It mentions activate within 30 days? Is that a confirmed requirement?

    • CIS says to take advantage of the inclusions in any advertised plans

the language isn't particularly clear, it's worded like you could activate sim with no inclusions, but does anyone think it's like boost after that date inclusions are subject to change like 360GB could change to something lower/higher

You need to activate your SIM within 30 days of purchase
or by the date advertised in a promotion (whichever is earlier) in order
to take advantage of the inclusions in any advertised plans.

    • +1

If it means anything I activated a catch mobile Sim I bought 2 years ago just the other day, same inclusions as when I bought 😄

    • +2

I asked their chat and it says you have 24 months from date of purchase and to ignore the terms on their website

This was in relation to the 200gb plan for $149

"Hi there, for this particular plan you can ignore that copywriting you have up to 24 months from the purchase date toa activate the SIM with no consequences or loss of inclusions"

Best to ask for this one just in case

    • +1

felix mobile have a great deal for unlimited data $16 a month for 4 months then $40 i have been with them since it was $35 a month and now they only charge me $30 uses the vodafone network

      • If you don’t need unlimited why would you pay $40 a month? The one pass is a much better deal for medium users.

  • +48

They keep adding data that many don't need and will never fully use and keep raising price

    • i've personally been keeping an eye out for these higher data plans, 120gb per year isnt nearly enough for me, so im happy

      • +28

There's always been hgiher data plans, the point is there is less and less low data plans on offer now.

    • Pretty normal behaviour from telcos

    • -1

the sweet spot for a lot of people I speak to is needing 50gb a month, so these higher data 365 day plans are very welcome. the only other one is the Kogan XL 500gb for $300 (not on sale)

    • +1

I was fine on a 100 GB plan this past year. Cost me $87.50. Nothing near that available nowadays. Admittedly, I now want Optus or Telstra network, you can do lower on Voda, I think.

I'm probably going to go with this one as I only have 11 days left on EzySim.

    • It works out to about 30GB for $13.75 p/m, so not bad if you’re willing to pre-pay for convenience.
But not as good as 800GB for $59 p/m on Vodafone student.

    • It makes for good contingency data if your home internet goes down for an extended period off time

  • +7

That app is really abysmal. I think I've finally found one that's worse than Vodafone

    • +1

Out of interest what are you using the app for with a prepaid service? I see people mention apps about telcos but I think I look at mine maybe 2-3 times in the year long period to check data and when I inevitably see a deal on ozbargain and I can’t remember when mine renews. It would have to be one of my least used apps.

      • +4

I'm the same. I couldn't care less. I accept you can't have everything on these third - party deals, an app is the least of my worries.

  • Does anyone have a contact email for onepass mobile?
    Chasing up missing 'bonus data'

    • There’s a chat in the app or you can call them

  • +5

if you don't need that much data, Kogan is doing $159 for 300GB

    • +1

Kogan is doing $159 for 300GB

    • +3

Onepass 200GB $149 if you need even less data…
(Miss the days of the $99 Catch Connect tho')

    • Can the the Kogan $159 be used for top-up? Or new SIM only?
      I am currently with Kogan.
      Thanks

the optus 300GB Starter Kit was $125 after cashback

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/908156

    • the cashback has expired 2 days ago. not sure how i didn't spot it. cheapest so far for me is the Kogan

      • +2

maybe it because it doesn't have much upvote, and it went on the front page very late. The cashback deal is a kind of gamble. My cashback got tracked

        • I'm still fighting with CR for tracking…

      • don't think it's expired unless it got extended ?

        Expires: Jun 14, 2025, 11:59:00 PM

        https://www.cashrewards.com.au/store/optus-prepaid-sim

      • the deal is still alive. The optus price is still $275 and cashback is still $150

  • does it support 5G network or only offering 4G network?

    • +2

      Only 4G.

      • +2

tbh, as more people move to 5g, 4g has been working extremely well.

        • +3

plenty fast enough, better on battery as well

          • @0jay: yep, only time I switch to 5g these days is if i am hotspotting for gaming.

  • +4

What's the best yearly plan for someone with very low data usage? My current plan with Everyday Mobile is about to expire in 7 days and the app says I've only used 18GB in the last 358 days.

