Codes won't stack with this one.
just found out :( …
What so no deal @ A$223?
~A$223 is without codes. AUFS16 doesn't stack.
Do you have a recommendation for a good motherboard to go with this?
Edit: Found them in your other post. Thanks!

https://www.centrecom.com.au/gigabyte-b650-aorus-elite-ax-v2…Gigabyte doesn't have any slow windows boot issues. No need to ever touch memory context restore in the bios.. "Enabling this can cause bsod errors"
Gigabyte's latest bios enabled PCIe 5.0 for the GPU slot on all Gigabyte B650 AORUS boards bringing them inline with the more expensive B850 boardsThe 12+2+2 Power stages on these boards should be ready for Zen6
Thank you, very helpful.
@dextertheboygenius: There are cheaper more feature packed boards out there but i would never want to mess around with trying to fix those 1+ minute boot times by messing with memory context restore. Its the suggested fix for MSI, ASrock and ASUS boards.
Gigabyte's cheap boards are trash BTW :)
Also you can get white version of the AORUS boards above. They are called ICE
@vid_ghost: Gigabyte still uses memory context restore, it just moves the setting to a different place. Gigabyte may have set it to on by default. Moving that option away from where you usually find standard memory option does help people from messing around with it.
It is better to let people know the first time you boot a brand new AM5 system (or an Intel system with DDR5) that's DIY, be prepared to wait for quite some time (30+ seconds) if you go for DDR5-6000 or higher. Memory context restore requires at least 1 memory training (and every time you upgrade / replace the memory modules, a re-training will take place).
Also, try to get SK Hynix A-die or M-die RAM modules. If you go for cheaper alternatives, there is a possibility memory context restore will lead to blue screen.
@netsurfer: I already know Gigabyte has memory context restore but its not on by default and not needed for under 1 minute boot times like other brands boards.
Also not all motherboards from other brands have slow boot time issues ( luck of the draw ) but at least with the Gigabyte AORUS boards you can be sure its under 30 seconds without changing any bios settings apart from enabling AMD Expo to get DDR5 6000
@vid_ghost: I've read comments on the Web where people need to turn it on (on Gigabyte boards) to speed up the boot time.
Also, it is memory frequency dependent as well. If you use DDR5 4800 or 5200, on any motherboard, even with memory context off, the boot up is reasonably quick (because the training time is fast).
@netsurfer: Memory training on Gigabyte AORUS is around 1 minute 30 seconds on first time build or whenever you do a bios update.
Turning on Epxo is another 40 seconds of Memory trainingAfter that its under 30 seconds ever time.. No Memory context restore needed.
I've been recommending Gigabyte AORUS to everyone i know and the latest person on a B850 Aorus was even using 6000MT/s Expo sticks with Samsung chips. Same outcome.
under 30 second windows boot up and Memory context restore is disabled.@vid_ghost: It still needs to memory train every time you change memory setting (i.e. after every BIOS update) and that can be a while. It's best to let people know that, rather than give the people the impression they will always get less than 30 seconds boot.
Normally, after a BIOS update, just set to Expo and re-train once. After BIOS update, the next boot is generally fast because the board is set to DDR5 4800 or 5200 (and the memory train at that speed is quite quick).
@netsurfer: True.
The issue is that some people with other brand AM5 boards have 1 minute + boot times every time they turn on thier PC's .. Thats just sad.
Enabling Memory context restore is the only way to fix it.@vid_ghost: Not true, that might be the case with really old BIOS version, but if so, you need to compare that to old Gigabyte BIOS. Old AM5 BIOS versions are pretty bad with memory training time, but they did improve a lot in newer versions.
I just tested on a non-Gigabyte board and sorry to disappoint you, that boot had some sort of memory re-train (because this PC hasn't been turned on for 3 weeks), the boot up time is less than 30 seconds (and that is to Windows 11 screen). If it actually does a memory context restore, BIOS portion of the boot took less than 2 seconds.
With my test result, I am considering turning memory context off on my board. However, I still like 2 seconds boot out of BIOS.
@netsurfer: I already said not all non-Gigabyte board have issues.
I've looked up motherboards from other brands that i was interested in and 2-3 month old reedit posts with latest bios and they are still needing Memory context restore to fix the slow boot. Turned me off those boards very quickly.
@vid_ghost: I've turned mine off and re-tested. Under 30 seconds consistently, DDR5-6000 CL30 EXPO SK Hynix A-die kit. I think it used to take much longer with older BIOSes (also I did find Samsung memory kits train faster, but they have inferior timings so quicker to train perhaps).
Furthermore, if I set them to run in DDR5-5200 or 5800 mode, the memory training speed is even faster (half the time even).
@netsurfer: My recommendation is turn memory context restore on for two reasons:
- It allows you to boot faster than AM4 (which uses DDR4, doesn't need memory re-training). Since it is AM5, you do want it to run faster than AM4 in every aspect as much as possible.
- If your system is unable to remain stable with memory context restore on, it means the memory settings are too aggressive (or the RAM modules don't work well with the motherboard, if you just run EXPO or XMP).
