have you heard of those machines that do both wash and dry in one unit.
They can only dry very small loads, so it's not like you put in dirty laundry, and a few hours later you have clean and dry laundry.
I had looked into this, but decided against it.Yes, they suck. For some reason they’re all TERRIBLE at drying.
Agreed. I got the Haier 9kg/5kg washer dryer combo for $838 -$100 promo egift card (yet to arrive) + delivery from TGG around 3 weeks ago.
The drying function is really good. Just need to set dryer at highest level and clothes come out dry.Not sure why you are getting neg votes for asking a question.
With a washer/dryer combination machine, the washing side will be fine but the drying side is the downfall.
The dryer is usually rated at half the capacity of the wash, so when you want to wash and dry it needs to be loaded at about half capacity.
The drying technology is often a condenser dryer which uses a heating element and takes a very long time, so not unusual for a single wash and dry cycle to take hours.
This condenser dryer system needs to be cooled down, when inside a washing machine it uses water during the drying cycle which is obviously not great if you need to use the drying function a lot.
If I use a Fisher Paykel combination machine as an example ( WD8560F1 ) it is 8.5KG Wash and 5KG Dry and it uses an additional 34L of water during the dry cycle. So a combination machine is only recommended for those who are stuck for space and can't stack a dryer or put one elsewhere, people who do very little amounts of laundry or just very rarely use the dryer.
There is nothing wrong with condenser dryers per se. I have a dedicated F&P heat pump condenser dryer and it is awesome. I think it is the combined washer/dryers that are the problem.
I will have to agree, used many brands, this one is the best, quick add garment is a big plus.
I have the auto dose version, so easy to use.
Bought an ASKO, and it's just not in the same league, the F&P wins miles ahead
keep in mind it's a good machine..
but at the end of the day..it is literally a haier HWF10AN
same engine, same drain hose, same everything pretty much internally..it's haier in all aspects except the externals and the steam mode..it will even be haier who does ur repair if anything happens.
also has the smallest door opening of any of the big name brands so is a bit squeezy to fit a blanket in
Due to the high volume and competition of white good brands and models, natural selection plays a big part, and the bad quickly disappears from the market.
From my understanding this model listed, has been selling for a few years now.
I brought mine almost 2 years ago.all service in aus is fisher paykel service
they also do haier service
Haier owns F&P
theres some differences between the products despite they are made by haier
Its a bit like skoda and VW
Theres no mention that haier model using the direct drive motor though
Yeah same for their top loaders as well, rebranded Haier.
The website said that my local good guys had no stock, but when I called them to place an order for pick up (because I didn't want to pay delivery fee) they did actually have stock on hand for pick up
I'd do the extra $10 for Appliances Online for the delivery as iirc they will take the (disconnected) old one away too. And the crazy amount of packaging. That's well worth $10 in my books.
Winnings/AO delivery is also still in house, so they actually give a shit about phoning ahead, turning up on time, and not causing damage as it directly gives the company a bad reputation.
They also have a powered stair climber and won't give you a hard time about the mild inconvenience of using it.
Have used them many times and always excellent.
As you say, they install the new machine, take the old and and packaging away, you know exactly when they are coming (next day delivery usually available) and they price match.
another$50 off from the referrals , better to go with AO, delivered, installed, with the old one taken away at a cheaper price.
Does this have a dedicated liquid detergent dispenser?
Nah, he's pretty nonchalant
If there are owners of this, does it take long for an everyday cycle ? Mine (a smaller size one) the timer shows on display is not accurate. Mine shows 56 mins to do an everyday cycle but I swear it took at least 20 mins more than it states in real time. I watched several times the timer simply didn't tick when the minute was up and I really don't like this as I tried to squeeze a cycle in before I go out and their timer threw me up.
Defaults to 59 minutes I believe, but in reality it takes maybe 10 minutes longer or so. Depending on what you put in it.
It has WiFi, so you can start it remotely, if that helps.I’d caveat the “you can start it remotely” with: you can start it remotely only if you specifically put the washing machine into “remote start” mode. You need to do it on every wash. So if you close the door and leave the house without remembering to put it in remote mode you’re out of luck.
As @hotphil said, the app is pretty BS. The best part about it is the notifications, as the beep when it’s finished a cycle is so quiet you’ll often miss it.
App stuff aside, solid washer and can fit so much in it.
Yes, that is correct - you have to set that up. Though to be honest, I imagine that you would know at the time you are closing the door whether you intend to start it there and the or not.
I've got an 11 year old 7ish kg unit and the thing is the biggest liar. 30 mins left, could be 30, or could be 60. Last 3 minutes? Come back in 15 and still 3 minutes left…
If it hadn't been rock solid and quiet I'd be annoyed. Good washer aside from the time gaslighting.I feel your pain, that's exactly what I hated most about my washer !
My 10kg machine is the same lol
If I fill it full, 2 hours turns into 3, but if it's 70% full, e.g. 7kg load, then it's accurate.
This may do "notifications" via their app if you really want to hook up your washing machine to the internet and be told when your frilly knickers are done. One thing I would say, the Wi-Fi/app-ness of their dishwasher and fridges is pretty naff. Can't see the point at all, so my hopes for their washing machine app would be very low.
And the killer on why I'll never buy F&P again is the total shithousery that is their touch-panel control things on their ovens and microwaves (not just the random insensitivity, but the nonsensical menus/actions). And that it's not possible to turn off the beeper on the microwave and it's more aggressive than a Tapout-shirt wearing bogan coming out a UFC match's toilets, freshly methed and roided.
