$1,619 vs $2,349 - why not?

If you want the discounted Yoga 14.5" Sleeve addon, you can do the Build your own PC under the Core Ultra 5 model above (spec it to Ultra 7 for the same price).

    Gen 9 vs Gen 10

    • +3

They're both Gen 9 models and same CPU

      • I meant why buy the gen 9 when there is gen 10

        • cheaper although i think the amd model would be better

          • @maimai: It's not much cheaper. I got a much better spec gen 10 for only a tiny bit more recently.

    • HODL

      • Same, next month bet more deals coming

I would suggest that this AMD Gen 10 in the outlet is a much better deal at $1322 for the same spec level (Ryzen 7 350, 32GB RAM, 1 TB SSD):

      Oooofffttt…

This or an M3/4 Air… HMMMM - I don't need the storage, and 16GB is fine for me too..

Nevermind - out of stock if you try to add it heh

      Rather

      With 14" 2.8K (2880 x 1800), OLED, Glare, Non-Touch, HDR 1000 True Black, 100%DCI-P3, 1100 nits (HDR Peak)/500 nits (SDR Typical), 120Hz over an outdated 60hz display.

For $40 more than OP's deal.

      • Can get a little cheaper in the Edu store. Got it in my cart and still thinking about it!

      • looks like a good deal. any reasons not to get this?

I'm looking to upgrade from my this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756487

        Would it be worth it?

        Any advice is much appreciated.

      • Bit the bullet and went for this one (Yoga Slim 7, AMD Ryzen™ AI 7 350 Processor, OLED, non-touch, 1TB + 32GB). Upgraded to 2 year onsite ($15) + 2 year battery cover ($18) and was able to use a 5% new user code.

Net price $1607.47. Plus possible 4% cashback (not guaranteed because of the promo code).

I will be able to TRS soon too.

        • Ordered the same spec as you 2 weeks ago for $1576. Tracked by TopCashback for $236 and then GST-back via TRS. However booting the notebook, the trackpad was faulty and they gave me a zillion steps to try. In the end WIndows wont boot now and goes into an infinite loop where i Have to supply bitlocker ID every single time. Lenovo are taking it back and they were really good with their service in that they offered a refund, replacement or repair.

I've seem several posts about the trackpad quality. hope yours is a lot better!

          • @taoX: That sounds really bad.

Mine is due for delivery today. Has taken ages to arrive. Will check out the trackpad as a priority.

Which option did you pick? I see its back up to $2500 now.

            • @gadgetguy: Got mine yesterday afternoon, thankfully no trackpad issues. The machine is crazy fast and the blue colouring is a thing of beauty.

    • This would be perfect for what I want if it was just a little bigger…

      15-16 inch would be ideal

      • Then need to wait for Aura Edition 15.3" deals

        • Yeah that's another one I've been looking at. Although the non-touch screen and colour of this one is nice. But hopefully we get the Gen 10 aura in blue

Buying Intel these days is a very unpopular decision.

    • Have been out of the loop on procedures for a while. Why is that Intel are not popular anymore? Are this just all about the brand, or is it something else?

      • With the chip degradation issue a couple years back and their chips generally being higher power usage for less performance than AMD, AMD has been the safer bet for a while now. AMDs integrated graphics has also gotten really good lately, but I feel like I heard Intel made some improvements there too

        • Thanks for that info!

      • +1

Anyone who says Intel is bad is not keeping up. Their current processors are good again. Although this is last year's model.

        • Thanks. I haven't been keeping up for years. Before, it was all Intel and AMD was like the aliexpress version of processors. Then i stopped building and upgrading my PCs and lost track of progress. Ive heard good things now from AMD, but processors have so many specs now (compared to years ago were only MHz were important) that's it's hard to compare them. I just bought a Gen 10 Lenovo with an ultra 9 processor, so hopefully it'll be ok for a long time :)

    • most people buying laptops dont care, when will you understand this?

      • why do you care?

        • why do you care what people buy?

          • @Freestyle: I like technology, and for over two decades, I have studied how certain manufacturers' decisions affect people's buying decisions. For example, AMD hasn't supported Thunderbolt 3 for quite some time, and despite strong performance, AMD laptop sales were at the bottom level. In 2022 when they added USB 4 to laptops, their sales skyrocketed.

Intel still has a powerful position in the laptop market, but only because, as you said, most laptop buyers (80%) don't care about technology.

            • -1

@alpln: they dont care because it makes little difference

This or 33 $49 kmart ice cream makers?

    • +1

buy 33x kmart ice cream, make ice cream, sell those ice cream, save and buy this laptop!

      • +2

Can I suggest to replace one ice cream maker with one deep fryer and make and sell deep fried ice cream? Better suited to the current season.

  • This vs the Surface Pro?

  • Thanks mate - was about to buy the HP Zbook equivalent specs for $2200 using eBay code… saved $600 pretty much

  • Anyone who bought a Lenovo - how long before the Rewards in your account move from Pending to available?

I've got $35 at "Pending" and I want to buy a sleeve for the laptop with them.
