Just know that if I had one of these I would probably never go to the cinema ever again (along with all the other costs including driving, parking, travel, snacks, drinks, etc) and watching F1 would be a lot of fun.

    • +7

If it was OLED I'd never leave my house!

      • You have a big house.

        • +4

You can comfortably sit 3 metres from a 98" for HD content, what are you on about? There are two things that I know that are true in life that I come across time and time again.. That is, people can't negotiate roundabouts to save their life and people have no clue what size TV to what distance they think they need to sit. Sitting 3 metres from a 98 inch would be the same peripheral vision as sitting like 60cm from a 27" computer monitor.. which is pretty standard. I sit 3.2 metres from an 85" and to be honest, it's still not big enough.

          • +3

@Justin9mm: A lot of people can't afford a place that's has 3 metres to the tv in their lounge

          • @Justin9mm: Roundabouts generally work great.

            • @eccaz: They work great for me, just not for the person in front of me it seems.

      • I would by 5 (1 in the ceiling) if that's the case.

Not even this screen would make the Monaco GP a lot of fun

no heroics into sainte devote please

        • We've had one, yes, but what about F2?

        • How about "the tunnel"

    • Just know that if I had one of these I would probably never go to the cinema ever again

Ticket prices should have stopped people a long time aho.

This is inaccurate. The C655 2024 model has been upgraded to the C6K. The predecessor of the P7K is the P755.

85" model is around half the price at $2219 but only 13% smaller. Seems like a much better deal.

    • recent C7K 85" is ~$2500

      98” has a 33% larger screen than an 85”

You should be banned from performing mathematics

        • +7

A 98-inch TV is larger than an 85-inch TV. Specifically, the 98-inch TV is 15.29% larger diagonally and 32.93% larger in area.

        • +1

Because it's a diagonal measure, the extra size increases the height and the width so there's a multiplication effect.

Your maths is comparing the two numbers as if they were quoting the surface area of the TV,
          Cheers

@DealHuntersXD: Ta. Every downvote I got I earned. That'll learn me for trying to Ozbargain when I'm on a Teams meeting.

  • Can someone share what the width between the stands is? I couldn’t find that information from the dimensions. My TV cabin might not long enough. Thanks for the help.

  • will this fit in a mini cooper?

    • +10

A Mini Cooper is more likely to fit ON it

      • Part of the wheels would stick out a few cm on the top/bottom of the tv but would fit lengthwise , bonnet and boot would overhang.

For the old 60s classic mini, not the modern one.

  • what do you do with the old one?

  • Such a bargain. If that the price now, imagine the Black Friday or run out sales next March. I got my TCL C755 for 3.6k delivered last March. This tv is just better than mine but that how tech works.

Whoever purchased this tv you are in for a treat. It like a cinema at home.

  • this is or a hisense c2

    • If a TCL TV isn’t showing the volume level on screen, it’s almost never because the feature doesn’t exist, virtually all TCL TVs, even low-end models, include an on-screen display for volume by default. The absence of this display is far more likely due to settings being misconfigured (such as the OSD being disabled), the use of external audio devices like soundbars or AV receivers (which shift volume control away from the TV and suppress the on-screen bar), or special modes like “hospital” or “hotel” mode that are often enabled in aged care or commercial environments, which intentionally limit visual overlays. It can also occur if a universal or non-TCL remote is used, as some of these bypass the UI entirely. Less common causes include firmware glitches or accessibility settings that suppress on-screen elements. The best way to fix it is to: check if external sound systems are connected, ensure OSD is enabled in the settings menu, use the original TCL remote, test multiple input sources (like switching from HDMI to the built-in tuner), and if needed, perform a firmware update or factory reset. If the volume bar still doesn’t appear, and especially if no menus or overlays show at all, it may be a rare hardware issue or a device locked into a managed mode that requires technician access.

      • +1

Ok interesting, thanks. The set definitely doesn't have an external speaker/soundbar and the remote is a genuine TCL one. I guess it must be in the settings. I'll look into it.

    • I wouldn't be so quick to judge Chinese brand TVs nowadays, their panels are pretty much very comparable to the LG, Sony and Samsung with a much lower price tag. Chinese TVs have been around much longer than Chinese cars and look at all the new cars on the road, most of them being Cherry, BYD, MG cars.

      • +1

TCL actually make the panels for the 98" TVs of all those brands you've listed.

"TCL CSOT, its display manufacturing division, has also begun supplying competing TV brands with 98-inch LCD panels. So when you see a 98-inch TV from LG, Sony, Samsung or another brand, there is a TCL panel inside."

      • -3

No they’re not. TCL fanbois simply kid themselves into believing that this is true. Cartoons are great on a TCL, but sport is horrible.

        • but sport is horrible

Yes that is the general consensus (not talking about TVs).

        • TCL are up there with Bauhn for the worst units on the market. They’re fine for displaying the menu in a fish and chip shop, but that’s about it.

    • TCLs are incredibly popular, especially in overseas markets like Singapore and China. Only buying from Sony/LG/Samsung is an outdated attitude, these are amazing TVs and the C7K/C8K models particularly rival OLEDs - according to actual floor salespeople, who would love to sell OLEDS on a higher ticket for more commission. Head into a JBHIFI soon and see for yourself

      • -1

They do not compare to OLED’s at all.

        • good thing noone here (including the market, TCLs are taking up prime real estate on sales floors these days) agrees with you. But go off

          • -1

@augernised: There’s a difference between being popular and being good.

  • +1

I own an older model TCL 98 i got for $4k. If you have a room that you use for TV/movies/games I can highly recommend.

  • And the Girth?

  • needs to be 8k at 98"

  • UST at 120”? Yea, blackout curtains during the day and less contrast than a TV but 22 extra inches.