    • +1

Same situation. Its hard to find anything below $150 a year that could gover my 2-4gb per month usage.

      • +1

        That's 182 days plan, not 365 days.

      • It's 6 months plan

    • +2

Unfortunately nowadays you don't really find plans that's less than $10 a month.

    • the current cheapest 365 day plan is Catch mobile 200gb for $149. so $12.40 a month

      • +1

Catch mobile is OnePass mobile now

        • yeah sorry, Onepass mobile, Same price as i mentioned above

    • 18GB? Respect. I've used about 75GB in the past year, but that is partly because I could. I think I could've gone down to 20 - 25 GB, but 18 GB is a good effort.

      • -6

I've used 75gb in the last few minutes just trying to load one of your mums instagram upload.
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. My inner child couldn't resist.🙏🏻

    • you just missed the kogan $139 deal

      • Not speaking about OP but I sidestepped them as they're with Vodafone. I was with them this year, much better deal but much worse coverage for me. I'm going to be travelling a bit more domestically and it looks like Optus has better coverage in the places I'm going to than Vodafone.

        • Vodafone and Optus have a network sharing agreement for regional Australia, so it shouldn't matter which provider you use.

          • @sir_bazz: I barely had coverage in Sydney with Vodafone. I last used them in 2020 and had the same issue so they can go into the bin. I'm just judging them on what happened, not what should happen though.

            • +1

              @kiriakoz: Fair enough man…..makes sense.

The network sharing agreement only came into effect in January 2025 which explains your past experience.

    • If you're on the old $170 Everyday Mobile yearly plan, the 10% off Woolworths shop once a month makes it probably the cheapest plan around. Other than that, maybe a prepaid plan?

  • -1

If this is the same as Catch Calling plans… horrible call quality, know someone on it and 9 months of torture to go… :(

    • Maybe it's their phone? I've been on Catch Mobile (now called Onepass Mobile) for 12 months now and had perfect call quality and better data reception than when I was with Boost.

  • +4

Surely there's a market in Australia for a 99GB 365-day plan that covers the basics for heaps of students. Maps, social media, calls and texts to mum and dad. Something parents would sign up for. What is this world coming to.

    • +1

Students are the type to chew through 360gb in a year.

      • Agreed. To be fair to students, many of them use their mobile as their main "computer" over their laptop etc. I know plenty that don't need a fancy laptop and home connection but will chew through their data.

    • +4

There is a market for it, but the telcos realised they can remove the lower data plans and force people to pay more for higher data plans that they'll never use.

  • Is Optus good now?

    • Where i am, they're better than telstra. This is 5G though.

      • This Onepass plan is 4G? Not 5G

        • Was talking about how my experience on optus is based on 5G.

  • The last 4 or 5 years I average about 15gb mobile data use per YEAR. I really wish there some cheaper low data plans, there must be only a tiny fraction of users that need/use 360gb.

    • The lowest I can find is from Yomojo 8GB for $9.95/pm, only 6 months port in tho.

  • what is the best way to see if this network is good in your area before buying it?

    • You can probably check here

    • ask your nieghbours

  • +1

Is there any benefit to having OnePass with this plan? Like do you get anything further?

    • +2

Update: I contacted OnePass, there's no benefit.

  • Does it support esim?

    • No

  • Anyone knows how is this is better different from coles mobile?

    • It looks quite similar but I don't see a similar deal with Coles Mobile price wise unless I'm missing one.

      • I don't see international calling included in this but it is in coles mobile

  • I use up to 10GB per month/120GB per year, what’s the cheapest long expiry plan available?

  • i used at least 50g every month…still waiting for kogan 500g for $150…..360g is no enough for me…

    • Do you use it for your home internet? If not, that's mental to me. I am ancient though so maybe there's something the kids are doing that I don't understand.

      • I wouldn't get close to 50, but high quality streaming could easily get you there. Long commutes you could burn through that

        • Fair enough. I only had 100 GB this past year but I mainly downloaded shows/podcasts in advance and had built in games for commutes. My commute isn't very long though, I usually go into the office 2 - 3 times per week and I have wifi at work and home so I found it easy, but appreciate everyone's in a different situation.

