I have been trying to decide about this. Thoughts?

    • I went ahead and did it. Worst case senario I will just try to sell it on gumtree

      • lol, you can be bothered selling a $10 item on ebay? 50% of the cost would be postage

        • +9

eBay? The guy meant gumtree gumby.

        • +1

Still get something back… better than nothing!

        • -3

yeah, ebay would be insane, but if I can sell it for $10 or more on gumtree why not. And before you say I will never sell something for what I paid, I have sold things on gumtree that I have gotten as freebees from OzB so I have some confidence.

        • Isn't gumtree owned by ebay?

        • dammit! can't edit my post!

          Ebay owns gumtree anyway

      • +2

Yep, just did the same. $10 with return policy. I spent more on lunch. And apparently it comes with a 12 month warranty?

        It'll be delivered tomorrow so we'll see…

        • probably cost you more the $10 to post back .. and is it delivery or shipping dated for tomorrow - be very surprised if they overnighted these.

        • Yep that was ship date, my bad.

  • -4

I recon it's worth it but get in quick. All the good stuff would go first than all the later purchases would be crap.

  • -4

wow great scheme! Wonder if there's any negligible chance someone would get a SGS3

    • +8

bro, You are on ozbargain, not dreamerland

      • lol i was being sarcastic of course. Guess it wasn't all that clear = /

    • +1

      ROFL.

At most the items will be worth $15-20. In order for something to be worth $500 a lot of people will either get nothing, or a $2 item.

  • +42

never buy these mystery gadget… waste of money for sure

  • -1

    iPhone 5?

    • +2

      Bugger off! It'll be a Nexus 4.

      • They'll all be Nexus 4s!

  • Bought. Keen to know what it is…

  • +6

Sure to be something they previously tried to sell, and was a flop.

  • +1

    14 Day money back…

    Why not…

    • +5

      14 Day money back*

    • I don't understand the correction or the neg…

Just saying nothing really much to loose and that gets me a neg?

      GG voter :/

      • +1

        I didn't neg you.

        • Didn't say you did just someone did,

However I still don't get your correction :P

        • +4

don't take it personally, it's OzB - if one person negs you, you generally get many more - if one +1's you, more will follow. It's the sheep mentality :D - watch this get negged now.

        • Orange123 put an asterisk next to the 14 Day Money Back

That usually means, there are terms and conditions to check.

      • Fixed

      • +1

the correction is not supposed to be a correction in the FTFY sense. It's pointing out that the 14 day guarantee has terms attached.

      • I don't understand the neg but the correction added an asterisk after it to specify that there might be hidden conditions to the 14 day money back.

  • +7

I recall when Catchoftheday did this several times, I tried it and got nothing I wanted. It just went to the bin. This will surely be a waste of money. I assume it could be cases/covers/bags as that is where the big markup is.

    • I don't think its gonna be cases or covers since it said 'gadgets'…maybe like one of them cheap cube speakers or something

      • +1

$5 sez its a Camera Lens Travel Mug … they seem to have heaps of ema and have sold them cheaper then $10 in the past http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75876 - though of course values at more then $10.

    • I doubt they'd send out cases or covers for gadgets that people are unlikely to have. More likely some crappy play gadget like a RC copter that you might use once, or speakers, or headphones.

  • Lots of fun eh?

Guess it's not Anti-Virus this time then.

  • sooooo tempting!!!! Although I know it's gonna just be junk, that mystery part..mmm

  • +2

I'm not sure this is actually a bargain, considering you don't know what you're getting. As others have said, it is almost guaranteed to be stock that they can't sell (obviously too expensively "valued" or just useless or whatever the reason).

    Not for me unfortunately.

  • +3

    $11 gift card?

    • +2

Definitely camera lens which they can't sell because they sold them for $5 previously.

It's basically a $10 lucky dip for things which if they advertise for $10 they probably wouldn;'t sell. It's not out of the goodness of their hearts they're selling high value desirable items which they don't want to disclose.

    • Yeah everything you've listed except the travel mug makes sense as shipping for all those would only be a couple of bucks in the post.

Then again Kogan is probably cuckoo bananas enough to send out iphones to everyone who took this deal up as a publicity stunt …

  • +2

    Another $10 wasted

  • +1

I have enough mysteries already, think i will keep my 10

  • +12

This deal should be banned - falls under the category of "gambling" :)

    • +1

Agreed, as there's no specific bargain and the item(s) are unknown, the forums is probably a better place for this.

  • +4

More interested to see what people get rather than paying for frustration :)

  • +11

Seriously, how can this get onto the front page?

Past experience from many users says it will be crap. Also, you don't know what you're getting, so you don't know if it's good or bad value

  • 14 day money back satisfaction guarantee lol

  • +1

i dont really want to spend $10 on something i dont know what im getting, this is a business, they will give you junk for your $10.. no deal!!

