This really made me laugh, thank you

Not a good movie imo. 1st one was cleverly done.

  • +24

nowhere near as good as the first one. The first one had things about it that differentiated it from just being yet another action movie, this one didn't. Why it's still called 'the accountant' baffles me, script made one poor reference to tax deductions in the first 15mins of the film and the rest just felt like a jason statham movie.

    • +1

I agree. 2nd version was boring.

    • +8

" just felt like a jason statham movie"

Awesome so I am definitely going to watch this then! =)

  • Just in time for all those who swore off Prime cause they couldn't get free membership to rejoin again.

    • +3

Not sure an average movie with ads will be enough but you never know

  • +6

Is this why they take so long to finish my tax returns?

    • having a hard time just contacting them even… sigh

  • +2

I watched the first one few weeks ago.
Looking forward to watching this one soon.

US Propaganda. 'if we give them access to all our data the world will be safer. Also, immigrants are bad'

    • I watched it and that wasn't the biggest woke message to be found.

I thought it was the whole plot that Juarez immigrant criminals are bad, they will comes to the US and commit crimes (like human trafficking) so it was a wet dream situation where they immolate them all across the border before they have a chance to come to the US including the bad US citizens who help them.

Nice, hopefully this movie has tips on what to claim on fixed rate or actual cost and additional running expenses.

Loved the first one but this one is meh. Ben Affleck's acting was so flat, the story line was bland, and the script was very plain.
It's ok to watch for free but it won't be winning any Oscars that's for sure.

    • +1

Ben Affleck's acting was so flat,

I was going to correct you based on the first movie, how he is playing a grown up with autism and most of their attempts at emotion and socialising are them masking (he is meant to appear mostly flat like in emotion).

but I just watched the 2nd movie. I agree something is off about his acting. it seemed like a different character to the first movie. like he was forcing and trying to act a character with autism too hard. maybe he got feedback from autistic people and tried too hard to be that.

also yes weird directions the plot went, such as the "dating event hack" and guy in underwear arguing over the phone about their dog? for a 5~10 min scene. and then line dancing? yes I get it he likes synchronization and routine but they dragged it out too much. the movie also didn't have the great beginning sub plot of the first one, where he spares that guys life. instead it's just a faceless sniper which we learn a bit more about (but not much other than "he's evil") but nowhere near as good of a story.
female character was also a cardboard cut out of a character. could have done so much more with that.

imo another good recent movie ruined by a sequel. apparently Den of thieves 2 was also bad and nothing like the first one, I haven't watched it yet though.

      • Oh yea don't get me wrong, I get the whole socially awkward autistic persona. Like you said, he played the character very well in the first one because he brought a lot of energy with him but in the second one he just looks tired and uninterested. The lines and dialogue are flat. Partly because of the poor script and partly because he gives you the impression that he didn't want to be there.

Also agree on the stupid sub-stories about the puppy and the dating scene. It's like they tried to turn it into more of a comedy but it comes up short and instead we got 20 minutes of scenes that went nowhere.

LOL If you didn't like the accountant 2, you definitely won't like den of thieves 2. The first one was about a bunch of badass criminals doing badass shit while a bunch of badass cops try to take them down. You could see that the director drew a lot of inspiration from Heat but he did it in a respectful manner with his own characters, and his own twist on the story. The second was just drivel in comparison. You know those poorly generated AI images? Well that's what watching this movie felt like. I felt like they used AI to write the story and the script to save on money and as a result we got an incoherent plot, characters that you can't relate to, and an ending that was just a mess by all standards.

        • It's like they tried to turn it into more of a comedy but it comes up short and instead we got 20 minutes of scenes that went nowhere.

yeah well said it was almost like an ad break because of the way they were inserted and with minimal context. ai might have something to do with it who knows. 😂

you definitely won't like den of thieves 2.

oh no.. oh well I will still give it a watch. only for free or added during my month sub to particular service though. I might rent it if it drops to 99c rent but when that happens 50/50 it comes to Free on PrimeVideo in a month or two.

    FYI

    IMDb: 7/10
    Rotten Tomato: 76%

They clearly don't know what accountants do

    • Or, an auditor.

    • well.. consider it as accounting as the side hustle

    • +1

did you miss the part towards the end when he used weapons to do all that accounting??

  • +1

wooo thank you OP didn't know about this one.

my month of Prime just expiring too I have just over 2 days. 😀

      2 was mediocre to dissapointing.

tbh I watched the first one just before this one so I noticed every aspect and major differences. not even close to the first movie.

parts the 1st movie had the 2nd one didn't: mysterious violent beginning, which allowed plot holes to be filled in by the story up until the last quarter of the movie, keeps you very interested and invested. acting as masking adult with autism was realistic, little details from The accountants daily life matter such as his social interactions at accountant office with elderly couple, polite but disconnected response to coworker. opening the garage at the same precise moment everyday, parking the truck without error into a garage that's too small so needs to enter diagonally with perfection for the door to close. scenes of deliberate extreme sensory overload to cope with daily sensory overload (also a reflection to the past and his father's attitude). his inability to connect with people, including Anna Kendrick, but wanting to do his best. multiple character development flashbacks which filled in "who" the accountant was, some from childhood including mother and father, they are realistic (some difficult to explain like the funeral flashback) and made you care about him. other characters also have backstories so they all meant something to the story. difficult relationship with father and two brothers plays out in ending in a almost weird way, which I found unpredictable and realistic.

2 got a view from me just from hype and marketing but I won't be watching Accountant 2 again. I watched the first one 3 times.

  • This better be good.

  • fun movie

  • +1

Anna Kendrick was a significant reason the first one was so watchable

  • Bernthal and Affleck bounce so well of each other and Affleck does socially awkward/no social etiquette so well

  • +2

The movie was so bad in everyway. I tried so much to like it and should have walk out half way through or even earlier.
But I guess it won't cost you anything to watch it on Prime except for your time and your perception to The Account (1) movie.

    • But imdb is decent

  • EXTREME accounting for maximum return!!!!!
