Almost like we don't need another interstate team

    • +1

      Not in Sydney we don't

What about "Greater Eastern Sydney" ???

        • Batt Reef Stingrays would be a good team for FNQ

        • Maybe they can make the team by relocating Collingwood.

          • @JohnHowardsEyebrows: Nah, the Pies subsidise all the other teams….

No free tickets for their games.
Can't even get into home games as a paid up member often…

        • Like East Sydney FC?

      • +2

Yes we do. It’s a long term investment. It’ll be worth it as the club grows over the coming decades

    Giant Ozbargain meet up

Tinpot club. The battle of AFL nepo babies and they have to beg people to show up

  • Should be a cracking game.

      🤣

      • +7

What’s so funny about that? It’s 5th vs 8th. Should be a good game

          "Should be"

          • @jv: What a cracking game.

              @Agarwal:

              🥱

              Crowd: 10,504

Imagine what it would have been if they didn't give the tickets away for free

          • +1

@jv: Turned out to be a great game. Once again, you are wrong. LOL.

              @beltdrive:

Turned out to be a great game.

Maybe, if you like watching paint dry…

If it was a great game, they'd get more people there (paying) and get a better TV audience… They got neither.

As well as live footy the gameday will feature:

That's a lot of AFL member funded nonsense

    is this Dynamic Pricing?

  • I think these General Admission seats are all behind the goals on either ends

  • Is this in Olympic Park?

Honestly at what stage do the AFL admit bringing a team to Western Sydney is a failure

    • +2

I don't think GWS is the issue, more so GC have more of a no crowd to fill up the seats

Living in western Sydney for 6 years and never seen a gws shirt or hat. Its a worry for the sport as you even see more super rugby shirts than gws gear. I have seen a car badge on burned out Camry in a Scrap yard in Kingswood though.

    • The AFL makes the big money from TV broadcasts, not from fans in the stands.

Lock the gates to keep them in!

  • If they pay for flight, accomodation and a driver i'll scan a ticket and leave

  • +2

Note they never do this for their Canberra matches, which are usually better attended.

  • +3

They make Tassie fork out a billion for a stadium to get a team, but happily pour money down the drain on these two. Makes absolutely no sense

    Go watch local sport instead.

My personal preference is field hockey. Way better than afl to watch once you get into it. International game.

    Way less injuries.

    Consistent umpiring.

Our most successful Olympics team sport on the field.

As a spectator on the sidelines you're very close to the game.

Drinks and food usually very cheap compared to the afl

Thanks OP. I live in Western Sydney and my last interaction with the Giants was back when Kevin Sheedy’s automated emails used to spam me non-stop when they were entering the league. Time has passed, got the free tickets to give them another chance to win me over!

Thanks OP. Took my son to a free GWS night game when he was 5 years old many years ago and he loved it. He is not a footy fan but he still remembers the teams that played that night. We were talking about it only a couple of weeks ago and I told him that I would keep an eye out for free tickets again.

  • Wondering if these are allocated seats or just sit wherever you want like the SCG since it’s GA. The tickets come with a seat number and row though, does anyone know how it works?

    • For future reference, they were general admission. Despite having allocated seats on the tickets, half the stadium was general admission and it was open seating. Overall amazing seats right on the field if you wanted, from the midway point all the way around behind the posts.

  • Thanks OP. Got 4 now so still working for me.

  • Does the tickets entitle you to free public transport to the game?

  • Thanks OP, had a great time at the game today. How often do they usually run these promotions?