  • +2

WTS mystery gadget.. $100.. Guaranteed to of once had a value over $100

  • +3

I'm guessing that they are overstocked on Agora Smart TV HDMI Dongle with Quickflix Play

edit: Sold Out, just as I clicked Checkout.

  • Sold Out

    • -1

Someone negged this, lol first time a neg put a smile on my face. That's just comedy gold.

  • Sold out.

  • Sold Out..

  • +2

Cost for Kogan to put up a mystery product on the website and allocate stock … $5
Cost for free publicity and watching ozbargainers bickering over a $10 mystery gadget … Priceless

    • +6

      For others there is mastercard?

  • plz be good.

  • lol this reminds me of those deal extreme mystery packs, but they're like $50 from memory. There some pretty funny videos on youtube of unboxings.

Although if you have a DS, it's a good way to get an R4, as they're pretty much always included in the mystery buys. I think it's a loophole that allows them to sell R4 cartridges without actually selling them, if you know what I mean.

  • Personal Intimate Massager. Batteries not included. For personal hygiene reasons, returns not accepted.

  • +1

Maybe it's a MFP, like the $9 Dell?

  • +6

maybe its a $10 kogan sim card… hook, line and sinker.

  • +2

    Meh. "Valued".

I value my Organic Bottle of Fresh Air to be worth $60 per 500ml Bottle.

  • +7

I'm pretty sure I figured out what gift you're gonna receive. In the PayPal checkout it gave you a item ID. Searched the site and BOOM! ;)

  • The STB that doesn't work after 6 hours of use, is my guess

  • Damn.. i would have bought this deal. Its expired now. Always been happy with Kogan so far.

  • God help me - if I've come in too late and missed getting a limited edition Ruslan Kogan bobblehead doll I'll never forgive myself.

  • +2

maybe a photo of Kogan himself, as he thinks it's worth more than $10

  • Right, who wants to sell me their $10 gadget for $5? ;-)

    • If it's a bobblehead doll, I'll double your offer!

  • +1

Cant believe there are 14 votes for this, previous deals similar to this show that you will be disapointed with the item when it arrives. Better of saving the $10 and not getting this deal.

Website says normally worth more than $10. This is interesting as Kogan sells/used to sell on ebay, how much will this item be priced on ebay?

  • maybe a iphone, they are only worth $10….

    • That would be disappointing. :(

    • i'm hoping for the new 5" android phone. happy to "review" it for $10.

      • maybe you'll get the china domestic parallel imported version.
that says 5" android phone on the brick… ;)

  • The Surest way of saving $10.00 is not to spend it especially on something you even don't know what it is and most probably you do not need at all.
    .
Some people can't help it because it is a "deal".
    .
Buy a Tatts ticket instead. It'll be more fun :)

  • +1

It's probably going to be those knockoff SNES/GBA/insert-old-console emulators that they were trying to flog off before.

    • I was thinking (and hoping) for that….chances are slim though…

  • This is a trick by kogan to get $10 from me.

  • Anyone elses mystery gift been posted yet?

Sounds like this which they don't seem to have on their site at the moment.

It'll be interesting to see if everyone was sent the same item of if it was a mixed bag of stuff, guess we'll find out as more items arrive.

    • So it's worth $29. Considering the product.. it's not a very good deal I guess

  • Mine just arrived. Its a Kogan PMP II

  • Just got a knock off psp…

    PAP gameta?

Makes me wonder if some angry letters from Sony arrived so they've pulled them from sale and decided to dump remaining stock via this 'mystery gadget' sale.

    • What if it is considered to be illegal product? Is it ok to sell this under "mystery" title?

      • What if it is considered to be illegal product?

Once you have it, it'll have nothing to do with you.
Kogan just might stop selling it

      • If I'm even remotely close - which I'm probably not - I'd guess that they received a cease and desist order preventing them from advertising or showing images of the device (as it looks too similar to the sony device) so by offering it as they have, they've circumvented any orders. Basically what they've done is give the item away for free and cover the cost of shipping.

Pure conjecture of course, would love to know the real story assuming there is even one to know.

  • So today I opened the device, The screen was scratched.

I got to play a game, And it says 'load save' …

Did I receive a used 'PAP' console or is this how they all are?

    • The one we got had protective plastic over the screen. The battery was flat, so the unit is on charge at the moment. For $10 my 6 year old thinks I'm the best Dad in the world for getting her a "PSP".

      • Your 6 year old daughter wont be happy…

Minecraft has better graphics, And I am not exagerating.

No game I have tried is playable. Steering lags so much, You go around a corner and drive into the wall because you have to judge when to stop.

I'm actually legit throwing mine out.