The app is so useful! I can load my dishwasher, put in the tablet, close the door, then unlock my phone, find the Smart HQ app, click on the appliance, then press start and hope my dishwasher is connected to the internet and actually starts!
It's so much easier than pressing the "on" button followed by the "play" button on the machine I was just standing in front of!
why wouldn't you just start it after closing the door instead of waiting till later to use the app to start?
@potato11: I think that's the joke they were trying to make…
But in all seriousness, you might want to schedule a start for when your energy is off peak of something.@potato11: If you have solar, you should be scheduling your high energy drain appliances to run through daylight hours
You should be writing reviews mate. This is exactly what people need to know before buying.
I don’t suppose it can use any of my other 10 smart home apps eg
Smart life
Home assistant
Smartthings
Can these be stacked with a F&P Heat Pump dryer?
Would also like to know this
Yes you can.
Just need the stacking kit ( 428122 ) and you can then stack a 8, 9 or 10KG Heat Pump on top.dont need no stacking kit
just put it on topYea I would rather not be that person who advises people to risk that… have experienced multiple instances in my time of the heat pump dryer ending up on the floor or in the wall opposite the washer.
When New Zealand has a fully fledged electronics company while Australia doesn't.
Its now chinese, Haier Group bought it
Don't know if I can trust F&P. Have had a dishwasher and oven die young. 1 and 4 years old…
Not unusual from my experience.
People just need to know they are buying Haier, not the Fisher & Paykel from years ago.
Cheers, just ordered, any ideas on a suitable stand for this? Don't really want to have to bend over to use this. Bunnings has Bedford 666mm White Front Loading Washing Machine Stand but I'm not sure if it's deep enough.
Fisher Paykel storage plinth ( FM2060S1 ) $450.
no
washer is 655 depth
bedford is 627 depth
f&s plinth is 603 depthYes…
This is a purposely manufactured plinth for this line of washing machines, it also has the guides/locks for the feet and is secured to the washing machine. Here's the install guide for reference of how much goes into installing/securing it to the washing machine.
https://www.fisherpaykel.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-fp…The bedford is just a plinth that you assemble like IKEA furniture.
https://media.bunnings.com.au/api/public/content/3ac2c706528…You are using the overall depth measurements of the washing machine from the rear of the lid to the front of the door, that is not where the feet are.
Overall plinths aren't great from a stability point of view, and ironically the manufactures don't want you to use them and it often causes headaches when you do a warranty claim because it takes additional time or a second technician to assist.
Ironically, even in the Fisher Paykel manuals / installation guides for their washing machines it says "This washer must not be installed or operated on a plinth."so a 7kg and a 11kg will have the same feet position?
@rudebutt1: Not what I am suggesting at all, as a larger front loader will be naturally deeper and why specific product is made.
If you actually looked at the details of the FM2060S1 you can see it covers 9, 10 and 11KG models.@Retailing: i looked at details before my original reply to Musique34
details omit any reference to P4 range"Suits models: WH1260F1, WH1160F2, WH1160S1, WH1060S1, WH1260P1, WH1160P3, WH1060P1, DH9060FS1, DH9060C1, DH9060P2, DH9060P1, DH9060H1, DH9060HL1"
Don’t really trust this brand.
I have a cooktop and exhaust fan both broken after just 2 years out of the warranty period.Warranty period is mostly meaningless. Should be covered by ACL if you reasonably expect it to last longer than 2 years (it should).
How does this stack up against the recent 10kg Westinghouse 700 series posted here? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/908252
Have been weighing up spending more on a Bosch German made machine however these are a good $400-500 off so am considering the savings which I'm guessing I'd save a similar amount on a dryer compared o a Bosch German made equivalent.
Not sure if I should be checking out product review to help pick or another kind of reference - if there's any good review pages anyone would recommend, am all ears.
This Fisher Paykel will be better than the Westinghouse from a noise point of view as it uses a Direct Drive motor and the warranty is just easier to book-in.
The Bosch is a better machine from a reputation of reliability but can also be run more efficiently than these machines as well as Bosch have a very accurate load sensing system called "Active Water Plus".
So it is already more efficient on a Eco Wash cycle, but can also run other cycles efficiently instead of how most washing machines work of always using the exact same amount of water/power every time.
The particular model in the deal you are mentioning is also a higher spec machine in the Bosch range for not only being Series 8 ( German Made ) but also has the latest version automatic detergent dosing system ( iDos ).

How does this compare to the Bosch series 6 10kg front loader? Did a price match with good guys the other month for $750.
Series 6 is Chinese made.
That figures :(
Hisense 12kg Series 5 Front Load Washing Machine
Is roughly the same price for 12kg.
Is FP superior to Hisense?
The LG is also $900 for a 12kg machine. I'd imagine LG is more reputable…??
With the add a garment function, how does that work? Won't the water come out when you open the door?
It drains and refills
How come mine show $810?
$820 at Appliances online with free delivery and install if you cant pickup.
https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/fisher-paykel-10…
I'd pay $10 extra to buy from AO over TGG and for free delivery.
Most likely AO will price match TGG if you ask.
Only recent time I've not purchased whitegoods from AO is when they don't sell the model or is OOS.
Without promos or specials AO can be expensive but they will always pricematch if you ask.
Awesome machine. Highly recommend for anyone in the market right now
