Looks like Bose have dropped their prices to match other retailers which is good news because you can now use this getprice link https://www.getprice.com.au/coupons/bose?visibleMatchId=7014… to get an extra 10% off, dropping the price to $359.96 for all colours. Alternatively, if you have Student Beans you can get $40 off for purchases $150 or more on their Bose page.

Used these headphones on a recent overseas trip and they were pretty comfortable and the noise cancelling worked well.

  • With student beans discount it becomes a no brainer

    • Do you know whether it's stackable? Looks like you can only use one code per tx.

      • +1

Don't think it's stackable. There is only one option for voucher .

        • +1

Yup, one only. Either or! 👍

But cashrewards on top should work if still available.

@chilln2006: Will pass. Waiting for good deal on xm6

            • @Hellcat: you can get xm6 for $532. check ozbargain for the deal

            • @Hellcat: Cool if you want a thin uncomfortable headband, small ear cups that touch and heat up your ears but hey you do you.

          • @chilln2006: Top cashback offers 3% CB!

      • +2

Not stackable, an incredible 1c cheaper using Student beans though.

        Student beans: $359.95

Bought these a month or so ago for ~$460 and would say they're a no-brainer for $360

  • Does JB price match coupon-ed items

  • AirPods Pro 2 or these? (I had xm6 from previous deal and they weren't comfy and def not worth the $170 over these)

    • +4

I generally prefer the pros just for ease of use especially when i'm at the gym or in a rush but I'd say the noise cancelling is better on the ultras than pros.

      • -1

Good luck with the popping noise every time you jump, run and commute in public transport when the bus hit bumpy road with Bose Ultra, none of these issues happen with XM6.

Oh the earcups hopefully wont falling apart after less than 10 months of partial use. LOL

I travel a lot with my QC Ultra’s and mine are great. If this was a genuine issue, it would’ve also popped up in reviews.

I suspect you had a pair that should’ve been replaced.

          • @BillyG687: Yep no issue with ultras and 10x more comfortable than the Sony.

      • +1

I don't like Sony. have XM4, but experience is not too good compare to Bose QC

    • Are there any other products aside from airpods that have fabric paddings and detachable cups?

      • this deal is for over-ear headphones

airpods I thought were in-ear buds - do they have fabric padding ?

        • Ah, sorry I thought @v7dal was talking about the Airpod Max because, as you said, the deal is about over-ear headphones.
I got confused as Apple name them all as "Airpods".
Airpods Max is over-ear headphones: https://www.apple.com/au/shop/buy-airpods/airpods-max

Thank you, bough one. code from getprice works

Do these also suffer from a random but occasional disconnection like the Bose quiet comfort SC?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/883635

    • Just uninstall the bose app and the problem magically goes away.

      • I think I did that for one of my 2 pairs of Bose QC (45 & SC) which might have fixed it

for the pair where I kept it because I wanted the EQ Bass/Mid/Treble adjustment, I think it drops the signal maybe every 15-20 minutes or so while using it to watch TV.

Not sure if that's the reason but something like every 15-20 minutes

  • Pity doesn't stack with SB

  • Buying from Bose has a 90 money back guarantee so this seems like a very good deal! If anything goes wrong you can return them or get them replaced (I don't work there but saw this on their website and strongly thinking of buying)

    • +3

I mean nobody thought u worked there, but now I believe you do

    • +1

I think the 90 day trial period means that you can return them for any reason, not just defects, but I don't have any experience using this.

      • yeah I meant this apologies. Even better!

  • Photo shows Diamonds model, but that doesn't seem to be for sale?

  • -2

Sounds like it’s not worth paying the extra for these when quiet comfort SC are $236 delivered at Kogan.
Same drivers, same battery life, annoying touch control, less comfortable earmuffs with a very tight grip and slightly better aluminium build for an extra $130 with coupon.

No Thanks not a bargain IMO

    Ref: https://www.reddit.com/r/bose/comments/1i9n0f6/bose_quietcom…

    TLDR:
Conclusion: It is an easy choice to return the QCU and keep the standard QC. The upgrade is absolutely not worth 150€. In fact, the standard QC just wins in most of the categories for me anyway. Better portability / better comfort / better controls / "all-black".

    • I went from QC45 to Ultras and I prefer the 45s.

The controls drive me insane on the Ultras. The touch controls aren’t intuitive, and I much prefer an on/off switch for power rather than having to hold a button for a few seconds and guess whether they’ve turned on or off properly.

Sound quality/noise cancellation is slightly better but not worth the tradeoffs in controls and comfort.

    • +3

Not sure if it's worth a neg, but it's an interesting perspective. I must admit I have been wondering to what extent headphones have really been improving, or whether they've plateaued yet. I mean, you can only take sound quality and noise cancellation so far. I have a Sony 1000XM2, and it sounds fantastic, and the battery lasts longer than I ever need it to. I just can't imagine that newer models are that much better.

Note that the one you linked to is likely a grey import, and it's from a 3rd party seller.

    • Had loads of headphones over the years either myself or members of my immediate family. WH-1000XM5, WH-1000XM4. My favourite by a country mile over the years was my QC 35 II. Do you have reason to think that these Ultras aren't as good as QC 35 II? Never had SC or 45. Always been curious how they rate next to QC35 II. Because if they're better than them, wow.

      • I don't like the Ultras - the touch controls are annoying - slide your finger somewhere up and down and wait to see if something happens ? Yeah nah from me - I like a button I press and job done.

