  • Mine arrived a few days ago. So far so good. Screen is great, very responsive. I've taken a few photos to test and they have looked very sharp. Magic edit is genuinely like magic, I couldn't tell at all that something has been removed from a photo. It is pretty heavy compared to my old G84.
Battery life - so far I've been very impressed. I turned off 5g, but besides that haven't done anything to save battery, even bumped up the resolution to max. In a fairly light day of use but not on WiFi at work, I came home with 81% battery.

    • 5g shows (Recommended) on the settings. Does the pixel automatically downgrade to 4g even on 5g On? Or best to set it specifically on 4g mode for battery savings?
Newbie question. I can only get 4g with my sim plan anyway.

      • Then just set to 4g

  • I am not a Telstra customer. If I just create an account can I buy? I am not going to sign any plan with Telstra.

This phone is now OOS. You won’t be able to do anything.

      • But if it wasn't… Could I just create an account without any plan?

        • +1

You could have purchased it outright. No account needed.

  • the back glass on the Pixel 8 is fragile… my toddler just threw the phone (in a case) on the hard floor and the back glass screen has got hair line cracks.. lol, it's in the case so not noticeable.. glad I didn't pay $1k+ for these types of phones. front screen is protected with a 9H screen protector..

Finally have some time to unbox the pro, battery is too low that can not even turn it on. must be sitting there for a year or so. How about you guys.

Double check your front camera cut out. Mine is off by like 1_2mm

      • Mine looks normal to me, what are you going to do with that? if the front camera function normally, I guess you will soon forget about that.

        • I'm unsure if I have to go to telstra or deal with Google directly. It's got 2 years warranty. I'll make a claim and get a new one.

    • You can check the manufacturing date located on the stick where the barcodes are.

      • Must missed something, I think I tried, couldn't find it. Anyway, doesn't matter, they are old phone.

      • Just checked it, mine was made in 2023, almost 2 years, that's why battery arrived 0%. Anyway hope this won't affect the battery life too much

Got mine today. Came with 0% battery and front camera cut out is misaligned / dead pixel. Just my luck 😂

I can see increased pixel 8 pro listings in eBay.
Probably Telstra sourced and flipping it for extra $$$. Prices range from min. $700 to $1000 for the 8 pro 128gb flavour.

One seller had several available for sale. High chance that seller purchased it from Telstra deal since the listing coincides with Telstra despatch date & most buyers receiving their pixel timeframe.

It sucks for people who wanted one for personal use and not for re-selling missed out by some people buying it up all for themselves to re-sell on eBay, fb marketplace, gumtree etc.

    • It is expected

  • Some of my orders hasn’t been delivered to me.
Upon checking up with StarTRACK, they confirmed me that they have been returned back to Telstra. They didn’t provide me any reason.

  • Order placed 11-05. Telstra rep advised that order is in backorder as they don't hv stock. FYI to anyone still waiting.

Pixel 8 back in stock if anyone interested in buying

    • Can't add to cart.

      • I can still add it

I don't have any active Telstra services. I do have a Telstra ID though.

          I'd prefer the Pro version.

  • My order is cancelled today

    Kind regards,

    • My order also got cancelled. But interestingly, they were taking new orders yesterday (see above).

      • What colour did you order? Yesterday they were taking orders for Obsidian.

      • Yeah I knew. I asked them if I could change it to Obsidian colour or cancel that and place a new order. They said they couldn't change the order and my order will be delivered within 7~10 days. Lmfao how stupid I was I did believe them

        • out of interest when did you place your order

  • any one having issue when put 8 pro on Pixel Stand 2, the touch screen may sometimes become unresponsive or have trouble registering touches. had no such issue on my 8. there were many reports of the issue with 8 pro 2 years ago, i thought google fixed it.

    • Don't have Pixel Stand but have these issues while using the phone. It doesn't respond to touches and times while waking up the phone, typing into the browser etc

      • Not too big a deal, it back to normal after couple mins of charging stay on the stand or after removing from the stand. No issue charging on usb c or other Qi wireless charger. Maybe that's why google don't care about it.