However, if you feel memory context restore is cheating, you can turn it off, but still make sure your system is stable enough with it turned on. If you bought the PC pre-built, then definitely test memory context restore works properly.
aiming to build a little rainy day fund for a cpu next year
Bought on the last deal. Hasn't arrived yet (or left Hong Kong according to the tracking number). Seems to be a few of us in the same boat.
I've bought from their store before (this exact seller) and it arrived and is a legit Ryzen 7700. It took about a week and a half to arrive for me. Hope you get yours soon, but I can confirm that they are legit.
My 7700 has been sitting on leaving origin country for 5 days now. Ordered May 12, 20:20 AEST.. My friend got his 7700 today from this same store. He ordered on 10th of may
Package leaving origin country/region.
May 19, 16:56 AESTAwaiting flight
May 16, 16:19 AESTYour package arrived at airport. Awaiting transit.
May 15, 19:51 AESTI ordered the 5700x that was posted at the same time as the 7700 deal. Same last update as you, May 19, package leaving origin country. Kind of hoping it will magically turn to out for delivery lol.
When my friend ordered he paid $265 before it went on sale 2 days later… He already has his new 7700 PC up and running. I dont think i will get my 7700 in 2 days. (to be inline with how long it took his one to arrive.)
We still haven't even got the clearing customs order update. He got that one before "out for delivery.
@vid_ghost: sounds about right. Ive ordered lots through ali, goes from being shipped from origin country to out for delivery within a day, dont be suprised if it shows up un-announced lol.
@banterbants I also ordered both this 7700 and the 5700x from last deal. Received the 5700x 8 days after. But this 7700 is still stuck in HK, day 12 now.
I’m sure it’ll arrive but weird seeing such an inconsistencies in postage times from the same seller.
Ordered a 7800x3d. And the status didn't update and showed up randomly one fine evening. They didn't use auspost for me, so tracking was extremely iffy.
It's not Amazon next day delivery and it's not AliExpress Choice with their delivery guarantees either. It's only been 10 business days and tracking shows that it's moving. Be patient.
I bought from the same store two days ago for $279. It's flying now.
Package leaving origin country/region.
May 23, 15:42 AEST
Thanks OP, ordered.
… Wat
I bought this cpu 2 years ago, it is pretty good especially for social media. File explorer is fast, internet is fast too. Boot up is quick around 30 seconds into Windows 10. It struggles with a lot of Internet tabs on Firefox but most computers do, if you use Internet Explorer from Windows, it get's fast again.
You are finding a 8/16 core CPU running at 3.8GHz is the bottleneck for browser tabs?!
Yeah 8/16 core means you can't do more than 24 tabs or your computer crashes
That's the right answer!!1
Sometimes but most of the time it's good and nearly runs everything as smooth as my 2022 Apple Macbook. It's still a very good CPU. But I mostly use my Macbook now for the smoothness.
Do you happen to have 8gb of ram?
I don't know. It cost me a lot of money 2 years ago. Don't get me wrong, not sure why people neg voted my comment, it still is a good processor.
Because you got ripped off with a fake cpu or you actually got a 7700k from intel
My CPU until recently was 7 years old and had no problem with maybe 30 tabs open at a time.
Maybe the negs are because people are not sure if you're trolling or you honestly think that "social media" needs a high power workstation?
This could be the only reason for a 7700 to struggle with multiple Firefox tabs, but even then, as mentioned below, I have 17 instances of Firefox, with most having at least 10 tabs, some more, some less and I'm only using 5.50GB total system mem used, in Win7 however.
Change your name to "I am a dreamer"
Mate, please stop, you have no idea what you're talking about.
No one, including I, have the time to respond to every illogical anecdote you've mentioned here, but I'll point out just one.
I'm still on an Intel 2600K (that I built in 2011), and I have 17 instances of Firefox, with most having at least 10 tabs, some more, some less.
Granted, not every tab is loaded, but my PC doesn't "struggle". If my PC doesn't struggle, then your 7700 shouldn't.
wow that is super old. but good to hear it works ok
Sandy Bridge is timeless. My wife's PC is using a 2500k @ 4.2GHz for light gaming and regular office use - no issues. Definitely Intel's golden era.
@Dollar Dreamer
Your comment is 100% bullshiet!
I just tried it on my 7700 I got from this seller a month ago!
Opened 20 tabs in chrome, different website and 6 different youtube videos playing all AT ONCE!
under 10% cpu usage
30-40watts cpu usage
cpu clocks range from 3.3ghz to 4.8ghz max i saw 5.1 ghz for a secondYou either got a fake cpu (as in a lower older cpu with 7700 am5 written on it or you got an intel 7700k cpu and you have no clue about pcs and cpu
Remove your comment because it makes you look stupid and spreading misinformation!
I can take a video of my system and post it on youtube if anyone thinks my claims are false!
Maybe you are right but still compared to my 3 year old Macbook, it feels less snappy. Could be a ram issue as someone mentioned but i paid nearly $2000 for it 2 years ago so Ram should be enough.
