove them, it peels the paint off.

The paint's so thin you can scrape it off with your fingernail.

      • Maybe by design

        • +1

Maybe, it reminds me of the Toyota paint peel issue.

Can confirm, the latest paintwork on Dells have been assigned to be removable under 'reasonable stress' which means they can get scratched from a stern look.

This is for warranty classification purposes (i.e. "that looks like customer induced damage") so Dell can charge for repairs, etc.

Dell cheaped out, instead of them having the case made in the colour they cheaply painted black plastic & yes it comes off very easily, probably saved them a few dollars per machine. Have seen people take a scotch pad to them & make the case a dull black

wish i did that to my work laptop before returning it…

          • @xhanatos: How to fix:

            Step 1: Be millennial/GenZ/GenAlpha.
            Step 2: Have no taste.
            Step 3: Do this https://eg.jumia.is/unsafe/fit-in/680x680/filters:fill(white)/product/02/461169/1.jpg?4407

Have these at work. Got a new one. Within two days the lid was peeled in a few places from touching the zipper going in and out of the laptop bag.

With all jew respect, Michael is just maximising his profit margins down to the cents.

  • Looking for similar to the Dynabook deal yesterday. Hoping to spend less than 400 for a business grade laptop that's min 11th gen. Not too keen on B grade. Any chance for a deal…don't care if it's dell, lenovo, hp etc

    Thanks

edit: the laptop in this deal is perfect if it wasnt so thrashed (ill be using it in front of a customer so it needs to "look" tidy.

Just going to put it out in the universe. Skins for these are available and are pretty cheap.

Again, the issue is mainly related to the top cover and bottom.

  • OP assume this is not a touchscreen?

    • The acers are.

    • +2

      Doubtful.

Even the case is not touchproof at this point.

    • 15.6” FHD WVA (1920 x 1080) Anti-Glare (16:9) WLED, 220 nits, non-touch, Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer LCD Back

Wish companies had more realistic grading. Just reading B grade, I would think oh yea, not bad…until you read the battery health and see the photos.

  • +2

Fyi, soldered 8GB on the Acer. Not upgradable.

    • device may have BIOS lock is there any way to remove that.

      • +1

The two specific units above, do not have BIOS passwords.

  • Still quietly hoping one day to see more Quadro units. I wouldn't mind some huge ram GPUs since I've been stuffing around with locally running LLMs

    • BIGGGG Export market for high RAM Quadro GPUs.

      • Not too surprising I guess.

How come these additional photos or info aren’t on the eBay listing for those that don’t see it from ozB?

  • +2
