    • Whats the % of charge left by end of day?

Samsung galaxy is the way to go if you want Android ecosystem. Pixel is garbage despite the good camera.

      • snapdragon Samsung galaxy is the way to go, exynos versions suffer from the same issues pixels do regarding the horrendous Samsung modem/process node

  • Thanks OP, jumped on a P8P 256

  • how do you get 256 8 pro? only see the 128 version

    • +2

Only the black Colour has 256gb option

  • +2

sorry, how do you get this telstra id ?

    • The questions we need fr, is it common to have a telstra id when there are so many other sim card deals on ozb?

  • Is there a work around for Telstra ID ?

  • +3

Got a Telstra ID and logged in but keeps asking me to add a plan before I can get to check out?

    • +2

You should be able to select the keep current plan even if you don't have a plan, then proceed to add to cart.

      • Yeah I tried that but still get the same message

        • I bought one earlier today for Dad and I'm on a plan with my own phone; there's a toggle between buy a plan and use your current plan.

          • @Big L: I kept trying over the last few hours and still have the same issue. Have given up

            • +1

@Whatisthatvelvet: Try incognito or duck duck go if you feel like another go.

              • +1

@Big L: Tried incognito a couple times prior and just tried duckduckgo. No luck still. And looks like most variants are oos now. Oh well.

                • +1

@Whatisthatvelvet: It's them - I had dramas on the weekend accessing their chat. They're trying to push everything through "my Telstra" and it sucks.

  • I'm currently using a Motorola G84 from a previous deal and for all intensive purposes it's fine, however the camera is terrible. I'm looking to upgrade for an overseas trip but I'm worried about all the issues with the P8 including battery life. Thoughts?

    • +3

Buy the pixel for nonintensive purposes.

      • Whoops

      • +1

Negged the comment for this reason ๐Ÿ˜‚ this is by far my most hated grammar gaff

    • +3

This is exactly my situation. Love the battery life on the G84, but photos are just bad. From what I hear the key to better battery life is to switch off 5G and just use 4G. I know, you miss out on some speed, but the difference where I am isn't huge and I'd trade for better battery life.

      • Yeah just turn off 5G, phone will last the whole day

    • +1

The default camera app is crap. The G84 has been flawless otherwise.

Using G-cam makes a bit of a difference in the quality of pics but there's only so much it can do with the hardware.

I grabbed a P8P purely for the camera tbh.

  • +4

This is one of those "buy first, think later" types of deals.

    • Same sad I missed out P9P for $699 but got this P8P $499

  • -4

When will these ship if in stock? I purchased one!

    • +2

      Mine's already in 'Dispatched' status.

      • Did you get a tracking number?

        • Mine says 'dispatched'. I don't have a tracking number.

  • What is the cheapest way to get a Telstra ID?

    • One month phone plan would do I guess. Don't know if that's the cheapest.

      • With a current Telstra ID it only allowed 1 purchase.

        • -1

I was able to order more than one

          • @dealsgrabber: Same got 2 for family

            • @lufee: Why the negs for people who are jealous you purchased two. So lame.

          • @dealsgrabber: Maybe because you have an active Telstra account? I don't have any Telstra Services but i was able to log in using my Telstra ID to purchase.

    • +1

I use $2 sim and work for me.

  • Anyone able to get as price match for this anywhere?

    • +1

      Clearance so wonโ€™t match unfortunately

  • My Oppo Reno 5g from 2019 still works great.

    • luv my Oppo too, but time to move on and try Pixel

      • Is it enough of an upgrade?

  • Does the 8 Pro come with any subscription goodies?

  • This or the Google Pixel 9a 128GB at $727 from OW?

    • +3

From the limited research if done today. Not much difference from the Pro 8 to Pro 9 especially considering the price difference.

    • +3

8 Pro is a flagship phone with all the bells and whistles. 9a is a midrange with a lower quality build. Iโ€™d buy the 8 Pro over 9a at similar price point!!

      • +1

8 pro is a great phone and incredible value at $499.

  • +1

Nice. Got a 256gb Pro in the morning.

  • +5

You can install GrapheneOS onto this for anyone interested in doing that

    • This is my main motivation for moving over to a Pixel from a Samsung Galaxy 23+.

Not sure if I'll end up liking Graphene, and may end up back on stock Android, but keen to give it a shot. Expecting it will require a lot of tinkering, which I find enjoyable as long as it's not too much of a slog.

      • Are you worried about not being able to use tap-to-pay/GPay?

        • That plus other constraints/difficulty in setting it up.

Is there a GPay constraint still? Another one I read about (that sounds like it may have been addressed) is integration for Android Auto.