Download a free program called "cpu z" and post a screenshot of the first 5 tabs
"cpu"
"mainbooard"
"memory"
"spd"
"graphics"I can tell you what is wrong if you post a screen of each of those in the program
Just had my 9700X delivered from aliexpress. Was excellent delivery time!
ordered a 7500f for $200 inc cashback last week - feels bad :(
Should have 90 day returns right?
dont know how change of mind returns work honestly - scared to send it back and end up out of pocket - any idea? bought from sz cpu
Has 90 day free returns, I personally haven't dealt with these CPU stores though, I have returned a similarly priced choice item no problems with AliExpress before. They just sent free postage label, although I tried returning a cheap item recently and they were going to refund postage and item once received . Since this isn't a choice item you will have to pay postage then supposedly get all refunded.
@zachhambo: ive heard sellers can easily just say they didnt receive it or whatever - im just not too confident about it in general - will just sell it on marketplace or something later on when the 7500f is struggling i guess
@Securityclearance: Yes that is probably the best idea, I have seen these 7700s sell for $300 on eBay.
@zachhambo: i thought about just selling it as soon as it arrives but dont want to deal with headache of testing and then waiting/swapping again or headache of dealing with a buyer saying its not working if i sell it sealed
@zachhambo: fingers crossed - stupid me isnt even excited for a cpu OTW if i see a better deal on ozb afterwards lol
@Securityclearance: i saw ur mobo comment in the other post https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/motherboards/amd-socket-… i was considering the msi too but no USB C on rear io just buggered me off lol
@Securityclearance: Ha true, can get 3 adapter's for $12 though. Gigabyte aorus one does only have 1 USB C port. What one are you looking at?
@zachhambo: https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/motherboards/amd-socket-… just got this for 169 - kinda cheaped out as much as i could within reason lol
@Securityclearance: Yes. I'm sure there are some bad sellers but if you bought from a 'choice' store I wouldn't be worried.
@greatlamp: Yes, SZCPU and most other CPU ones aren't Choice however, but they are "certified brands"
The 7500f has one of the lowest power draw's of all AM5 CPU's that come with full PCIE 5.0 lanes.
I think only the 7800X3D beats it because of its low clock speeds and binned 8 core server grade low power 8 core dies
Thanks OP, bought one. Was tracking prices since the last deal below $220, but I can’t seem to find this if I search for 7700 on the app and sort by price for some reason. Lowest price that came up was US$156.90 from a different seller. Any tricks to find deals like this?
I have no idea, I just randomly checked one more time before I was going for the 156 one then saw this. It did show up when searching on lowest price though. Edit: interesting it doesn't show up in the app.
i had to scroll through the sellers. doesn't work if i arrange by price.
Bought one. Thanks OP.
Thinking of getting this B650M board for $135 - Gigabyte B650M Gaming WiFi Motherboard, B650 Chipset, AMD AM5, mATX, DDR5
https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0D5NM5184/ref=ewc_pr_i…
Can anyone advise if this is a good board matching 7700?Good price, however that motherboard only has 1 SSD M.2 storage slot and doesnt allow PBO if you want to undervolt the CPU. It also cannot run high power chips without overheating which indicates poorer VRM design and may limit potential future upgrades. I would get a slightly more expensive model perhaps from centrecom with $10 discount atm. I'm personally getting https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-pro-b650m-a-wifi-am5-matx-d… but you can get MSI gaming for $160
It's capable for default but it is actually A620 because its BIOS doesn't support functions for B650 chipset, which means CPU overclocking is not available. 7700 has some overclocking potential so it will be some loss using this mobo. However, the price has been dropped so it can be considered as a choice if your budget is quite limited. If you play FPS games or other CPU bottlenecked games, don't buy this mobo.
Some things to watch out on that low end Gigabyte board:
- The included WiFi is WiFi 5 with Bluetooth 4.2. It looks like you can replace it, but you need to buy an Intel AX210 (WiFi 6E) and with the extra cost, you might as well get a better board.
- Board lottery, it could be rev 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2. Revision 1.0 has inferior memory frequency support compared to 1.1 and 1.2.
- Single m.2 NVMe SSD slot (so if you want more SSDs, then it is basically SATA or add-on card through PCIe gen 3 x1 slot, but NVMe x1 mode isn't ideal and once again add-on card costs $$$).
- Zero USB 3.2 gen 2 port
Should I upgrade if I have 7500F?
Do not upgrade anything unless you're very dissatisfied with your current set up. 7700 is not way better than 7500F
it wont offer much of a noticeable change
How much can you get if you sell your 7500F? If the price difference (after selling your 7500F) is little, you could consider (mainly to stop you from keep thinking about it). This is not all time low price for 7700 though.
RYZEN 5 7500F vs RYZEN 7 7700 | Test in 12 Games | 1080p & 1440p: that was tested with 4070Ti, so if you have inferior GPU, the performance difference will be even smaller.
Awesome price for those who missed out on the last Ryzen 7700 deal. This is a great CPU to get and sit on until end of 2026 when TSMC 2nm Zen6 24 core (2x12 core chiplet) CPU comes out next year with all new memory controller.
