I9 overkill for this form factor. Also 13th gen and 14th gen are problematic

    • also it's an MSI

      • how does MSI compare to Dell? Tossing up a few options including this one. What's the issues with MSI?

        • Between the two I would get the Dell for better support. I have an MSI gaming laptop and the build quality is OK and works. But depends on your budget and everything. In my case I should have gotten a nice Macbook instead.

          • @captainmac: Thanks. Not for me but budget around $1000-$1300. Don’t need it for gaming just basic stuff but want it to be super responsive and quick to use

        • I don't know if they have changed Dell but mine thinks my charger is not original 1/2 the time and won't charge.

          • @DavRo: often I charge my dell 5500 with my 68w phone charger usb c

    • What does overkill for this form factor mean? If it's more than it needs that's only a good thing right?

Can you elaborate on the problems 13th and 14th gen have?

      • Typical TDP 55 W
        TDP Down: 45 W
        TDP Up: 157 W

That's quite toasty in a slim build laptop. No gaming graphics and 16GB reduce the real need for such a powerful CPU.

The issues with 13th and 14th gen intel CPUs are mostly desktop variants and not laptop. But who really knows.

        • Hungry processor, with a 54Wh batt, expect a short charge cycle?

“IPS Level” display meaning TN meaning bad viewing angles and probably poor colours.
Might be a decent TN but still a TN not IPS like it should be for this price. MSI saving probably $15…

  • lol i love how they cram i7 or i9 in these tiny thin af laptops just for marketing because the average joe falls for it but i guess if the price is good then why not

  • Becareful with msi they hide the bad or so so spec/things and they are usually a lot. At the end you will regret getting it and wish spending a bit more.

    • Don’t mind spending in the $1000-$1300 range. What else is good for a decent business laptop? (no gaming, don’t need touch screen, weight/form not an issue).

What would something like what I posted be hiding exactly?

  • 16gb ram is abit low with an i9