I've had QC13, 35, 35ii, and now 45 and SC - comfortable for 10 hours on a plane - and I think the noise cancelling is better on the newer ones - definitely I like the Bose Music app EQ Bass/Mid/Treble adjustment I use to suit my listening preferences - it doesn't make a huge difference but enough to make me like it.

Ultras I found the headband too tight and uncomfortable, and sliding my finger around random places to try to see if something changes was a bridge too far for me.

Some saying the NC may be better - I compared in a shop between my QC and the Ultra (I've listened to them several times in different stores) - and it was a meh from me - I walked out and stay happy with what I got - QC 45 and QC SC -

09/12/23 Bose QC45 deal $250 direct from Bose
29/05/24 Bose QC SC deal $164.00 from JBHiFi – half price special for SE which were out of stock so they sold me the newer SC for the same price

Compared to $360 for headphones I've tried several times and don't like ?

        Not in a million …

        • Woah. hypothetically let's say they're all the same price… What would you take over the QC 35 II. Just wanted to make sure I completely understood. Because I want to get the one that's better than them. Because they were insanely good. Really disappointed I went down the Sony route.

    • Negging over a Logan listing is hilarious

    • touch controls all day, thanks for pointing this out. good deal over at Koges.

    • While i think you're right, it seems more people care about the look than the product.

You shouldn't neg this because it is a good price for these - even if you don't care for them. This isn't an opinion site.

For what it's worth, I bought a pair of these when they were released in Dec 2023 - they're now 18 months old.
The ear cup lining started peeling open and it was a fight to get these replaced just outside of warranty
Now the left ear stopped working and that was another battle to get repair organised as out of warranty
Certainly not been the premium experience in terms of product quality nor customer service - Id recommend staying away from these

    • +1

Yeah, as another Ultra owner, I don’t think they’re great. Pretty disappointing.

    • This sucks to hear. Elsewhere you really hear of bose customer service. I got the xm6 (but sold it cause it was not really comfortable or didn't sound anywhere as great on bluetooth than my AirPods Pro 2 nor had Spatial Audio or water proof). Thought of getting these but then there's issues. I have AirPods Max but they are soo heavy (otherwise soo perfect). Now I'm unsure what to do. Prob just wait for AirPods Pro 3

    • it was a fight to get these replaced just outside of warranty

You sure about this one? Was it with via Bose's official website or a retailer? I've had issues with my QC headphones in the past (some just outside warranty too) and they've replaced it for me not once but twice.

I am now planning on returning it for a 3rd time because it's having crazy connection issues on my Mac, and they're happily processing that too.

      • yeah, both times they directed me to purchase replacement parts, its only when i quoted ACCC and consumer protections that suddenly they were happy to replace. Ive only just sent off the headphones for repair/placement this week, so will see if they replace them.
Im not saying that they didnt, eventually, rectify the issue - just that I had to argue with them and say repeatedly that I wasnt happy with the quality and I was happy to take to consumer affairs/ACCC to get any action.
Its also frustrating that there is live chat but no email or postal address

"The ear cup lining started peeling open"

If they're the same as the standard oval padding that fits I think the same size for most if not all QC 13, 35, 45, and SC, you can get them cheap on eBay for $8 a pair in black or grey - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/305604110812

      $15 with a spudger tool - https://www.amazon.com.au/Professional-Replacement-Proxima-D…

I ordered 2 pairs at a time and have replaced them maybe 4 times over the last 10 years or so

they just clip in around the outside - maybe a cardboard base you just need to use your thumbnail or spudger to press it in and around to stay under maybe 4-6 little plastic lugs around the outside of the base.

the cheap ones I suspect have outlasted the originals and felt just as comfortable to me, and maybe quicker than chasing Bose - who do have a good reputation for replacements, so up to you which way you want to go.

I've had the NC700 for about 4 years and they're still going pretty well for now. If these aren't much of an upgrade I'll probably wait till a good price on the XM6

    • have had NC700 for a while too and also wait for a good deal for XM6. the major issue I have with NC700 is its mere 17 hours battery life, way tooo short.

      that's the reason I still keep QC35 (first gen)…

  • Got them for around $280ish luckily last year when there was a coupon stuff up. Good headphones but lately theyve been messing up with stopping playback randomly. Theyre also pretty loose. Not meant for gym.

Just bought a pair with 17% boosted ShopBack tonight from 6-8pm tonight. Came down to $338 (once $60 odd comes back from SB). 🤟🤟

    • Are you 100% sure you’ll like these headphones?Cause you can pay $22 more and buy from Bose and have a 90 no questions asked money back guarantee

  • At these prices vs the XM6 I’m wondering if Ultra II are around the corner. 90 days return maybe lessen the risk there…

    • +1

They are under 2 years old so I doubt they release anything this year

  • +2

Thanks OP but ended up buying from TGG through Shopback. Ended up paying $301.07 [399 - 61.66 (17% Boosted SB 6-8pm special) - 36.27 (10% Westpac)] + Delivery

    • Same! My both amounts tracked back too! Thanks for the suggestion!!

  • Thanks OP! 👍

  • These or Focal Celestees?

      • "These or Focal Celestees?"

        $360 or $1300 - hmm - tough choice - fair comparison ? -
        https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/products/focal-celestee-high-…

my takeaway from more expensive $650 headphones I loved in the store but stopped using at home

was that wired headphones are a PITA if you want to listen while moving out and about

and they weren't noise-cancelling so were not suitable in noisy environments.

so if your listening is confined to sitting in a small quiet or soundproofed room and not walking about, great.

for me those went into a storage box that could be labelled WOFTAM