          • @soymeat: Yes, unless Google certifies GrapheneOS there will always be a GPay restriction. And obviously Google will never certify an OS that goes against its entire business model.

Reading this it looks like you may be able to use tap-to-pay in the commbank app as they have their own implementation. I never knew this, very interesting. Let me know if you are able to manage with a banking app and your general experience with graphene afterwards, I am very curious.

I have no clue about Android Auto.

  • +2

i would upvote you twice if i could. never thought telstra would offer competitive pricing on anything; let alone the best price.

  • WOW it is still in stock. how many Pixel 8 does Telstra have?

    • Nobody upgrades devices yearly. Phones hardly improve year on year especially with software updates. So no suprise these deals are prevelent with excess stock.

      • +1

Nobody buys them, they just keep releasing them annually?

    • Maybe not, when I try to add to cart via the app, only black ๏ผˆboth 128 and 256) and green are available.

  • +1

Looking at the invoice it doesn't mention the IMEI number. Is that the receipt to use for warranty purposes?

    • They might match it against the invoice number/order number which has a date.

    • Your packing slip, sent with phone will be your warranty. It has IMEI on it.

  • +2

I was able to buy using my old telstra ID. ( dont have current plan or sim with Telstra)
I had to block tracker using adguard.
    They took my money ๐Ÿ’ฐ ๐Ÿค‘ ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

  • This or pay more for pixel 9a? Which one more value for money?

    • +2

      8 pro 100%

    • Pixel # and Pixel # Pro are flagships. #a phones are midrange phones.

  • Looks like the pro are sold out, can not add to cart

    • Mint 128GB & Obsidian 256GB still in stock.

      • Stocks are in and out. Was unable to add to cart when I post

        • Were you getting a generic looking error? I had to add it to cart and purchase it using my browser incognito mode for it to work. Just kept getting an error like 'something went wrong' otherwise.

  • I donโ€™t have a Telstra account anymore but used to be a Telstra customer many years ago. Would I be able to get one and is it tied to Telstra network

    • +1

yes… u can walk into a telstra shop..pay cash…and they will literally sell you one.

  • +1

offficworks will not price match this..just literally tried..they wont as technically its a telstra networked device even though it's outright..they will only match if jbhifi or someone like mobilecity does the price

  • +2

the new update pushed to pixel phone uses 7-9 percent MORE battery a day..

so keep in mind this phone already has horrible battery…this will make it worse

you can do nothing but use chrome leave home at 8am..get home at 5pm and be at 19 percent

    • Exactly. It feels like Sergey wants us to ditch the 8s and buy his 9s

    • +1

I'm on pixel 8a and have a 20k powerbank to compliment it because of the lousy battery life.

  • +1

I was about to buy two iPhone SE Gen3's (2022) for my in-laws who needed a phone that was still capable of receiving updates. It was going to be $330 each.

Happy with this deal, got two Pixel 8's on one Telstra account - thanks op.

  • Can't add passport details as ID as Australia for nationality is not an option?

    • +2

Yeah, there's a message on the Telstra site:

We're currently unable to verify Australian passports online. To use your Australian passport, call us or visit in store.

  • -5

This is honestly all the P8P is worth coming from someone who is using one ATM. I wouldn't pay a cent more. At the EOTD, it's still a glorified Exynos SoC.

  • -1

Can anyone confirm these are fully factory unlocked and would not have any Telstra brand on the box?

    • Yes

    • -1

When was the last time you bought a branded Telstra phone?

    • It might have the telstra logo when u turn it on like the outright 7pro i got..

but other than that it's not locked or anything you can whack a vodafone sim in if u want and be on ur way

  • Pixel 8 or 8 Pro?? Don't want a large screen hence was leading towards the 8… 256GB for $499??

    • Go 8 then

  • so besides the downgrade in screen size, 12gb ram and camera vs the 8 Pro anything else the phone will miss out on? get the upgrade in 256 storage vs 128gb..

  • -1

Are these network locked to Telstra and do they come included with any custom Telstra software or is it exactly the same as from Google Store?

    • Not locked to Telstra. Software is same as buying from anywhere else

  • Paid with amex , sold by Telstra prepaid as per transaction. 8 256gb

  • Ppl selling the pixel 8 pro 128gb for $850 already on marketplace- haha.

    • Pixel 8 pro is $837 at office works with tax invoice.. $818 on Amazon.. fyi so $850 as an onsell, rather go to Office works and get full warranty

    • +1

They're not selling them, they're dreaming.

  • I just ordered it. Thanks

    • Which one you get
