Give it a go. It's outright so why not.

I just use my phone.

s24 FE 600? how does it rank
looking for a backup phone for holiday in 2 weeks
The cameras in this (personally speaking) are superior. If you want it for photos as well this would be the better purchase.

this is now 2 generations back right? we got 9 now, soon pixel 10 in 3 months

Great device

No better deal at this price imo

For those wondering, it still holds up very well (med gaming and general use). I had mine for 1.5 years and the battery is still good (I get a full day easy) and I can't think of any bugs that haven't been resolved. The phones currently runs Android 15 (latest version) and will be upgradeable to Android 18 (around 2027). Security updates are released monthly and will continue until 2029 (7 years of total updates).
It's a decent phone for that price and still has a few good years of support left.

Should I cancel the G75 and buy this?
I know this is double the price, don't really mind. Good guys still haven't confirmed my order, so I'm confident I can cancel it

I would 😅

Battery in the Pixel is going to be far worse since it uses an awful Samsung modem that has extremely bad battery drain and thermals.

This or the Pixel 8a from Amaysim?

Yes 7 Pro looks better than 8a for similar money.

2 year warranty too

Am a current P7Pro owner. Still a great phone and I have the pre public release beta android 16 which is really good and feeling polished. Still very happy with it overall.

After 2 years my pixel 7 pro still worth half the price

And who said Google doesn't copy Apple 😁

Are these network locked? If

No

I'm still really happy with my 2yo P7P. The fingerprint reader works great 99.9% of the time, photos are gorgeous and it's surprisingly zippy still after all this time. On my previous Samsung phones, by this point the experience would have diminished a fair bit with apps slowing down but I seriously can't say the same for this.
$500 is actually a pretty sweet spot I think.

I was thinking the same thing just the other day. I'm in no hurry to upgrade, hasn't even crossed my mind. Having guaranteed updates extended a few years has definitely been a bonus too

Thanks, this is a nice affordable replacement for my pixel 6 pro which I've dropped a few too many times

Get a case for this 7 Pro.

can these still record phone calls unlike my iphone? (normal phone or whatsapp)
was the equivalent of this in its year the s23+? and iphone 14 pro?
it cant without warning (robot voice says this call is being recorded beeep)_, stupid safety feature of apple. (on normal phone call) with android you can run an app in background and it records any phone call from any app

Things might have changed, but the last time I looked, the feature seems to be disabled in our region. There is probably a way around it, but I didn't try very hard.
I had it working very briefly without even trying when I first got the phone 2+ years ago and I set it up without a Google account. I noticed the feature was there when playing around with the call settings, and then it randomly disappeared when I updated Android and signed in with my Australian Google account. I am not sure which of the two actions triggered this, as I did both around the same time.
From what I've been told (which may be wrong) the phone figures out its region automatically regardless of what settings you apply or what region is set on your account. Supposedly, to make the radio and other network features comply accordingly for the region it's in and work properly and lawfully. This is what prevented me from enabling the 6Ghz WiFi band on my P7P in Australia, despite usage of the band being allowed here now. I tried a few times to set it other regions to enable this aspect, but no dice.
Either way, if you were looking to record calls discretely with the stock calling app, don't bother. It plays an announcement that can't be disabled, letting the other person know that the call is being recorded.
It's a bit annoying that they disabled the feature enitrely when recording is legally allowed in some states. I know in QLD we have single-party consent for recording, meaning you can record any conversation that you are a party to without having to notify the others. A quick Google search suggests it could be illegal (and therefore recordings would be inadmissible in Court) in other states though, so maybe Google just went with a blanket ban to avoid any misunderstanding of its use and the user's responsibilities, despite the automatic announcement.
If you're game, you may be able to get LineageOS or another custom ROM running on there and find a way to enable call recording without the announcement. If not from within the stock dialer, then maybe a third party app. It's been quite a while since I looked into doing this as I no longer have a need for it. Don't get me wrong though, I can definitely understand why others might have a need for it…

Oh man, replaced my 7 pro recently with the Motorola and would have much preferred this

Are these new or refurbs.

New I'd say!

Ok. Amazon has refurbs for a bit less. Prefer new.

No longer showing up as an outright purchase

What's all this shit about UI's???
Just ditch it and get NOVA so you add it to virtually any Android device and always feel at home. I went from a Pixel 2 to 7Pro and always felt comfortable using a familiar interface on the newer hardware regardless of the Android version I'm using. I've found it superior to any "stock standard" UI from ANY manufacturer and can customise it in any way I choose!!! Great phone by the way (especially at this price)…
Bugger I hesitated too long. I missed out on the Telstra deal on the Samsung A55. I'd prefer microSD or a 256GB but this was a good deal for the price. Hopefully other good deals soon in this price bracket!

Google bricked my Pixel 7 Pro with the Android 14 update and never offered any help. I was using a multi-user setup—search Google for more details

Pixel 10 coming next August. Might be worth waiting for the price drop of older versions when it hits.

Just a Update on $498.96 Pixel 7 Pro.
I went to Optus last night 29/7
And bought it directly for that price. They had black and white.Although was removed from web site. Is avail on store outright with NO CONTRACT.
Did try hard to get me on plan. But F Optus.
FYI. I'm on Felix for $40 a month with unlimited 5g. Put sim in a old Optus Nokia 5G modem. I regularly use 1000 gig a month. Runs several TV on Netflix and prime, Gaming and torrent downloads. Been doing it for over 2 years.
Run another on my Biz and runs my cameras and POS (Not perfect)

Which store did you go to? I tried my local Optus but it was a no. Thanks

Morayfield QLD. 2 colours in stock. That was last Thursday.

FYI this is still available in store if you can find stock: $498.96 including GST. Bought mine at Morayfield QLD.
Their public web site is only showing plans (and the "$299" price quoted on the web site is only if you go on a long term plan - yuck). They don't avertise that you can buy it outright at the "RRP" which is $498.96 according to Optus.
It shows up on their internal catalogue in the store (I don't know if I can post images here but I'll try? - https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/13709/122379/pxl_20250…
Staff couldn't believe it. They went and scanned it to double-check. Surely enough it rang up at the $498.96 price. They said "Oh that'd explain why they keep sending us another Pixel 7 Pro with every delivery we receive". Despite me not being an Optus customer, there was no issue selling it to me, I just had to give a name and phone number for them to record for warranty purposes and to issue a tax invoice.
While I'm a bit bummed that I missed Telstra's recent deal on the Pixel 8 Pro for only $499, I'm very happy that I was able to get this to replace my existing broken Pixel 7 Pro which suffered an unfortunate accident recently and so was due for urgent replacement.

I just saw this one, Pixel 8 Pro 128GB for just $499. You need to pay $13.84/month for 36 months and then select small sim plan $55/month and then cancel it. Total cost, $498.24+$55=$553.24. Am I right for this? Thanks. https://www.optus.com.au/mobile/phones/google/pixel-8-pro
