Quick! Buy them before they become the weapon of choice in Victoria and are banned.

    • It seems like they are already Banned ! Can’t purchase it !

      • I added one to cart fine, says ships in 2-3 days. Didn’t finalize the order as I already have one.

Finally, an offset machete I can buy.

    • +2

Watch this space, it'll be banned in a couple of years as well…

  • I'm intrigued. What would one use this for?

    • +11

Picking a fight with "rival gardening gangs"

    • +1

      Ideal for turning tough soils
Perfect for removing roots and rocks from garden bed

    • +1

      You don't dig it?

    • +3

digging for mushrooms in the state forests.

    • +1

You could use it to shape rocks you and your fellow inmates find in the yard into small chess pieces while secretly spending years gradually digging a hole in your wall using a poster of Rita Hayworth to cover your secret escape?

    • Digging a hole big enough to bury your family … and maybe the neighbours too… full sized is better for this.

Great where you don't need to dig deep but not that deep, garden beds roots if axe head and not pick, drill holes etc

Sometimes a full size one is difficult to swing or constricted space.

Mattocks or maddocks are really use for roots and many purposes.

  • won't ship to my location in Sydney.

  • Won't ship to many addresses I've tried to send to

    • +6

Same. For many yrs I've never had anything that can't be shipped to my address, until this mid yr sale event. I've got 3 different items in 2 days that can't be shipped to me, including this one. The "can't be delivered" message only pops up at the checkout page, while everything looks normal on the product page. This is unusual, because based on my past experience, items that truly can’t be shipped to my address (which I occasionally come across) typically display a red warning message right on the product page. I've also tried some of my friends' addresses, none worked. This doesn't make any sense as my friend's addresses are practically those that, as long as Amazon is still doing business in this country, they will always deliver to. I don't know what Amazon is doing at backend that messed things up.

      • +1

        Same here. Poor form Amazon

      • +1

Same. So much for "Prime" delivery.

        • Or they never have it in stock but list it …

    • +1

      Same, never seen that before

    • +1

Wondering if anyone managed to buy one at all?

    • It wouldn't send to my primary address, I changed the address to my in-laws and the screen showed that it couldn't send to their address however I clicked proceed and it accepted their address. I think that the initial warning screen does not recalculate on that screen when the address is changed. You need to click proceed for it to recalculate address compatibility. This worked for me, YMMV.

    • so now the sale is over, i'm able to have it sent to my address. hmmmm

      • Really? What a scam!

  • This is small

    • That's what she said.

      It's supposed to be.

I bought a mattock from Bunnings recently - they are kept behind a screen, and a staff member needs to walk you to the counter to ensure no funny business!

    • +2

Not at my local store, at least not a couple of months ago when I was looking at them.

    • I guess they don't want people clowning around over there.

  • won't ship to Adelaide

    • Won't ship to Sydney either.

  • +4

Dimensions on the Amazon page are very wrong.
For anyone who wants to know handle is 400mm long.
    https://www.spearandjackson.com.au/products/SJ-MINPIK
Prob not long enough to be effective for say digging a trench or any action that requires some force. Good for gardening and loose soil though I suppose.

    • Geez, only a bit longer than a ruler and they still can't ship it to most addresses…

  • +2

    CAN YOU DIIIIG ITT?!

  • +5

    Are these legal in Victoria?

    • +6

Grab one before they're inevitably banned.

  • +1

are these good for handling hjacks?

  • About to get 99 mining irl, thanks OP

Note this mini mattock is 300g. I just used this to dig around and out 2 very deep star picket posts to remove. It's 2kgs. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/818825

This one you probably use one handed. Paleontologist, shallow gardening…

    • I'd say that's an error on the listing, 300g is toffee hammer territory.

      • Listing says 1.2m long; other similar for S&J mini says 40cm (but doesn't look exactly the same - sticker, etc.).

        • 1.2m sounds full length handle.

  • Wont ship to my address either, perhaps update title, quite a few people seem to be exempt from the deal.

  • No bueno shipping to Brisbane

    • +1

QLD laws are cooked. I could sooner murder someone with a claw hammer than this.

      • It is probably not QLD laws, Amazon or the seller just doesn't want to pay for shipping except for cheaper postage routes.

        • +1

I don't know. I'm into axes and things of the sort, and it is impossible to get any sort of gardening tool that is even somewhat bladed or considered a weapon. Even mower blades have been caught in the trap.

    • I was able to order to 2 addresses

      • What area would they be?

  • What's the difference between these 5L sprayers? The old model (2015) one ranks much higher than the new one. I can't find any differences listed in the description.
    * Model one ~$20 down to $13 &
    * Model two ~$30 down to $25.

  • Better buy one before they're banned in Vic

  • Canceled :(
