That is cool, I have to say. If only I needed a USB.

I guess I'll just buy it for the future? Yes, that'll do.

          The future is now…

          The future is now…

          no that was the past

        • +2

The future that is now is the past?

          mind = blown

        • +1

The future, present and past are all an illusion. - Albert Einstein

      • Bought that this morning at the discounted price :)

32GB Swiss army knife type thing doesn't state that it is USB3 so I would assume USB2.
However both the 64GB and the 128GB do state that they are USB3, not a bad price at all.

I'd say the 64GB and 128GB is the deal while the Swiss army knife thing is run out crap.

    • +7

never assume, it is probably usb 1.0

Kmart has a 32Gb lexar for $16 in this week cattledog (page 9)
    http://www.kmart.com.au/Catalogue/Catalogue.aspx?CatalogueID…

    • where is that macgyver when you need him to explain the value of this compared to that

    • +3

      LOL cattledog

    • Though that one is USB 2.

  • +10

Not sure I'd buy any USB key without knowing the read/write speed. No point having heaps of capacity if you are not able to fill it up (or copy from it) in an acceptable amount of time.

    • +6

      Ditto.

The odds of this being a 4-6MB/s painfully slow drive are too high.

    • +1

yes I totally agree, not much point having a large capacity USB stick if it takes 30min to copy stuff to it.

    • agreed - ill stick to the sandisk extreme usb 3.0 keys for a extra few dollars

      • where can we get these? link please, cheers.

But cant take your usb on the plane with you

    • ha! hadn't thought of that! snap!

      • You can't say 'snap' if you didn't think of it. :-P

        • I think he was 'snapping' himself :P

        • +1

          I think he meant <slap>

I have the original Victorinox one that looks the same as this. The Victorinox quality is great but this being a replica you have no idea what you will get.

  • i bought one last time, i iniitally thought it is a Victorinox Swiss Army knife, but it turns out not be the case. The quality is okay, but i don't really trust the quality/longevity of the USB drive on these.

    • Ever perform any speed tests?

      • no i didn't use the usb drive much.

      • +1

        No,
but it did cut a Post-It note in half in just under a second.

    Big USB key +
    Nexus 7 +
    Nexus Media Importer Ap +
    USB OTG Adapter =
    144GB Tablet

    • I'm not sure how this is connected, but…

      Big USB Key +
      TF300T +
      microSD +
      USB OTG cable =
      224GB Tablet :P

Include the keyboard dock and we're getting crazy.

  • Just ordered one for the hell of it.

I understand that it is USB 2.0, but will that be fine as a Linux Live-USB?

    • Yes

    • yes, I had Linux on it too.

  • MacGuyver wouldn't use this copy…besides, he is still analogue (bah digital).

  • wish the 128gb didnt use a cap hate having the connector exposed

    • The USB retracts completely into the knife. The cap is not exposed.

  • The one that looks like a key seems pretty interesting, to me anyway.

  • if i attract a cops attention as to why i have a pocket knife, can i say i only use it as a usb and get away with it?

  • +6

I love how in the e-mail the title is "Back to school…"

  • +1

I had this in the 4GB version, I received it some 2 year ago. It is very cool, unfortunately I keep forgetting that they are actually a knife and they keep getting confiscated (with good reason) at airports. I did forget often to even declare them, i must have flown 12 times with one attached to my key chain.

So I recommend this but not if you fly often.

EDIT: I actually had the Victorinox Swiss Army, not sure about the quality of this one.

  • Somehow I have a feeling that USB will snap like a kit-kat if you place any pressure on it.

  • do people really still buy from Kogan?

  • Hey why is everyone commenting on the USB
Can anyone tell me if like the knife is really sharp or if it can be used as a toothpick
or if the scissors can cut a Post-It note in half in less than a second?

  • Yay I bought 2! :D

  • Got mine today. It's not a knife, it's a letter opener. I am trying to make it a knife with my diamond sharpener. I am not having much success.

  • The 128GB arrived today. Looks like some generic piece of sh1t.. plastic cheap feel. Works well for the price though. It max's USB2 speeds and writes @ 60, reads @ 100 over USB3.

    • sounds like you got ripped off?

but then again, what do you expect from Kogan.

      • Considering the write/read speeds, I'm impressed. I figured they'd just throw some USB2.0 10-20MB/s junk in there.

        • yer just saw that. its actually pretty good. i take back my comment.