One of my colleagues has a long commute and he used that time to do all sorts of stuff (stream content, finish some work, complete life admin) and I can imagine he burned through a lot of data)

          • +1

@kiriakoz: One of the implications of cloud storage/compute is increased mobile use and thereby massive increase in cellular demand.

4G/5G was implemented to absorb this demand and a corollary of that is the expectation (particularly in young people) that massive cellular consumption is entirely the norm. Services like instagram hooked into this and implemented auto play freescroll video which means even just casually scrolling something like insta consumes huge volumes of cellular data.

This is good for the economy (we're told) and not anything like a waste of resources (something many of use instinctively intuit)

          • @kiriakoz: What phone do they use? Wonder which one has great battery life

  • Valuable insight

  • I considered this plan until I saw the roaming rates.
The only info I could find on roaming is:
"Pay As You Go roaming credit can be used for standard internationals calls, text and data usage when you are outside of Australia. Usage is charged at pay-as-you-go roaming rates, which may differ from destination to destination. Please check your roaming rates before travelling. International Roaming credit expires 30 days after purchase. Unused credit will rollover to your next International roaming credit purchase, up to $500, if you purchase additional credit before expiry."

It looks like they dont have any data roaming packs and charge p/MB.
Searching a few countries, they have a p/min rate for calls but more interestingly most countries have a roaming data at $0.005/10KB ($0.50/MB).
This is $500 p/Gb which is poor value.

Roaming packs/block are a must on SIM only plans for those who travel here and there.

    • I highly suggest you disable roaming entirely and look into eSIM options like Roamless/Saily. Super simple, and works out much cheaper. Data only, but should be enough for 90% of use cases - especially if you can get your 2FA into an app as opposed to SMS.

      • I use eSIMs when I'm away yes.. but I do occasionally lean on my provider if it's a trip for a week or so, as I do need to receive incoming calls.

  • Can I receive sms for free whilst overseas for OTP?

    • Yes

  • i am paying $6 a month for 12GB with More CBA yello deal - also comes with 500GB databank which is almost full as I don’t use allowance much as it is my secondary phone
    .

My primary phone is on 32GB plan which is $18 a month after CBA discount

    • paying $6 a month for 12GB with More CBA yello deal

great deal, for hiw long at that rate?

      • been on this deal for 12months - just renewed so got it for another 12 months

        • $6 a month..?
          more site's showing $26/12gb for the yello deal (– $4 a month)

          • @0jay: i get $20 off from yello for this plan

    • +1

I'm assuming you must be on the higher tier of CBA Yello? I only see $4 off per month.

      • yup highest tier

  • No idea why you guys chose onepass mobile, mobile network is really bad, especially when the weather is bad, there is basically no internet although it shows a full signal (don't understand why the rain would have an effect), I'm using an iPhone 15 pro max, even though the signal from apple devices is bad, it can't be no speed at all.

  • out of interest, why do monthly paid sims not have similar prices? Ei 30gb for $15 a month(12 months)? I have also never had one of these 365 ones aswell, would i just need to put a new SIM in my phone before the 365 days is up to avoid the renewal fee? and just look for the next best deal each year as a new customer?

    • +1

Just had a look, Onepass Mobile have $30 for 90 days (regular price $40/90), which is what I might move to when my current option expires.
I might cut my Kogan 365 day offer short, I'm 3 months in and on one side of my work building, on level 28 (in Docklands, Melbourne CBD), I have zero reception…

      • thankyou for this, id have to see how much data i use, because im housebound this might be a great option. does it data bank?

    • Have you check out Yomojo's $12.45/pm for 25GB, even thought for 6 months port in. Lowest plan is 8GB plan and $9.95/pm for 6 months port in, might be the best deal at the moment, as any 365 plans are rip off for low data user. Do miss those $50 for 60GB/365 from amaysim years back.

  • If you want 5G is Boost the only good option? $320.
    https://boost.com.au/products/365-prepaid-sim

    • +2

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/908156

This is the best current 5 G prepaid SIM. $125 for 300 GB and includes 5 GB and international calls

      • Thanks! Cashback works if I can porting my old number across?

Prepaid cashback is eligible on new activations only.
